Nothing gets me pumped more than juniper berries and dandelions with a side of kelp. Seriously the only thing in these that does anything is caffeine.

      Quick look through the ingredients
Synephrine might have some effect on fat metabolism https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7830131/
Black Pepper Extract - they don't name the chemical, but piperazine used to be commonly sold in legal high stores under this name https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzylpiperazine. Piperazine is a worming agent and has industrial uses, and is probably quite hepatotoxic. I tried some once at a rave and would not highly recommend it as a recreational drug.
A few of the herbal ingredients do have some evidence for them too.
So yeah, caffeine is probably the main thing but not the only thing, and the others are probably not great for you.

Weird how they include caffeine from coffee berries as well as anhydrous caffeine itself.

I wouldn't take this stuff folks, just have a coffee and some electrolytes and do a workout, you'll save money and maybe avoid real health issues.

      • +2

Piper nigrum (black pepper) does not = piperazine.

Also piperine (compound in black pepper) is another one in pre workouts and others, they are said to increase absorption. Nothing like what you said / suggested it is.

Plenty of PWO also use several forms of caffeine as it's thought some variants metabolise quicker than others, it's to give a longer lasting effect.

There's NOTHING in this PWO that isn't in plenty of others & are generally recognised as safe.

Been using PWO over 10 years, including extremely strong stuff. Nothing out of the ordinary here, in fact some good ingredients, with a bit of unknown / unproven fillers on top….

        • -2

What do you think the “black pepper extract” is if not the commonly used legal high sold as black pepper extract?why wouldn’t they just name the chemical if it was safe?

Btw “Piper nigrum (Black Pepper Extract)” was pretty much the exact wording the legal highs sellers used to put on the labels on the bottles of synthetic BZP they sold. No pepper involved ;).

Bet you this stuff has BZP in it.

Bioperine is a patented & standardised formulation of black pepper extract (piper nigrum).

Stock up and sell them on the street…

@nismo: You’re evading my point. I’m not arguing that there couldn’t be some actual substance extracted from Black pepper in this product. I’m saying that the way that the ingredient is listed is almost exactly the same as the way that BZP was sold back in the day as a recreational substance. This is a bit odd because for the other herbal ingredients in the list, they’ve listed the active component and included a measure of it, which they haven’t done for this one. If this was just piperine don’t you think they’d say “Piper nigrum (piperine 10%)” or something like that? That would give them more “clinical” credibility. But instead they’ve intentionally used the exact very vague terminology of the old BZP marketing. Little weird.

This, of course, in an industry which has a long history of sharing many of the same substances just packaged differently as the legal highs business, not to mention crossover in consumers, retailers, and manufacturers. If you feel comfortable with this then go ahead and take it. Personally I’m going to stick my electrolyte mix.

Does that mean I'll get a free sachet with bonus free of charge 100 advertising calls per month?

  • First off what's with the original RRP price of $20 for a sample lol
Second, 100mg of caffeine in 1 serve lol

    • +1

It says 200mg per serve in the nutrition panel. Where are you seeing 100?

      • I don't know where you are reading but it says very clearly under composition information caffeine anhydrous 100mg, Even at 200mg that is low. 275mg-350mg is what you should be getting at least.

        • There are two obvious places you are missing…

Right above the anhydrous is another caffeine source (coffee cherry extract 143mg @70% caffeine) = another 100mg..

Then, right down the bottom it clearly states:

*Each serve contains 200mg of caffeine

I suggest you start looking at nutrition panels properly.

I also suggest not telling people you don't know on the internet how much caffeine they should take, it's very irresponsible. Some people can't tolerate much. There are probably more begginers reading OzB than "gym PWO experts"..

You don't need to tell me how much, I've been using PWO very seriously since 2012 and had much stronger than these. Also used them on occasion for 10 years prior to that..

Also, a person's size also plays into how much caffeine. 200mg is plenty for a beginner up to at least 100kg in weight. 2 coffees basically.

          • @nismo: I hear ya but if someone is that sensitive to caffeine or a beginner in the way that 1-2 coffees get them buzzing. I think they don't need PWO lol. If 1-2 coffees was enough for me, I'd just have a double shot before I left my house for the gym and it would be a lot cheaper. Yes, this is more convenient but 'most' people taking PWO's are pretty well used to stimulants, otherwise I would suggest they don't need them to be honest. plenty of cheaper, healthier options, a coffee and a banana would probably be enough for these beginners lol

  • suggested it to a mate….
    his reply…
i'm not touching that stuff again. blocked me up for a week. i went through hell on the toilet for an entire day. still wasnt right for a week after.
