          Heavy

        • I drove to the clock tower and jumped forward, purchased it for 1 Yen

BTTF purists would have DeLorean in that title.

    • +2

On a weird technicality, I don't believe Lego licensed the name "DeLorean". It's not contained anywhere within the set or on the box/instructions.

      • Given the ongoing trademark/royalties battle between DMC and Universal, Lego probably didn't want to wade into the middle of using the DeLorean name.

  • I kept my eyes open and finally got one from Kmart online, otherwise they are available directly from Lego online $299 I believe,

The build is super fun !

    • $50 from Aliexpress would make for even more superer fun !

      • Genuine vs legitimate Lego hmm

these prices for such lego sets are are obscene.

unless you are a collector who will keep them new in box hoping for a high yield investment, Aliexpress knock offs at a fraction of the cost are perfectly fine to sit on a display shelf gathering dust.

Gotta agree the prices are insane these days. Not sure why they Australia tax so hard.

      • +1

because global brands charge whatever maximum they think a country/region can afford - apparently aussies have higher comparable levels of disposable income so they will take as much of that as they can.

    • Yep. Bootlegs of this set is $60 ~ $70 over on AliExpress at the moment. The markups on LEGO is super high.

  • ive been buying lego for years for kids but have never considered the knock offs on ali express.. are they basically the same things?

Can tell the difference when you assemble them.

Aliexpress one can cause fingers injury

        • -2

Ali one is very hard to assembly, many has missing parts in the box and good luck to dissemble it

    • They are basically the same.

Obviously the bootlegs don't have any LEGO branding on the little knobs and they don't have the official licencing logos. Some of them don't even come with physical manuals, you have to use the official LEGO app or look at the PDFs.

You can look up reviews of the fake/bootlegs on youtube and I haven't seen any negative reviews thus far.

I just ordered the bootleg LEGO BMW M 1000 RR (42130) as part of the Single Days sale. RRP is over $300, OzB had previous bargains at $120(?). The AliExpress was less than $60. I've been buying all the LEGO motorbikes (since I ride motorbikes) but the 42130 was just too expensive.

dont forget the resale value on retire sets, good luck for that on Ali product

        • -1

I doubt giving the sets to his kids will retain the resale value on either official LEGO or bootlegs.

      pretty much.

ive bought a few for nephews/nieces…i'd say plastic looks/feels a 'bit' shinier & cheaper but no real difference, ie no breaking/splitting/ill fitting etc.

i reckon 80% as good if being really critical…. as i said above perfectly fine to sit on a display shelf gathering dust, and if gifting for kids they wont know the difference anyway.

give one a go - you'll be happy for the price im sure…. i would advise that you do a test assembly to make sure no important pieces are missing…there willl be a few missing but there are also plenty of extra bits to work around in each kit ive found.

I bought this last time when it was on sale. I highly recommend for those who managed to get the deal to purchase the acrylic display case.If you have spot/led lights in your display cupboard the acrylic display case will enhance the beauty of Back to The Future Time Machine ($36) 10300

    • display case prob cheaper on aliexpress too

    • Display cases protect against dust but the lego or statue displays looks nicer without the boxiness and glare of a case - imho.

      • But they don't look nicer covered in dust.

I managed to get one and it arrived pretty quickly. Now I just need to decide which version of it I want to build and display.

I tried the link a few minutes agi and it let me order one so maybe they have found more stock

    • Excellent, just checked seems delivery only 🙌

WOuld love them to do a Speed Champions scale one, and the Clock Tower - Lighning scene.
There are so many iconic scenes from this movie and series that would make great Lego sets.

Then do Gremlins and Goonies sets too.
