I blocked these crooks' as well as Bunnings' spam emails which offer nothing but expensive crap product ads.

    • I got drawn into the Ryobi ecosystem from an almost free clearance stock bundle. Now here I am paying for it finally. :)

Someone got teased at the worksite.

  • I have an $80 6.0Ah battery from eBay that works a treat.

    • Yes, I have one from eBay as well. Good to have choices.
I haven't used it long enough yet to comment further.

      any links for good ones?

How long have you had it for? I find the aftermarkets work great but only for a few months then deteriorates quite quickly

      • A little over a year. I alternate between that and the original. Also make sure it's at 50% charge when storing, and store it inside the house.

      • You are correct. I bought an after market 5.0Ah knock off which worked great for 18 months or so. Then it refused to work in my whipper snipper. Still works in the blower though, so tolerances must be different between different types of equipment.
Slightly annoying, but yeah… the cost of the official batteries are so expensive, it's nearly worth buying the knock offs every so often purely because they're that much cheaper.

    • i'll give those ebay/aliexpress ones a go in the future.

  • eBay one works well. But really hard to unclip from tools.

Funny you should say that because my original 2.0Ah Ryobi battery was a PITA to remove, the internal plastic slot/connection on the battery was deformed. The generic ~$80 6.0Ah (claimed) battery from eBay slides out smooth as butter.

  • Purchased, thanks OP.

Any suggestions on how best to use two identical batteries to maximise battery life - should they be rotated so they each get roughly equal use? Or use one until it dies (my last one lasted 7 years, finally bit the dust this month) then the other.

    • No worries. I would rotate them as batteries have a shelf life even if not been used.

    Thanks OP, purchased this today!

All my yard tools are in the 36v ecosystem. With 300m2 lawn, the 5ah that came with the mower isn’t enough to cover the whole yard (line trimmer + mower + blower). This should now make mowing a single session thing!
