      Day after tomorrow

      • And after that ?

          M4 mac

      • Sheesh… I was close enough.

Time to use my $5 TGG GC from Pepsi app.

  • Spoke with the Apple rep at JB today, he said that the M3 is being announced, but nothing will be out before Christmas, not sure if that is true, but its what he advised

    • M3 MacBooks are rumoured to be in very short supply until 2024. But nobody actually knows so only way to find out is wait two days

    • Look at laptops like Elitebooks and Latitudes

      Do they run macOS?

      • -5

No need. If you want a MacOS type experience, just install PopOS for free.

        • +1

          Did PopOS pay u anything?

          • @9hcpz: PopOS is a free and open source Linux distribution. You clearly have no clue about anything, do you Apple fanboy?

            • @SvcKpc: The first 15 years with Linux was fun, but the past 15 with macOS have been focused and productive.

              • @chrism238: Productive as in what? Developing a cult who pay a massive premium and fiercely defend their practices?

For the simple desktop experience, PopOS is more than adequate for replicating MacOS.
For actual productivity involving compiling, video encoding etc, Mac hardware is a joke compared to other laptops/PC builds at the same price.

Macbooks are the choice for latte sippers. They are a fashion statement.

          LOL

Macbooks are genuinely awful value for money. Avoid at all costs.

Did you need to make two posts stating your position about macbooks?

MacBook Air is $1799. Can you find a laptop equivalent specs for less? 18hr battery life, two thunderbolt ports, retina screen and an equivalent cpu to to m2?

      • +8

Can't help but notice you didn't mention the 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage you get for $1619.

        • -1

I think everyone who complains about the 8GB of ram hasn't used the M chips. Unless you're using professional applications 8gb crushes it and is/will be future proof for the use case of the device.

          • @HulkBroden: I used and I need 16gb ram MacBook.

          • @HulkBroden: MacOS isn't any better then Windows at managing RAM.

If you could find a weirdly specced windows machine with a fast CPU and 8gb of RAM, that would also "crush".

          • +1

@HulkBroden: For productivity applications, there is a case for this.

However, for the actual applications you need RAM for (high-res image editing, video editing, data science, software development), RAM is RAM.

I love my 8GB Macbook Air, but I've had it run out of RAM on multiple occasions, sometimes to the point the OS freezes. Sure, this was always when doing video editing, software development, or working with large Photoshop projects with dozens of layers, but those are the things I do as a hobby. I wouldn't call them "professional applications".

        • Well no. Not exactly hard to find a laptop that matches those specs.

To each his own buddy. You don't have to try so hard to convince people let them decide on their own like you did.

How is $1299 a deal for M1 Air when Officeworks is already $1278…
