[Price Error, ACT] Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) $124 (RRP $239) @ Officeworks, Belconnen

560

First post so be kind plz!

Saw this whilst walking through Officeworks Belconnen (ACT). Saw the price and thought gee that’s cheap. After a quick google search found that it’s selling for $239 on Officeworks website (no stock online though), and $246 at JBHIFI. Made sure to cross-reference the model number as well to quadrupole check it was the same model.

Took box to checkout - scanned and price popped up as $239. Showed them the photo I took of the price and they happily price corrected to $124. Not sure if this is the case in other stores however I’d get in quick to Belco if you’re after one!

This item was reduced to this price online and in store the other day. Store more likely didn't get the memo that the price has increased back up to $239. Nice find OP

Yep was this deal. They haven't updated the price tag https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/807884

  • As others have said this was the price they reduced it to yesterday and seems that store hasn't put the price back up yet

Personally I think the wired ring doorbell is much better than this, particularly in aesthetics… This gets so many fingerprints on it

I agree we had our sparky wire our ring door bell and it’s great so much easier than having to take battery out every second week to recharge sucks

      • +6

Every second week? Is there a lot of activity, people walking by your house? Mine you might need to recharge maybe 3 times a year

        • I like to use all the ring features which apparently use a lot of power and the dog and birds set it off a lot too

        • +3

I reckon they must be using ubereats a lot!😁

      • This one can be wired too

    • +2

I know, I got the gen 1 version from overseas hard wired and I couldn't think of anything more annoying than recharging my doorbell. I don't get why they never sold them here

      • +2

That reminds me, I need to charge my doorbell

I did the same importing, it's been flawless for years, love it

      • +1

You can hard wire the model here. I've got mine waiting to get installed

    • Ring is quite good if you have Amazon ecosystem. This can be hardwired too and if you have google home products around the house it works great. Have mine setup to ring telephones around the house, ping all the Google smart speakers and notification on phones when the doorbell is pressed.

Not worth it to be honest.

Agree, thought I wouldn't use a Google smart product if it was free.

I give up waiting for the wired version and went with Reolink Wifi and got it installed by an electriician - highly recommended. Not limited recording like the 3 hr for the Nest unless you pay the subscription.

This can be wired too, have this for 2 years and works great

    • I just bought the new wired version from Amazon US. Works great.

Reolink PoE is the way to go. No regrets whatsoever and you can get it for around $100 delivered.

    • +1 just installed a Doorbell POE to an existing Reolink set-up. Works a treat.

    • I got the Reolink PoV doorbell, two things that annoy me, one is that when the doorbell gets pressed/rang it doesn't notify you, it only notifys you of movement from the camera, second is I have blacked out areas to not be notified but still get notifications. Any one have this issue?

Officeworks Belconnen was out of stock when I got there. They said that Officeworks Braddon, Tuggeranong and Fyshwick did have stock, but when I drove to Braddon, the shelf price was $239, and the staff stated that they do not price match other Officeworks stores.

No idea about Tuggeranong and Fyshwick, but as a Canberran I refuse to drive more than 25 minutes to buy something out of principle (I am not, forgive me for uttering this dirty word, a S*dneysider). Someone else can feel free to try, though.

    • Not worth it. Especially to drive all the way to Tuggeranong or Fyshwick.

Belco was out of stock when I got there as well, but I was able to get them to do a click and collect from another store.

  • No longer available

I'm looking for a doorbell, which brand is the best and recommended?
