  • Melbourne - went to Dandenong, Noble Park, Waverley Gardens, Brandon Park, Pinewood and Burwood one. Got 5 from Brandon Park only as staff was refilling.
Burwood one such a large store and they never have stock in every discounted gift card promotion I went for in the past. Not even at 12 am……

    • +2

I got 5 100s and 4 50s at noble park and parkmore at 6-7 am. Regretted though because now I feel kinda sleepy

  • -3

Apologies if this has already been covered but is it possible to get apple gc’s from JB through the use of these TCN vouchers? From memory you could last year?
How many vouchers can you use at JB? Looks like most people can only get $50 tcn’s at their local Coles..

    • +3

      Been answered.

Tip: Click 'View All' to see all comments instead of pages and the search "Apple".

      • Vote me down for saying how to find the answer yourself?

  • +1

Sooo Coles, 15% off var load on your site again pls :3

  • @WookieMonster Is there likely to be a restock at any stage?
Can't think whether there has been in the past or not.

    • I saw them restock after an hour or so today.

    • A guy at my local said that the rep would likely be coming back this arvo to restock

  • +5

Saw a guy today at store opening go from entrance straight towards the cashier with a stack of $100 gift cards. He didn’t go towards the gift card area so I think he stole them days earlier.

  • only some of my gift cards are working, hope the rest activate soon :( they show $0 balance atm

    • Same! Cmon TCN. I was panicking they didn't go through at register after I purchased. TCN phone support say wait 24h -.-

    • Same issue jb hi fi can't do it

  • Nice orderly quese at the service desk at World Square Coles. Enforcing 5 card limit per transaction.

Sold out of JB hi-fi cards.

  • +1

I started at 06:00AM in the morning and finished acquiring the cards I wanted ~800$ at about 09:00AM. Incredibly harder than I thought and I don't think I will ever do this again not being a morning person myself. It's sad that there are families that casually swipe the whole bunches of the hook even though they were behind in the queue. I literally saw one person in the family holding onto the pack in the aisle while others paid as per their limit, walk out and then come back. Nobody questioning anyone. Think staff is equally scared of confrontation. Had to hop between multiple Coles. Like others said don't go about using it right away, least 2 of mine was not activated while a person next to me had majority of their cards not activated in JB Hi-Fi. They had no choice but to pay out of their pocket as the laptop they bought was running out of stock. Good luck!

    • I saw that at a Woolworths once when the ultimate cards were on sale. A family stood in the corner of the pet food aisle with stashes of cards hoarded between themselves while the kids ran back and forth through the self serve registers buying them 5 at a time. The only way we got some is because they obviously ran out of money as they dumped the rest on the bottom of the gift card stand and walked out.

    • -1

Yep, seems whole of Australia became scared of confrontation which is opposite to the spirit the country used to have. Moments like these you can see in plain site the dulled spirit of Australian people after COVID. Both regulation and economic factors considered it's really sad.

      • +3

Oh come on, people get stabbed to death every week over nothing. Every day you will see endless TikToks of people standing around filming whilst someone gets kicked to death - Of course people are anti confrontational, you arn't going to risk your life questioning some low life who may or may not be on meth over some gift cards knowing full well no one will back you up

  • So is $100 denomination on discount or not?

  • Went to coles around 11 am at Glenorchy, Tasmania. Got 5*100 home. Plenty of stock ,both 50s and 100s

    • Perks of living in tassie. No hordes of zombies looking for gift cards at the shopping centre

  • went past my local, there were none except cinema gift cards. disappointing but might pop by tomorrow for another look and hopefully theres some

  • +2

Went to Coles Melville WA at opening. A bunch of people came like me just for gift cards, I was looking at the wrong one when a nice fellow pointed to me they were not discounted, and showed me the one that were 15% off. If you're here, thanks again 😊
There was no $100 so ended up leaving with 5x$50 ones.
Went to a different Coles, in Kardinya, to grab another 5 as I didn't want to seem too greedy, but really wanted $500 worth of GC. Same thing, no $100 to be seen, so ended up leaving with another 5x$50. Happy days!

  • -1

They pretty staunch on the 5x card rule! Wouldn't let me go with 14*$50 cards haha

Also, one of my cards didn't work. Anyone know if I can take it back for a refund if it's been opened and scratched?

    • You won’t get refund even if sealed

      • Or can they atleast try to activate it again? I've got the receipt. Could be a TCN issue. 4 out of 5 cards purchased at the same time worked.

        • Did you get it sorted,?

          • @Regie69: yeah, seemed to be the issue that were having with delayed activation. Was weird though cause 1 out of 5 took ~24hrs to activate

  • the activation system was dying, two of the gift cards failed to activate but took my money then I had to deal with refunds and getting another 2

    • So how did you get the refund?

      • just like normal card refund, had to insert and put pin. 3-5 days for refund then they chucked the card that doesnt work in the bin and gave me fresh ones to buy

  • I got 5x 100. Plenty of 50s at Wynyard station

    • What cards though ? Any JB ones ?

    • Does that coles participate in the weekly specials? I thought they didnt.

  • South-east Melbourne report: Mentone, Southland and Hampton picked clean of anything with JB Hi-Fi. Sandringham had a lot of $30 Teen cards left.

  • Reckon Coles will do a restock tomorrow?

    • Not when there is a promotion active.

  • +1

Anyone have any luck with redeeming them yet?

    • Sound like from above, it will take 24 hours to activate this time.

      • Interesting, cause when I check the balance, they already have money in it

    • 2/7 cards loaded with balance, other 5 showing $0 and 1 Jan 0001 expiry date

      • +1

All 5/5 of mine still show $0 balance. I bought them 5 hours ago. :(

  • Yep I got 810$ and managed to redeem upto 750$

    • How to redeem???

      • Not sure what you meant by redeem but I meant getting the product I wanted in JbHifi, need to eftpos the gift cards. It's in the OP comment, in the first page I think.

        • I see, the problem right now is that JB can't scan the related card as of now :(

  • +1

all the efforts to save $150 (or less) :)

    • I only have one thing to procure (a Samsung Fold 5) and I am not even sure it will be from JB HiFi or the good guys.

This was ultimately why I chose not to bother this morning.

Assuming 5x $100 Home gift cards, that's outlying $425 for a potential $75 saving but the $425 may be wasted. What I need is a $500-600 trade in discount on top of a sale price.

      • +1

isn't fold 5 like $2,000 ~ $ 2,500? you will need 25 $100 to max out the saving. no way you'd get that many without taking 25 home and be ready to welcome coles staff dirty look, snarky comments. i don't like the whole 15% off GC events, either people steal them home, gather at card aisle like hordes or staff turn empowered gatekeepers

        • $2800 for the 512Gb model.

And yeah, I wouldn't be able to get that many gift cards.

I also have a $1500 spend to make next month to get my 90k velocity points. I need to delay as much spending as I can till the 8th Dec as I've met this month's spend requirement already.

      • +1

Not following why it "may be wasted"… Don't Home cards cover both JB and TGG.
        Also don't believe that's a "potential $75 saving"… Wouldn't it be a definite $75 saving outright.

        • Because the best Samsung Fold 5 mobile deals have been from the Samsung shop itself. And usually those deals are for a short period of time and not necessarily able to be price matched from JB or TGG. We're talking sub $1k deals form Samsung shop which for a $2800 phone, 15% gift cards isn't going to do much to getting the phone down to that price.

I have nothing else to spend gift cards on… got a new house being built so being frugal.

  • +1

Inner-west Melbourne report (specific to JB HiFi cards): Coles Highpoint - only $30 Kids left at 9am. // Coles Essendon - a whole stack of $50 & $30 Teens and Kids still available at 1pm.

    • Nothing currently at Footscray

  • Where can you exchange tcn cards to digital cards ie jb hifi can’t find it

  • Any experiences from Sydney CBD Coles stores? Not sure if checking in after work will be worth it.

  • Heaps at Bayswater Vic
    just no Teens and Kids

    • +1

      OOS :(

      • wow really? i was there 15mins before i made that post and there was heaps of Hers, Him, Active and shop ones?
anyways surprised that many got sold in an hour. If i had to make a guess i reckon there was atleast 80-100 cards

        • +1

His and Hers are not part of the deal unfortunately. Definitely no home (but heaps of ultimate cards which aren’t part of the promo)

          • @Kidaway: Apologies! your right Him and Hers arent in the deal. Just looking at the picture i sent my partner there were still quiet Active and Shop ones.
I was wondering why there was so many of these 4 types left. Guess no one wants non JB Hifi ones and Him/Hers arent in the promo

  • Chatted to a nice guy instore. He said all got cleaned out within 15 mins of opening. Then he said let me just check in cupboard and he found a pack of unopened Home 100s and was happy to give me 5 🤓 (so still some left at Toowong if quick)

  • No stock anywhere as usual

    • I found heaps in the affluent areas where people don't bother with 15% off.

  • I didn't get to go until after lunch but managed to get 10x $50 cards (had to go to two different Coles stores). Happy with that, get to upgrade the kids Xbox for Chrissy. :-)

All the $100 cards went quickly.

  • Went to 2 store today, only had $30 ones left.

Didn't buy any as the denomination is just too small for my $2000 purchase…..

  • +1

I bought $100 Home cards, checking the balance online with the card number and pin works (and shows $100 balance) - but I cannot redeem for JB gift card on TCN website, it says "Please check your Card Number and try again. Or contact us for assistance."

    Anyone else running into this?

edit: ok its not just me, I guess I'll wait

    • Aren't these just EFTPOS cards that can be used at JB-HIFI for payment?

      • TCN cards can (sometimes) be used to exchange online for a digital JB gift card. I say sometimes because in the past they have taken away this capability, and then randomly bring it back. But this is available at this current time. Maybe wookiemonster knows more as to why

  • I just got tcn cards and it kept saying check number took 3 times for me to get it to work and exchange for jb card?
Now I tried next time again says check card number I checked balance on them and shows balance I have a few to do and this is a pain anyone know what’s going on

  • Staff said within first 10 mina bunch of people came in swamp the place. Can't control limit of 5 each heh

  • Does anyone know if you can split the payment online at JB HI FI (so part gift card and the remaining with card)?

    • +1

      Yes, you can

      • Thanks heaps

      • do you know if multiple giftcards can be used?

        • yeap

          • @kuls: Just a little confused right now because I asked live chat and heres the response:

"We can allow payments of a credit card and JB branded gift cards online but for 3rd party gift cards or purchases with multiple JB gift cards you will have to head in store"

            • +1

@Mike2k19: you'll have to convert TCN cards to JBHifi online gift cards first
              activate the TCN card https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14606962/redir
follow these steps to convert to JbHifi GC https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14605251/redir

              • @kuls: Ohh ok, and this will allow me to use for example 10 jb hi fi cards online?

            • +1

@Mike2k19: Online you need to convert to jbhifi cards on The Card Network website. It looks to not be working for anyone yet. You can't use the actual gift cards online.

            • +1

@Mike2k19: You can definitely use multiple JB gift cards online in a transaction. I've done that just days ago. I'm not sure if you can do that with any remaining payment with a credit/debit card, my gut feeling says yes.

If you have multiple TCN gift cards that support JB, you'd have to exchange for JB gift cards first.

  • If you check the balance and it shows are the funds available to use right away in store?
As I’m trying to swap mine for jb cards first one took 3 attempts before it worked and I tried a few other cards and comes up check number?
They all show balance but if I go to a store will it be available to use as it’s a pain in ass if I can’t.
I tried exchanging the other 4 tcn cards to jb cards but just get check number what’s going on.

  • +14

For everybody trying to redeem for online JB HI FI gift cards and getting the "Please check your Card Number and try again. Or contact us for assistance."

    this fix worked for me:

    1. Go to https://choice.gift/pages/check-balance and check balance, thereby "registering" the card under your details. You should get an email if done successfully that the card is now registered.

    2. Then go and try swap for JB HI FI online gift card.

    Worked for me.

    • this worked for me. thanks a lot.

    • I happened to do this before and it didn't work. I checked the balance on two cards (showing correctly) and didn't get any emails, nor can I swap them yet.

edit: Nope, looks like a different balance check link, since it asks for the full card number where as before it was only part of the number and had a "I am not a robot" button too. Trying now…

      Working! Thanks.

      • it only works for the card that showing correct balance, some of mine still showing 0 balance with expiry 0001, but thanks for the tip

        • Yes, those ones you will need to wait to be activated. But once activated, this step seems to be rectifying the issue.

          • @Twitchh: thanks, I can confirm the one showing balance indeed work with your method (and it didn't work with the check-balance on thecardnetworks itself, which is stupid, as the check-balance website looked nearly identical)

    • Thank you so much. Worked now

    • It works, thank you so much.. Just placed my order

    • This worked thanks! Just redeemed 18 cards at JB.

  • I have purchased both Active and Shop TCN cards. Curiously, Is it still possible to use these at JBHIFI using these cards selecting Savings on the EFTPOS terminal like a normal VIS/Mastercard?

    • I think these 2 can't be used at JB

      • +3

How would the EFTPOS system distinguish if your using these cards and press Savings tho?
