The Card Network (TCN) Giftcard Company - Unethical and Irresponsible

so there was going to be a discount sale today on a popular furniture website (b2c furniture) where I want to purchase an item using giftcards from https://thecardnetwork.com.au/ and https://card.gift/ which both are owned by same company TCN Group Pty Ltd.

Usually when you order a online gift card from their website, you get to access it immediately and can use it to pay anything online. Today particularly I needed them asap as I did not wanted to miss out the discount sale on the furniture, but after I ordered the gift cards, it has still not arrived in my inbox.

On the order confirmation page, they have a "contact us" link, which has this email id "[email protected]" which doesn't accept any emails!
How the hell are customers supposed to reach out to them (https://thecardnetwork.com.au/) when they have an helpdesk email which doesn't acceppt emails!

Somehow through the main "contact" form, I sent them my query and then this what I get
𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱.𝗚𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀

I mean, WTF, if you had issue with your gift card processing system then why have you not put this message as a big banner on your website homepage or before customers are ordering the giftcards!

Gift cards aren't for immediate purchase and use, use cash for that.

    • They do as I had already purchased one few days ago. This was second time I was ordering and they do provide option for when you want to send.

Of course they do but shit can go wrong. Ie payment issues, IT issues, stock issues etc.

        • yes but its also their job to warn the customer about the issue.
You dont want to buy pay for the giftcard and choose "Send now" option only to come to know that there is an IT outage and there is no definite time when you will get a gift card

  • Wait until you need an IKEA gift card that issued 48 hours later.

Looks like they're suffering after a badly planned IT upgrade gone wrong so it's not just affecting you, unfortunately it looks like you'll just have to wait until they sort their mess out.

If getting the gift card was so time critical then maybe buying them a bit earlier may have been wise

    • I had just literally purchased their giftcard 2 days ago and I received it instantly but this it didn't.

I understand IT outages can happen but standard approach during such issues is that company put a warning banner on homepage or before customer buys that they may not get it at the time they promise.

Getting the landing site of a company web page might not be the simple 2 minute job that you seem to assume it to be. It would be nice if the world worked that way, but lack of planning on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on theirs. Looks like they have their own IT emergency to deal with right now anyway.

Just because one arrived 'immediate' sometime in the past is no guarantee that it will always work like that in the future. You made an assumption, plain and simple.

There's a phone number on their website. Whether that goes through to anyone during an IT outage, who knows.

Take it as a lesson about planning ahead by a tiny bit, then move on.

  • I know the lure of the discount is enticing.

But I often back away to buy a card that I need right now.

I know they often send it within minutes but they also have a disclaimer that it will be sent within 1 business day.

If I will not use the card at all if the card doesn't come in time, I will not buy the gift card.

    • They had the option to send to the recipient "now" or at a scheduled time

  • Why did you buy gift cards from them when they don't provide discounts?

    • It wasn't for the discount, I just needed to use a gift card that I could use immediately and they do provide that option

Suck it up. You didn't read the t&cs

No need for a big banner when they never guaranteed a delivery timeframe.

They also have a telephone number to call, be faster than waiting for an email reply.

    • They do have delivery time frame. When you order a giftcard, they ask you when you want to send, "send now" or at a "schedule time". I chose "send now"

      • Thats when they send it, doesn't mean you will receive it immediately. No different to the websites that say same day dispatch, you get it when you get it.

Different story if it says send now and delivered within 60 mins to your inbox.

You do receive it immediately because when I ordered 2 days ago, I literally received it immediately to my inbox

  • It must be sad for the person who you were buying the furniture for as a gift.
