    • Me too. I thre any difference between this two

  • Not sure if their sh*tty Samsung Shop app is working this week, but may be able to get an additional 10% off for your first purchase through that.

    • +2

been trying to checkout since 2 days ago. called in to customer support and was told they are aware of their app problem. For a tech company who cant even put out a half decent app is cause for concern.

      • +1

I got it to work a week or two ago by deleting the app, reinstalling, logging in again, and then just checking straight out with the item.

      • I checked out yesterday

    • app is working for me. seems you have to switch between normal store and edu

    • +1

$674.10 with that 10% off through the app.
Was going to checkout but turns out they don't deliver to Tasmania.

Ive got the K950 and one of the speakers is blown, this looks like a good option.

    • +1

ive got access - msg me if you want

      • Thank you for the offer, I managed to get it with a friend's email.
Bought the q990 for $999 then 10% discount for first purchase with the app, $899 delivered

    • It's $895 at Appliance Central and Powerland. You could possibly price match at Jb or TGG and pay with gift cards. Won't bring you to 749 but you will be just under 800

    • +1

If you're in NSW you can sign up for a free Tafe course. They'll give you a .edu email address.

  • -6

    More like fake Dolby atmos

    • +1

I have Q950B with Atmos, very average at best. Hopefully it’s improved. Otherwise it’s a great unit.

    • Technically ur right but still a very good soundbar and no hassle to set up. Im stuck with a receiver

    • +3

You're not gonna get any true surround sound with soundbar. But this comes pretty close … And for the price I'd recommend it

    • +4

This has the energy of someone who spent way more time and money on a home theatre type system and wants people who enjoy soundbars to feel bad or be more like you. Or, you know, a highly secure person.

      • +3

Or someone who is trying to help people out and let them know to not always buy or believe in the marketing hype. I have several soundbars including about 6 samsung sounbars, a few Sonos sounbars and a couple of Sony Soundbars. As well as a couple of proper home theatre setups.

The issue isnt that soundbars have a place and provide much better sound than TV speakers plus with the wireless rears etc you can get surround. But When they use catch phrase like Atmos etc, when really Atmos is a container as well as implying surround sound / object based audio. So while the soundbar can play atmos and use different directional drivers, its not nearly the same as a proper Atmos Home Theatre system. And some would call it Fake surround, due to just pointing the drivers at angles and then trying to use reflections is not the same as having speakers spread out and around you.

        • -2

I think it is nearly the same tbh

          • +6

@Ninternet: Are you in sydney? You are welcome to try out my Q930B with wireless speakers and sub vs my home theatre.

            • -4

@lonewolf: This is the exact response/archetype I was describing with my first comment.

              • +3

@Ninternet: Right, so me being nice and inviting someone.. Anyway nevermind. Thing is the same could be said back to you, you do realise?

                • +2

@lonewolf: Never mind. Yep, don’t bother, agreed lol. Very kind offer from you mate 👌

        • +3

Yeah Dolby didn't do any favours to the Atmos name by allowing devices that can simply decode it to flaunt an Atmos sticker. E.g. Samsung phones saying they have Dolby Atmos 😅

However this system does have physical surround speakers and height reflections so it's falls in the mid tier of the 3 Atmos standards.

I love my in ceiling home theatre speakers but I recently did a blindfold test with friends and family whilst reviewing the new X50 soundbar from Yamaha with upward firing speakers and it was a 50/50 split in picking immersive sound movement from the Dolby Atmos Amaze and Leaf demos.

Granted this is in an optimal symmetrical home theatre environment.

      • +3

I’m sure it sounds fine for the average person but the funny part is the “True Dolby Atmos” which is just pure marketing.

    • +3

It's essentially a 5.1 system with some extra speakers and software "trickery". But in saying that, $750 is a good price for it. I have one in my apartment and it's great for the size. Dolby Atmos music on it (which is 5.1 channels with again that extra Atmos software trickery) sound pretty good, especially when it's done right (Fleetwood Mac is a shining example)

You're never gonna beat a full 7.1+ actual surround system with dedicated sides, rears and ceiling speakers with this system, but for the price and for small to medium rooms or apartments with not much space for all that it's pretty bang on

    • +4

Of the multitude of electronics with an Atmos sticker slapped on them, i’d rate this sound bar as among the least fake.
That said , any soundbar under best conditions is going to be B grade Atmos vs a dedicated multi speaker setup.
And depending on your ceiling design and room placement, its likely you’ll get C grade Atmos or worse.

But if you want a good soundbar , this is an awesome price.

  • +1

I only have $5 from the boost cashback

  • +1

Decent Netflix sound system not loud music system. Wifey styling approved.

  • +3

still waiting for deals on Q990C under $1000 mark :(

    • not in 2023. Best you will get is 1k

  • +1

Ridiculously good price, do not hesitate.

  • Is there any other way to buy this Soundbar without the education email ID.

  • Without the education email ID we can’t login to the Samsung education store to get this price..!
Am I right? If not, please correct me

    • yes you are right

  • -2

I cant handle the design, it looks so ugly to me!

  • +7

Thanks OP. Ordered 1 via samsung shop app for additional 10% discount. $674 delivered

    • Did you have to log into shop app though a edu email address?

      • Yes and then go to side bar and click education store.

        • Thanks for the tip ordered one with the 10% off

    • Thanks OP and thanks @mkbsd, ordered one with an additional 10% off as well. $674.10 delivered.

  • Anyone know how this would go in a roughly 5m x 7m living room? Would the Q990C be markedly better for this space or negligible? Pairing with a 2020 Frame. For movies, Switch, and PS5.

    • 990c has upward rear-firing speakers. If that goes on sale, I would say it will be about $1000 to start with and when it's runout time in 2024, it will sell at 799

      • +1

930 has upward rear-firing speakers as well

        • Missed that. Cheers

  • +1

Is the q800c on sale too?

    • not worth it. $721

  • Can you get the 10% samsung shop app offer + log into EPP (not education email, but partnership with some company) for this?

    • +1

Nope, app is only setup for general and EDU store

      • +1

Correct! I just asked Samsung Chat why EDU gets 10% more on the app, they said:

Thanks for your interest in getting a new Samsung Soundbar. The Samsung Shop app is only for the normal Samsung Online Store and Education Store accounts. I'm afraid the 10% off from the app is unavailable with the discounts from the Samsung EPP Store portals.
The Soundbar is already on 50% off sale on the EPP Store portal and there are no further discounts that can be stacked. You may consider ordering the Soundbar with the 50% off on the EPP Store while it's in stock.

  • +1

$749 on EPP store as well.

  • I bought two with an additional 10% off. Thanks, OP. Great deal with free delivery. The total comes up to 1,348.20.

    • how can u get additional 10% off
I have epp account bit cant login to the samsung app to get another 10%

  • +2

Does anyone have a screenshot of the price in cart with 10% Samsung app discount? For a price protection claim

  • +1

I suspect this might get cheaper during black friday. I got the Q930B for under $700 last year using discounted gift cards at Jb hifi. It has been going really well, except I am rarely able to turn up the volume during weekdays due to the kids going to bed by 8.

    • Same would apply in my situation. Is it too loud even on lower volume settings?

  • thx ordered one but while the cart showed (using samsung shop app) the 10% duscount they billed me without the discount. Has anyone been able to reverse and fix this? email for order is a no reply address and no one available on chat.

    • I have used 2 accounts to order that, never got charged against what was 'visible' at checkout

  • I get the 10% off notification for 1st order through app, I switched to edu store but doesn't discount doesn't seem to apply in the final checkout - never ordered before through the shop app. What would be the steps to keep the discount till the end?

  • +1

Not sure if the 800 aud q990b deal will be back.. if so that’d be better

    • 990 was back at 999, sold out now

  • Hi Guys, Is this good option for media room ( 4.2 x 3.9m)? Or should really wait for deal on 990c ?

  • Are those tiny speakers truely wireless and have a separate battery?

    • +1

      they're wired unfortunately (i think I have the 990c and they're wired)

    • +1

Nope, they need power, they just don't need to be wired up to the soundbar.

      • Pity they didn't have optional rechargeable Li battery power source

        • +1

Not sure which brand, but I have heard of rechargeable bases for some.

  • +1

Thanks, ordered one for $674.1 through the Samsung Shop app.

    • using education website and 1% off code?
      how can i do that?

      • Using education store 50% and then 10% for the first time order through the Samsung app.

        • thanks
          ordered

  • be careful buying directly from samsung, they can and will ignore you if things go wrong which means no warranty no way to return and you will be left with broken item and loss of money

ACCC can do nothing, had to go to court to get money back

    • Had a similar issue with my Samsung mobile phone I purchased through their store. Took 2 and a half months to resolve. I didn't bother getting a second phone while they had my broken phone and stuffing me around on warranty as it was always "a few days". They ended up refunding the purchase price (had the phone for about 6 months at the time and they were trying to replace it with a lower spec phone in the same line as they didn't have a refurbished ultra in stock. Was such a pain to deal with and felt like I was talking to a script the whole time. I didn't learn my lesson though as I've since bought a TV and now this soundbar through the same online store.

      • You probably were talking to a script. Had a similar painful experience with Optus, going around and around in frustrating and infuriating circles

  • Thanks! Got one for $674.10 through Samsung shop app with the extra 10% off.

  • Bah. Just spoke with their support and they said they haven't got the stock at their warehouse to ship out. They have an eta of 13 November for the stock to arrive at their warehouse. They sent me to this address which says it could be up to 6 weeks to deliver for metro and 8 weeks for regional.

I purchased mine through EPP and was able to choose a delivery date from next Thursday onwards during checkout.

    • Mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, Just received a text from the parcel company. Bought it on the day the deal was posted. Hopefully it is just not a automated text.

      • Lucky! I ordered mine within 20 minutes of the deal being posted. I wonder if it's got to do with location. Like some local warehouses are getting their shipments sooner.

    • +2

I just received mine this morning. Odd thing is the packaging foam for the soundbar itself says Q930B but all the product labels and serials are Q930C. Its a really big box.

      • Ahh just rubbing it in. Hah. I still haven't heard anything!

  • whats the lowest price Samsung HW-Q930C has gone so far?

  • Has anyone else started receiving their orders yet? Any sign of delays?

    • Just got my text for delivery on the 21st. I originally put 17/11 down.

    • +1

I received mine today as scheduled

      • Hi, just wanted to ask if you received a call prior to delivery or did they just text delivery time window. Mine is scheduled next week from Samsung SDS, but I might not be able to answer when they call. thnx

        • +1

The tracking notification is actually pretty accurate. You get a text just before they arrive as well. Was worried because ANC have terrible reviews online as a courier service but the whole delivery was surprisingly well-tracked.

          • @anarky: I did get a text couple of days ago for the scheduled delivery date from ANC but nothing after. Going by what you've mentioned, I guess they'll text on the day of delivery. Thnx

            • +1

@Yotronics: You would have received a text from Samsung with the tracking details which is similar to AusPost tracking. You also get a text on the day when you're the next in line for delivery.
