  • I got Business Amex Qantas credit card.
    No offer for me.

  • +2

Definitely targeted , I can’t imagine that Amex would offer it on the Velocity card haha they didn’t on mine

  • Got the offer on my Explorer card/

  • Got it on my DJs Amex and Elevate standard (which earns Velocity points) cards

  • Qantas or Qantas hotels?

    • +4

Flight only, as hotel transaction will show up as "QANTAS LOYALTY MASCOT" in the while flight will show up as "QANTAS MASCOT"

      • +1

Purchases from the Qantas Marketplace also show up as "QANTAS LOYALTY MASCOT"

  • Likewise, got it on the explorer card.
*I don't think $75 is enough to convince me to loose my luggage with Q or fight for a refund for flights that don't exist.

  • Only for flight?

    • The advantage of living in Perth!
(got it on my QF Ultimate card)

    • Why do you say that? It says in one or more transactions

      • +1

The terms and conditions say it's for flights only

        • Yes. So you can book 5 $100 flights all on seperate occasions

  • Got the offer on two Amex cards.
Had a look at T&C but no mention of exclusion of gift card ..
Wondering if I can buy gift card and stack purchase ? Or do split payments ?

    • Back in 2019 or 2020 buying a voucher did trigger the cashback. But who knows if it’ll work this time or not.

      • -1

I did the same few years back
        While it trigger cashback
The Qantas giftcard is pretty hard to use
It required using a specific link to book ticket and cannot be used to pay for rewards tickets

  • +3

FYI amex does actually reverse the cash back if you refund down the track. I did a refund on the last offer and they debited the $75 about a week later.

    • Make sense, if you haven't spent the money, they are not ready to give you free money. :)

    • +1

That has always been the case with any Amex offer

    • Happen to me also

  • Got it on plat card

  • Got it on platinum and reserve cards.

  • Not sure I would be spending this on flights with Qantas at the moment. My experiences have been atrocious, at check-in (staff have no idea what they're doing, or are totally non-respondent), in flight (staff that had a chip on their shoulder) the business lounges (the food quality is getting cheaper every time - key meals being potato salad and baked jacket potatoes!) and with baggage handling (lost luggage and little help).
My last flight was actually booked on Qantas but handled by Jetstar, and aside from the departure gate being a mile away, the service EVERYWHERE was miles better.

To be honest this is the whole aviation industry and almost most hospitality services in Australia currently. You will get great experiences, normal ones, bad ones and nightmare ones. I fly regularly and prob experienced 80-90% good or normal flights. It’s always the bad ones that leave an outstanding memory and confirm your expectation bias.

I fly almost every second week on Qantas and I got the offer, which surprised me given my spend is on Amex.

But, I agree with the lounge food - it could be better in domestic lounges. The first class lounges are still great though. As for checkin, if you’re domestic you don’t need to speak to a person at all. It has been years for me.

Everything else has been absolutely fine and not what I see from others complaining. I’ve had one flight cancelled in the last 50 in the last 12months and yeah, a few have left late by 10-15mins but I find that’s within a reasonable timeframe. Staff wise - I haven’t had any outright negative ones. Either staff have been acceptable, polite but not going above. The rest have been great.

Now, am I happy with the cost of tickets? No. My travel budget hasn’t changed but my amount of travel has dropped due to it. However, I can’t see much of a reason to switch, especially when the on time arrivals, on time departures and cancellation rates are all better than Virgin.

  • Does Qantas website allow split payment? Is there any option for me to spend $1000 with 2 cards?

    • It lets you pay for each person separately at check-out. Or, you can buy two gift vouchers.

      • Thanks. That seems a good suggestion. But wondering if the cashback will trigger as the gift vouchers are in marketplace website.

        • Hey mate how did you go with using multiple Qantas vouchers ? Is there any limit on how many we can use ?

          • @SydOzber: I didn't buy voucher, but purchased flight ticket and one night hotel stay on a same booking, but it did not trigger cash back. So I am going to cancel my hotel booking

      • It lets you pay for each person separately at check-out. Or, you can buy two gift vouchers

I did not get this option, how/when have you seen this.
I was booking for two domestically.

  • Does anyone have Qantas American Express Discovery card

    is it any good

    • +2

Been using it for over 10 years and absolute gem of a card at ‘zero’ fees in addition to other benefits.

  • +1

Can this be used on the taxes component on QFF bookings? Looking to book QFF rewards flights and taxes will be over $500.

  • +1

I'm wondering if you can combine this with the Amex $450 Qantas travel credit you get with certain cards

    • No, that will be excluded as they are considered a travel agent. Plus it must be done via the QANTAS site:
