They found more stock at the back

    • I am surprised jv, you are normally so much more bold in your statements.

  • How do these stack up against the Ring Doorbell equivalent?

    • +2

These are better. Do not require a subscription and much better resolution.

No brainer if you have other Reolink cameras and/or the NVR.

  • I installed the POE version last week to my existing Reolink setup. It's absolutely brilliant, especially for answering door knocks while not home.

The only stumbling block was my Reolink NVR runs an older hardware not compatible with the Doorbell. The workaround is to run a separate POE injector, feed it to my switch and record to the NVR via network.

    • Do you have any detail (or a link) about the NVR version that is compatible with this door bell without requiring the external POE injector please?

      • From Reolink's support pages;

Reolink Video Doorbell PoE works with Reolink NVRs with hardware versions N5MB01, N6MB01, and N7MB01. Or H3MB18, N2MB02, and N3MB01(need to upgrade the firmware of these NVRs).

        My NVR runs H3MB16.

        • Thanks for that. I'll open the case and see what version I have.

          • @jdr: Oh, you don't need to open. You can view the hardware version via the console or client/app.

    • PinVidz, I also installed the POE version last week, however, I'm not using the NVR (Blue Iris instead).
However, I have a question regarding the alert when someone rings the doorbell and the time it takes the video to open up on your phone (on Reolink app). When I'm on my home wifi there is no problem - there is no delay. When I'm away from home, using wireles (on telstra network). The delay in opening the video can be over 5 seconds.

Do you have this problem also?
If you don't do you have any specific network settings in the app that help with this? Also what DNS settings do you use for the doorbell, as I think they can have an effect?

      • I have similar delays. Haven't jumped into modifying network settings yet to improve the speed. Check on Reddit, there's plenty of discussion on the RDB.

  • This is the same unit as the one from this deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/806065

  • Any chance the POE version will be discounted soon? Building a new house so on the lookout for that and an NVR bundle sometime in the next few months!

    • Congratulations for the new house. We will be posting information about discounts on NVR bundles in the upcoming weeks :)

    I wish they had a battery-powered version

  • Damn, this is so close to what I need! Still waiting for a PoE doorbell that can plug into and activate a 12v gate/door strike.

  • I have a few Reolink cameras and looking at getting a doorbel. Does anyone know if it will automatically open the app on my phone or google devices when someone rings the doorbel? At the moment I get notifications but the cameras are all 2.4ghz so it takes a bit of time to load up. Ideally i want my phone to just display once someone rings the doorbel cutti g out delays to see who there is coz post office just runs away quickly hahaha

notification on phone and tap to open video feed. about 5-7s from doorbell press to live view for me. 2-3s for the alert on phone after button is pressed, then another 3-4s from tapping alert to live view. Maybe longer depends on your mobile connection i guess?

      • +1

        also my experience.
wish they would make the phone ring when someone presses your doorbell.

so to answer your question, no, it doesn't open the app automatically, only get a notification, and if you plug it directly into the NVR you wont be able to use it with google devices. (needs to be plugged into the network - with that said, perhaps the newer NVRs do this?)

        • wouldn't you just customise the notification for this? My phone makes a noise an alerts me to the person at the door.

          • @Anvariel: Yep, as per my below comment :)

  • I think also supports onvif and rtsp, so no reason you couldn't pull it into any NVR? got one a month ago to replace dead $300 unifi one, really good value.

  • Hey OP, i have Reolink system and wanting to buy this. Is there an option to have a separate screen hooked up to see live feed? Like we can with Dahua door bell.
I want to see live feed of doorbell on separate screen rather than opening a channel on Reolink app. Thanks

    • If you're running it back to an NVR, just hook a monitor into it.

  • Anyone having issues with the PoE version not recording any motion/activity after a certain time at night say till the early hours of the morning on SD card? Have it setup in the settings to record any motion detected 24/7 but no recordings occur after a given time. Maybe rebooting it via the settings in the app might fix the issue?

  • Absolute n00b here, currently getting ripped off by Ring with their subscription (and sick of charging batteries).

I assume I would also have to buy a PoE injector???

Would I have to buy an NVR to record - or would SD card be just as fast?

How would this need to be wired up… would it just mean having the NVR inside, and a 5-6 meter ethernet cable going from there (or my router) (which is at the front of the house), up through the wall/celing to the back of the doorbell?

    Is it that simple?

  • meh, normal price, picked one up from Amazon for 119.99 on 11th of October. and saw them before and after for this price (disclaimer i work for AWS but this has nothing to do with me)
also, as someone else has said cheaper above.

thing that drives me nuts, is that your phone doesn't ring when someone rings the doorbell, I've done a hack where my phone does a doorbell sound (set android to play a doorbell notification for this app), when someone rings it,but i still need to go into the app select the doorbell and click to talk to them. - would be much easier if this rang your phone.

oh, and when you set the password on it, then plug it back into your NVR you need a keyboard and mouse at your NVR to put the password in (cant be done via the apps or webpage)

and it does plug into my NVR, but to use google home (show on nest or amazon screen) you need to have it wired into your home network directly, not into the NVR (with power, like poe injector) - the NVR still picks it up, but it does mean you have a network port accessible from outside your home, and you require a power source for it. - huge negative. (what i hate about the reolink NVR)

bit disappointed with mine in that regards, but no subscription is a huge win, and plug and play in my NVR is good too.

overall i do like my reolink setup, but the lack of google home when you plug things into the NVR (rather than your network) and having to use different apps/plug directly into the NVR to set some things is certainly a pain. I'd still recommend it though.

  • I would like a battery operated video doorbell which is compatible with Echo Show 8. It seems that it is wired.
Any recommendation for wireless video doorbell?
    Thanks

  • does anyone know if we can attach connector say ring or arlos solar battery to it so that it remains charged?

    • It is hardwired (12-24VAC 50/60Hz, DC 24V)
