A6000 and 6000 Ada are two different cards from two different generations.

Disappointed by the comments so far, you can do better OzB!

  • Cool. I was waiting for one to browse Facebook

    • Yeah, you could probably run basic Facebook on this. Just be aware that bargain bin cards like this won't have enough VRAM to load the back button.

Wonder what the profit margins are for this card

    But can it run Crysis??

    damn… need a Education Store login …

  • Lenovo's best deal for Black Friday

    Is it though?

  • +1

Can I just say. It's interesting how this is more powerful than a 4090 yet some 4090 cards require a massive atx case. And this fits comfortably in an itx ..

    • +1

Difference in consumer grade and enterprise. These things are usually purchased in bulks, so space is a thing to consider.

      • +3

Will likely also be installed in a machine that lives in a server room where the air con is blasted to maintain 20c

    • +1

For computers more smaller means more expensive

    • its interesting how people think Enterprise grade cards is the same as Consumer grade

      • It's not about that, it's about how that can be cooled in a small double slot despite being a more powerful card.
Why make the 4090 so inefficient, was more my point

        • +1

The 4090 has better gaming performance. The 48GB of ECC ram on the a6000 is good for "enterprise" but doesn't really increase gaming performance or waste heat much.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Remortgaged my house and bought one.

  • This post made me feel broke

  • Will this look good in my high yield investment?

  • Ty was waiting for one of these in order to play Skyrim

  • Why is it so expensive?? Is it just the memory or…?

    • +3

      I forget

    • -1

It's a workstation card rebranded for gaming tbh

      • Why does such a powerful card have only 1 fan?

        • -1

          RAM doesn't get that hot

        • +2

This is server GPU, that designed to run in server room temperature. If using correct rack, it didn't even need individual fan.

          • @mfu: Isn't server room temperature the same as normal room temperature? Both being about 21C.

            • +3

@Mondorock: yes, but also no. The different is that server room temperature will consistent (let say at 21C) no matter how many heat the server produce, so a lot of cooling method already involve to cool down the room it self.

              • @mfu: Im having a hard time believing that a 21c room is cool enough not to require any active cooling on a GPU. Maybe if it was 5C or less…

      • +1

No, it is not rebranded and this is not for gaming, 4090 will far more superior for gaming. 6000Ada always been workstation card

  • bargin I will just sell a car to get 2 of these :D

  • +2

Just a word of warning to those interested. I had trouble fitting this in my carputer in my Aventador, had to tune the car down 2kw to get enough power. It however ran fine from my private jet without additional power draw

  • Does this run crysis?

  • What a deal! I bought three

  • I will wait for a 90% price drop.
    Maybe in 10 year time?

  • Me: Hello Ada!

Ada: What can I do for you?

Me: How many Bitcoin can you get me a month?

Ada: That depends what handbag you are getting for me.

    Me: LV sounds good?

Ada: Sorry Birkin 30 is my entry level.

Me: So i have to spend almost 12k to take yo home and get you a 30K handbag?

Ada: You stingy bastard stay away from me!

    • Never heard of Birkin 30 until now - just looked it up. Wow!

  • Just a quick and messy calc, if the 1080Ti was $1300, and the 4090 is $3000, then assuming a 2.3x increase after each 3rd release the RRP for the RTX10090 should be $15,870 in about 10 years? So this is what Nvidia will price their consumer cards at the current rate in the future (maybe?)

Is there a way to pin this to pop up in my ozbargain reminders to see how close I was in estimating the price?

  • +2

Bought one. Had to downgrade my wedding plans but who needs a DJ or venue when we can just hang a sheet and people can watch me playing AoE II DE on the big screen?

  • Timely deal OP, was going to pay 2.5k more from scorptec!

    P.S. OP's username checks out

  • +2

I am so regret of my recent order of 4060Ti 16G for the gaming machine for the kids, should wait and jump on this one.

    • Maaate, you gone'n screwed up big time, the SUPER cards are coming out next month.

  • +2

Can't run Llama 2 70B so not a good deal

    • H100.

    • +2

MIne runs it fine (25lt/s) quantized @ 5bit.

    • You could just buy another two, that’s enough for unquantised 70b.

Probably better than buying H100, especially given how difficult it is to get stock for this.

      • I'm too poor to afford any of these and I can only afford a 3090. I guess I'll just have to use the smaller models for the next few years until prices drop.

        • +1

Just run it on the cloud, cheaper to experiment this way

  • SLI here i come

  • Lenovo coming in with the deals. 2.5k savings :O

  • Will my son be able to play Fort Night with this graphics card?

      A bargain is a bargain.

  • Bloody hell - almost $ 25k for two small pieces of electronics. Insane! With the same amount of money, you could buy two Camry 2006 instead and make more money by doing food delivery and ride sharing jobs. What could you do to make money with these two GPUs? You couldn't even build a vibrator using scraps from these overpriced VGA cards.

    • Um you can do alot infact, more then the Camry, but since ideas are not free I'll let you work that mystery out.

Plus the 4090 is more powerful than the a6000 Ada, in every area excluding hbm2, 5000tb bandwidth, and driver support.

But the 4090 out does it in cuda, tensor cores, and speed.

Luckily with the China ban the 5090 doa.
