WinX DVD Ripper Platinum 6.9.2 Free until 9 Oct

900

WinX DVD Ripper is being offered free again.

I've used this for a little while and it seems to do a pretty good job of backing up DVDs.

No email address or anything required. Just hit the 'Get Register Code' button on the page, download the program, install it, paste in the license code and you're away.

A little tip as well - if you have two (or more) DVD drives in your PC, you can create extra Windows users, register the software for each user, and then rip multiple DVDs at the same time :)

(power user edit) - AA-VIEBEBJM-CMZPLX - everyone has the same code, no signup required.

    Is everyone getting AA-VIEBEBJM-CMZPLX?

    • +2

Yep, also on GOTD. But downloading directly from the site means you don't have to get the silly GOTD file.

The license code is standard, but the WinX guys have asked for it not to be posted directly on other sites. I guess they're trying to gauge the level of interest and generate traffic to their site.

Seems fair enough to me for a free product :)

But after 9th Oct that code is likely -not- to work. :-/

        • +1

hmmmm, yeah, if they're giving out a single license code which must be activated prior to Oct 9 it seems to suggest that the software isn't going to activate if you reinstall it at sometime in the future, after a Windows reinstall or what have you.

        • And this makes it not a deal. As somebody who does computer/tech support for a living, Expireware is one of the most annoying types of software distribution there is.

In any event, the standard version of their DVD Ripper is always free and in my experience it does everything you need. http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-ripper/

From running into this problem previously, I discovered that the registration info for the program isn't stored within the Windows registry. It's stored in the users local profile.

I'll let you figure out what this means for the re-registration of the program after the free period has expired :)

        • Need help to understand, please.

    • Or get it legitimately, legally, and without having to worry about cracks and shit.

Is there a similar app for blu ray?

a pretty good job of backing up DVDs

So thats what we are calling it these days? :)

I know I may not be popular by saying this, and I know the true ozbargain spirit, etc.
But I think it would be really nice to acknowledge and honour their request of not posting the code. It is not like it would require some horrible registration or anything like that. it is merely for them to see how popular it is.
    Just saying…

  • Nice work, Thank you

  • .

  • What's the big fuss about this program?
I used tiny and free DVD shrinker are it rips everything just fine.

  • Anyone else finding the program just doesn't work. I insert a DVD, press "Copy". I have selected a drive (in this case F:) - and I press rip. It couldn't be much easier.
It rips 1 second of the DVD and then suddenly jumps back to the main menu. The DVD then stops spinning.
    Back to DVDShrink for me.

    • It turns out the software was crashing. I clicked a checkbox that said "safe mode" (not that anything told me to do this) and now it seems to be ripping.
It's certainly not the most polished product around - but for free, the price is good.

    • Let's not get into how I know this:

Some DVDs are "looped" in that, basically, they attach the end of one burned line back onto itself as a security feature - plays fine though, unless it's an older DVD player. It could also, potentially, be that the disc is dual-layered and you don't have a dual layer reader.

DVD shrink, any freeware cracker and Nero would be your best bet for the former, but again, I am not sure this is the problem you're experiencing…just a guess.

  • I installed this on a XP Pro PC and it worked ok. If you want freeware equivalent try Freemake video converter.

  • thanks for your wondeful work

  • still working in perth as at 9pm WST - dont know therefore if its related to computer clock or server clock…

  • doesnt work!!
