Beauty. Just about to head overseas in a fortnight and was in the market for one

    • Isn't 20,000mah the highest you can take on a flight?

      • 27,000mah

      • Needs to be under 100Wh, or about 27,000mAh @ 3.7V.

        • How can you tell if this is 3.7V?

          • +3

@tiptop92: 3.7V is the nominal voltage of a lithium-ion cell. You multiply the nominal voltage by the current capacity (Ah) to get the power capacity (Wh).

Almost all of these power banks use 3.7V nominal voltage lithium-ion cells. Even if they use 2 or 3 cells in series, they specify the current capacity of all the cells in parallel to make the number as big as possible.

          • +2

@tiptop92: On the battery it's printed as 92.5 Wh.

      • About the only country I have had consistently check, or even check, is Thailand.

        • I was checked in Singapore Airport a couple of months ago. They were very thorough

  • +1

Great find, heading overseas end of the year so awesome buy.

After coupon discount, went down to $40usd. When I went to pay it went down for some reason to $36usd ($56.10 aud)

    Not complaining :)

  • Can this charge a laptop?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Depends on the laptop. If your laptop's normal charger delivers 45W - 90W, likely this will do. If you want to charge up a workstation/ gaming laptop you'll need something like 140W - Anker 737 is the basic answer.

      • Nah it's a work laptop. The charger says 65W somewhere.

        • +1

See my work laptop needs 130W so it's not always a fair barometer.

This will do, most likely will only charge about half the laptop battery though just FYI.

          • @Papa Huggies: Thanks for the info. Really useful. I might need to get two then.

            • +1

              @DontNeedThis:

I might need to get two then.

              Connect them in parallel.

    Am I heading overseas too?

    • +1

      Are you? Am I?

    • +1

Just thought I'd also tell you I am heading overseas.

    • I’m already overseas. Perfect timing I’ll get one of these for when I’m back

  • -1

    No stock

  • +18

Can I use this if I'm not going overseas?

    • +6

Under 100Wh should be fine to carry on. So you want a power bank that clearly shows it's capacity in Wh, most do.

Some only advertises mAh, this one is 25000mAh, the formular is 25000mAh x 3.7V / 1000 = 92.5Wh, so should be fine.

It's not listed in the specs, but probably printed on the power bank.

      • +9

They asked if it's OK if they're not going overseas. It's a joke regarding everyone saying they're going overseas in PowerBank deals' comments section.

        • +2

          Good answer regardless

      • Can you take two of these on board the same flight?

  • Got one. Thanks.

  • +8

Got one without needing to go overseas

  • What do people do with their old power bands? I have a few laying around, they don't work as well as when they were new, but still functional and usable.

    • Hoard them in a drawer waiting for the next ozbargain powerbank deal.

    • +3

Honestly get a 21700 power bank, easily replaceable batteries in those ones so they don’t become ewaste

      • +2

        easily replaceable batteries

but then what do you do with the old batteries? You'll have the same issue except batteries instead of powerbanks.

        • For starters the 21700 shouldn't need replacing until many many more years in. The average lifespan of lipo flat cell banks are 1-2yrs while 21700 liion are usually 2-5yrs.

They can also be recycled in battery recycling centers very easily.

      • Have you got an example of a good option?

    • +1

Recycle or wait for them to start a fire 🔥

    • If you tinker, open and use the cells for hobby projects or take the cells out and send em to recycling centers instead of throwing out the banks.

  • You can get the Baseus 30000mah for $67 with ebay's 22% discount, which one is better?
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313915864975?_trkparms=amclksrc%…

    • +2

Can’t take overseas without prior confirmation from airlines.

    • I got the 65W one recently and it didn't work and Baseus refunded me after requesting some photos and videos showing what it was doing.

      They didn't offer a replacement.

I read up online and it seems they are popular, cheap but with pretty high failure rates…. of course, people only post reviews when something goes wrong but in my case, it wouldn't stay charging.

  • +3

Great power bank, I’ve had one for a couple of years, it’s a champion.

Just don’t leave a lightning cable connected to it when not in use, it will slowly drain the battery.

    • Great to hear :)

  • +1

Joining the overseas trip gang 😂 this thing will work well hopefully for my 3 weeks Japan and Korea trip

  • +2

I want to buy it, but now I know about the new 140W it feels like something holding out for to backpack with.

    • Yeh u paying for that too

    • +1

Early bird price for that one is $170 on the Kickstarter, I mean unless you really need 140W…

  • +4

    Thanks.

    Bought one.

Now need to plan the trip to make this purchase useful.

  • Could we charge this power bank using a normal phone wall charger? The basic kind we receive from older phones likes a Samsung S10

    • +1

Yes. Might take a while if its an old charger that came with an S10!

    • The higher the watts the quicker it will charge.

  • nice
my old one is broken and just in time for my upcoming trip

    Thanks OP

  • Cheers OP - see you all overseas!

  • Thanks OP, was looking for one of these.

  • Yeah nah…pass, almost half a kilo, literally taking a brick for the trip.

  • Thanks! Bought 3. One for each of my international trips

Nah, only have 1 international trip. But the others are for gifts for people who do go on international trips

  • +1

If I buy one, can I also go overseas?

    • +3

      yes, you can

  • Close your eyes and you can go to the Moon

  • +8

    Cactus ere

Friendly reminder you should not expect these to last too long. They work, and are really good while they work, but are not going to last very long with the flat lipo cells used typically in Chinese banks.

Lipo based banks have extremely high failure rates and have significant degradation with moderate/heavy use in 6-9 months by which point they can't hold more than 50% of the original capacity (which you won't know unless you test and check this as it'll still go up to 100%) and if they're not dead by then, they'll typically die long before 12-18 months.

If you have the money to make a long term investment into a bank, I always recommend banks with good 21700 cells since they'll last YEARS if they're good quality.

Stuff like the ZMI No20 on aliexpress or Amazon while expensive, have huge amounts of longevity testing and data, and still are going strong in the 3yrs they've been out. Anker have good offerings that also last a long time, and there are a lot of options on aliexpress from lesser known companies with top of the line cells that are also freely replaceable with zero soldering.

    • +1

Interestingly, their upcoming kickstarter 27k mAh pack (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iniushop/iniu-powernova…) is using 6 x 4500mah 21700 batteries. Looks like they've learnt from their mistakes! :)

      • The industry has known for YEARS.

It's a cutthroat market. It's easy to lie about data and cut corners everywhere to sell something for the lowest possible price, consumers ultimately have no idea what that means or the true cost of it until it's too late.

Luckily with evs 21700 cells (same stuff in tesla) are becoming cheaper and are on their way to becomr more common than any other cell so it means we will also see cheaper battery banks from the shitty cells that didn't cut it. Which are still orders of multiple magnitudes better than what we use right now.

    • +4

Do you have any links to good bang for buck powerbank case that supports interchangeable 21700 cells? Honestly I wouldn't mind switching to higher quality powerbank but there are just so much info out there.

    • @SmoothCactus is it confirmed that these contain flat pack LiPo batteries?

      • Yes, they do. Both their Amazon listing says they do, and their marketing rep said it does (though he tried to avoid a direct answer).

        5560100 Lipo batteries.

    • Hey, you got any example of good banks with 21700 cells? Know nothing about batteries so I don't want to buy the wrong thing.

      • +1

        Hi friend, INIU B63 100W 25000mAh: 5000mAh*5=25000mah, 5560100 cells * 5

    • INIU is saying they come with 3 year warranty.
Wondering it power bank got faulty after 1 year, will they honour the warranty and replace it or try to find an excuse not to?

  • I'm overseas and I needed it, thanks

  • I have the 10,000mAH version of this and I paid more for it than these 25,000mAH ones. Hmm very temped. I’ve had 20,000 in the past and they are heavy and bulky. Can’t see these being any lighter but the price is tempting. Already have a flat 20,000 which puts out 65w but I don’t own any laptop that can run on that low power. So much other gear needs replacing. (Edit: seems I must have those crappy cheap rubbish mentioned a few posts ago - seems like I got duped but at least now I know)

    Thank you for your support.

    • +1

Hey fyi the description still says 65W under 'What you get'.

Also, wondering if these updated ones are using 21700 cells or flat lipo cells?

      • Thanks for your remind, already edited.

        INIU B63 100W 25000mAh : 5000mAh*5=25000mah, 5560100 cells * 5

          1. Shipping costs must be covered by the buyer in the following situations

5.7 Costs associated with unauthorized returns (any returns made outside of the approved warranty process)

          Hey rep Peter,
In case of warranty do we need to pay for postage to HK?

      • +3

No, it absolutely does NOT. Not only does its Amazon listing say Lipo, but Peter's claim of "5560100" + Google clearly shows it's a lipo battery pack.

        Here's one I found: https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/32794505423.html?gatewayAdapt…

        FYI, "5560100" means 55 x 60 x 100 (in 1/10 mm).

So yeah, it's a flat stack of 5 tablet batteries.

  • Wow delivery is quick. Good powerbank.

Question - can this charge MacBook Air?

    • +1

It should. It can charge my 16" macbook pro under normal loads. Can also charge my Lenovo windows laptops that had a 65W powerbrick.

  • Mine arrived in an Amazon box.

  • Mine arrived today, delivered by Amazon!!

  • Mine did not arrive yet.no updates on order. Is there anyone else waiting?

  • Mine just arrived

  • Delivered by Amazon. Tracking number in the INIU email led to nothing. Package came brand new with powerbank, 2 cables and carry case. Seems to work. Thanks OP!

  • Mine arrived yesterday (65W), and I have done a few cycles on the load tester.

The results are impressive so far, and it meets all the advertised spec.

Nominal cell capacity is 92.5 Wh. But in use, there are normal efficiency losses.

In testing, I average 80.5 Wh usable real world, which is an excellent result and means 87% of the capacity is available.

Importantly, I get a very similar figures across different wattage and voltages. So even at the full 65W output, 80.5 Wh is usable. The power bank will also output 65W from full to empty without throttling the output.

As a comparison, my Anker 737 also has 87% of the nominal cell capacity available.

In my experience, 80%+ is a good result, and the best are 85%+.

High 70s is typical, and low 70s is below average. Anything under 70% is a sign that either it is very inefficient, or that the cell capacity is not as stated.

I've only done basic capacity and spec testing, but figured I might be of interest. Of course longevity is unknown, but it seems to be a quality unit, so the cells are likely decent. Plus INIU give 3 year warranty. That said, for anyone who needs a power bank for heavy use (running from full to dead flat multiple times a week), you will get good value from a higher end option that doesn't use pouch cells. Such as the upcoming INIU PowerNova linked in the deal above.
