3.6v vacuum, I think a dustpan and broom would be a better option.

  • +40

    Landfill junk

    • Cheaper than toddler toy vacuums.

    • +1

Mkaes you wonder how much stuff that's produced these days is exactly that!

    • Agreed, I purchased one of these from Bunnings a few years ago and it didn't even last a couple of months.

  • got one thanks.

  • +6

You didn't say "first post, please be gentle".

Therefore - Store in title plz.

    • +12

Was too much excited to find anything before anyone else :)

  • & its gone!

  • Got it. Thanks OP

  • Got one but fully expecting order to be cancelled!

  • I keep missing these Big W price errors by seconds

    • +5

You didn't miss much. It's weak, destined soon for landfill

      • Wouldn’t mind to try it tho for the car

      • Same

  • Got one. Good for my camping trip. Thanks OP

    • Why?

      • To vacuum inside the tent probably

  • 5.4W of power, it has to be a fan at that power

    • Did you mean the "5.4Wh Li-Ion …"? That's battery capacity (energy) = 1500mAh that may be more familiar.

  • +2

These have always been terrible. Ever since the first dust buster was released about 30 years ago

    • +2

I've had two of the first gen lithium powered ones and they've been great use it all the time with no issues

  • +1

    does this thing suck?

  • +2

Had this exact design (different colour scheme) bought like 8-10 years ago. Absolute rubbish.

If the internals are somehow reworked since then and you get a good unit, good for ya.

Otherwise you just wasted 7$ that could be a good maccas lunch.

    • +9

Macca's is never a good lunch

      • +1

I’ve had many succulent lunch meals from McDonald’s

  • +1

let's just say you get what you pay for

  • no stock in whole Melbourne. looks like this was considered a smoking device

    • Could of bought 10 in Darwin…but the deal breaker is it’s Darwin 👎🏼

      • +1

        Could you of?

  • This vacuum sucks…

I have one of these, also picked it up for around this price as a clearance at bunnings. At the time I didn't have a dyson style stick vacuum, and so it was convenient at times.

It's weak as piss, but you can rely on it to pick up crumbs from hard wood floors, and I used to do under the couch cushions with it and it was OK. The battery went flat eventually and wouldn't charge, so I broke it open and its powered by a single 18650 battery, which while not much is at least easily replaceable. In my case I just gave it a bit of a jump, put it back together and it charged and worked fine after that. Moral, don't run it totally flat.

My biggest issue with these things is the filters, they get manky because they are in contact with the dust bin and you need to clean them. Its not the greatest vac, and probably useless for cleaning the car or any carpet, but if you just need to pick up crumbs from under your kids high chair or vac things off a hard surface it will be OK.

And for all the people saying it's a fan, you clearly haven't opened up a vacuum motor, they are all fans

    • My sister has a very similar one. It certainly won't replace any much larger or powerful vacs… However in her case, she uses it to vacuum up hair on tiles and in her case, it works perfectly.

      • +1

I'm sorry but I can't imagine anyone possibly vacuuming up tiles with this thing. I feel like 1 tile would prove difficult, more than 1 on your hands and knees.. doesn't sound fun!

        • Yeah why buy this piece of junk when you can get a stick vac that can do little jobs and big jobs?

          • @alcadive: Is there a stick vac this small for 7 dollars anywhere?

            • @Jackson: How do you vacuum the rest of your house?

              • +1

@alcadive: I have a Xiaomi robot vac, so I use that every few days but in between I just have to do small clean ups. I have since got a stick vac that I use instead, which came in handy when I had I repair the robot vac.

Technically you could ask the robot to spot clean but it takes longer and is less convenient. The robot vac is the real game game changer, anyone who doesn't have one is really wasting time

                • @Jackson: Which Xiaomi model do you have?

                  • @SgtGory: The original Xiaomi 1s, I and a friend hve it and it's a real workhorse, and we have both had a failure but been bale of fix it quite easily, and parts are readily available and cheap

  • Bought one before at woolworths for $20. At $7 it's a steal but $49? Naaah. Sucking power is meh, can pick up light dust but larger grain sand is a struggle.

    • That requires an upgrade to the Sandbuster™

  • +3

    Nice toy for my 3yo.

  • +2

I had one of these when I just needed a cheap vacuum for a short time while my main one got repaired.

People jokes about a dustpan and broom being better, but they're not wrong.
It failed to vacuum up basically anything. I threw it out a few days later.

  • +6

For those who complained its too cheap, too weak, landfill etc…I think this will make a fantastic toy for your kid and who knows, your house might be a little bit cleaner.

  • Just sold out both NT stores. Spewing I had it in the cart & it available. They didn't even reserve it for me while I was still shopping

    • I ordered 4 from Gateway, but based on the commentary here, they’re all yours 😬

      • Why? You only have 2 arms and these would make shitty secret Santa gifts.

        • I’m a shitty human with shitty Darwinites in my life 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • +1

this deal sucks because this item doesn't

  • I haven’t seen one of these in over 10years. Thought they stopped making them
since cyclone vacuums became the norm - all i remember of these were the beige/brown black n decker ones which almost everyone had but were always absolute pieces of junk that barely sucked up anything at all

  • +1

These things sucked (not in the literal sense) when we had one back in the 90s. Barely able to pick up dust. Useless for anything else.

I don't see the point of these in the dyson/stick vacuum era.

  • I have one, and it's only worth $7. Better off using a dustpan and brush. Anything that won't get, this definitely won't.

  • -1

These are crap like Dyson's ones these are just true price Dyson should have them for around $10 to, all just landfill

  • Black and Decker is garbage.

Bought their 7.2V Wet and Dry Cordless dustbuster vacuum several months ago because I wanted something portable just to use for vacuuming up crumbs off my mattress and it barely did ANYTHING the sucking power is garbage.

Seeing as that one was 7.2V and this one being 3.6V I can just imagine how terrible this one is compared to the other one Big W is selling. This is the one I'm talking about in general
