Missed opportunity, should've called it Frappy Hour.

  • Thanks might grab this after work on my way to the OzB meetup

    • +3

I wanted to do this too ha but champagne and canapes over at David Jones

  • +2

    Orange Mocha Frappuccino!

    • Do they even have that on the menu? I don't see it. Also, interestingly, they never actually reference Starbucks in the movie.

  • +17

Strong supporters of Israel’s Zionist genocide movement which has killed thousands of innocent children. Boycott Starbucks!

    • +4

but it comes with a free froyo - that's good!

      • +22

They dropped multiple bombs at a hospital! Where did you want them to evacuate to?

        • +4

Why not instead boycott Starbucks due to the atrocities commited by the US in Vietnam? Or any American company for that matter? Or boycott Toyota or Mercedes-Benz?

      • -2

Did you know that when they were first asked to go south 40% off those killed were actually in the south and many bombed on their way to migrate to the south. Israels agenda is to push them out of gaza completely and get them to seek refuge in Sinai so they can take over gaza. This is not about Hamas, that’s just an excuse to take over the land that has 122 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 1.7 billion barrels of oil of the coast of Gaza they want to claim and share with US and Britain.

      • +4

Oh one more thing it is their country ? Why should Palestinians they have to leave their home ? Why should they have to be refugees in their own land?

        • -3

Why should they have to be refugees in their own land

This question is best directed to Hamas.

          • +4

@RSmith: Israel is the occupier, they have put Gaza under a blockade for many years. They have turned off their water supply, electricity, communication, no food, 60-70% of homes now destroyed, displaced million people, bombed many hospital, bombed refugee camps , bombed schools, their University. Over 10,000 people massacred and half that being babies and children? Have you seen the images and videos ? How is this self defence ???

Look at West Bank. There is no Hamas in West Bank, yet Israel is killing Palestinians there, detaining civilians and children for no reason, torturing them and taking over their homes and land.

            • -2

              @sarah965:

They have turned off their water supply

Water supply has resumed… Maybe you didn't get the memo.

No one is being killed in Westbank. Not sure what's your motive for spreading fake news

              • +2

@RSmith: “Israeli forces had killed at least 34 Palestinian children in the West Bank as of August 22. Human Rights Watch investigated four fatal shootings of Palestinian children by Israeli forces between November 2022 and March 2023.”

“Ramallah, October 7, 2023—Israeli forces shot and killed a 12-year-old Palestinian boy this evening in the northwestern occupied West Bank.”

Ahmad marched with other Palestinian youth to the crossing and confronted Israeli forces.

Makes you wonder why this boy was confronting Israeli forces… And how was he confronting them? Throwing rocks at them or threatening them with knives?

            • +1

@sarah965: Yet you don't blame Egypt for also blockading Gaza? Also, Gaza is not a "country" - it's disputed territory, they should all be well aware of this.

              • +4

@Mondorock: Egypt is not an occupying state, they are not blockading Gaza. Why should Palestinians have to leave their own country and home to seek refuge in Egypt. They would essentially be giving up their country to Israel ? Gaza is not a disputed territory. There was no Israel until post World War II in 1948, Britain decided that they would send the Jews to Palestine. In doing that, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were displaced and many killed and tortured in order to create state of Israel and expand it.

                • +2

@sarah965: They are blockading Gaza - from Wikipedia: "A blockade has been imposed by Israel and Egypt on the movement of goods and people in and out of the Gaza Strip since 2005"

                • -2

                  @sarah965:

There was no Israel until post World War II in 1948

There was no Palestine either… Not there is one today.

        • -2

It was named Palestine by the Roman empire, quite literally done to piss off the Jews as they had rebelled against them a few times and lost.

"From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" means no more Israel, population a little over 9 million, what do you want to do with the people of Israel, a nation that was reinstated by vote of the UN. Australia voted yes on it as well might I add, you live in a nation that supports Israel, you boycotting us too?

I got one for you, should we give Australia back to our own indigenous people since "isn't it their country"?

      • +3

mhmmm, some tea 🍵 coffee ☕️ on this thread

        • I Smell - didn't your username used to have no spaces between the words?

      • +15

Excuse me?? How was what I posted pro-hamas? How is defending innocent children pro-hamas? What have those kids done wrong? What so innocent Palestinians have anything to do with Hamas which is a terrorist organisation. I was standing up for the innocent Palestinians that have been decimated by Israel’s army. If you see that all as Pro-Hamas then you are completely uneducated and naive to what is going on and brainwashed by the likes of Sunrise and other braindead news sources you may be listening to.

        • I share your pain. I also got negged for wishing the end of Hamas. I said nothing against Palestinians. Oh well…

        • +8

If you're going to talk boycotting you should start boycotting this country with all our defence exports to Israel. International flights are cheap but finding somewhere with clean hands can be difficult.

          • +1

            @Clear: Agreed

            • @wazza23: Also boycott all Japanese car manufacturers (except Honda), as they all built vehicles for the Japanese military in WWII.

              • +3

@Mondorock: That's a good point. Boycott everything Japan because they continue to deny their atrocities to this day.

      • +1

Can you please put my neg back. Unfair removal of neg

        • Takes -8 negative votes for it to be removed.

    • +6

I think it was the parents carrying their kids body parts that were blown apart by bombing strikes in small bags that broke me. Yeah I’m done.

      • What broke me was the innocent people going about their daily lives killed in cold blood by the Hamas killers.

        • Seems the neggers are in support of that.

          • +7

@Clear: Nope. Not supportive of killing on either side. I am against what hamas did just as much as what Israel are doing.

          • @Clear: Maybe, but what about the white folks?

        • +10

What hamas did was horrible, but they openly admit thier atrocities are considred a terrorist organisation. What Israel is doing is completely out of proportion for a country that claims its democratic and follows international law. How can you kill 10000 people and still not sure about how many hammas people you have killed, you have billions of dollar of millitary aid most advance equipment why cant you carry surgical strikes? Their claim that hammas was in hospital, in school, so we bombed it is riddicilous, you dont bomb a school in Australia/UK/America if a terrorist is hiding in their and you know there are children around.
May we see the end of this war before more innocent are hurt.

        • +2

I’m not condoning what Hamas did, but there is a whole lot more to that. Please do not get sucked in by the fascist Zionist media that tell you babies were beheaded.

          • @sarah965: I am not getting sucked in by your Islamist propaganda as well …

            • +4

@RSmith: This has nothing to do with religion. There is an actual genocide happening with thousands of children being massacred live in front of our eyes. You can’t deny that fact.

    • God who cares about political crap, its a cup of sugar

      • +2

It does matter, you are complicit in war crimes and funding genocide. It’s the least you can do as a human with a good conscience. Boycott makes a huge difference.

        • A mythical genocide…

Here is a real one https://www.economist.com/middle-east-and-africa/2023/10/05/…

Please shed some tears for it too.

          • -1

@RSmith: We're only allowed to cherry pick it would seem. You know who else does business in Israel? eBay.

A lot of this neggers have been upvoting eBay deals. Double standards.

            • +1

@Clear: Exactly. People who do not know the history of that region are the ones making the most noise.

            • +1

@Clear: Howard Shultz is the largest private owner of Starbucks shares and is a staunch zionist who invests heavily in Israels economy including a recent $1.7 Billion investment in cybersecurity startup Wiz.

        • It does matter, you are complicit in war crimes and funding genocide

Unless you're not a tax payer so are you. Australia exports a lot of defence to Israel.

    • Hmm, when you first made your comment it had -5 and now it's +8. What changed?

      • +2

All the Hamas and/or Palestinian supporters spotted it as the deal hit front page.

      • i wouldve gotten chai cream//strawberry cream , or raspberry blackcurrant

    • i thought most countries have cafes that open til the evening at least. australians are the outliers here.

don't tell me what to do dad

I found it mildly interesting when I walked past a Starbucks the other day and every single person I saw dining inside had some sort of cold drink. People definitely don't go here for the espresso.

    • -1

I bet every person was Asian too.

    • +2

Nobody who actually likes coffee drinks at Starbucks. It's for people who like sugar with a vague burnt coffee flavour.

  • +4

Who the heck drinks Starbucks in this country, where there are so many REAL coffee shops around? I can't understand how they are still surviving.

    • +1

Who the heck eats McDonalds in this country when there are so many REAL food places around?

      • +2

You go to Starbucks for the Frappuccinos, not the coffee.

        • +1

"I can't understand how they are still surviving." - Hmm, people buy coffee from 7-11 when there are better alternatives around. Why should Starbucks be any different?

          • +1

@Mondorock: You're comparing $1.50 coffees at 7-11 (of course people are going to hit up these) vs the better $4 alternatives around.

In this case, Starbucks is actually worse and you aint gonna get a $4 regular coffee there mate. If comparing apples with apples, you will be paying at least $5.50 for a worse quality coffee.

    • +1

I wouldn't ever buy a flat white from Starbucks, but I like getting a sweet dessert drink from there on occasion

  • +1

    Oh boy

Ummm yeah, will get something local and 8hrs earlier.

  • +8

    Coffee with some blood, Nah.

    • -2

      Hyperbole.

  • +19

i'd rather spend money on local business down the road struggling with ongoing inflation, instead of giving money to a multi-national corp funding genocide

  • +4

Starsucks.. local cafes way better- economically and tastefully
