  Both help convert video/audio files well. But if you want more output formats or more video processing features (edit videos, record screen, back up DVDs, etc.), I'd say VideoProc Converter. But it would be wise to have both installed, give them a try and see which suits you best.

Excellent, I've been waiting for this ! (have a new lappy I need to install it on)

(I use this for joining HEVC Gopro clips, and basic cutting and cropping, quick and easy while travelling)

For anyone tempted to upgrade, I paid for "lifetime" previously then they changed the name of the app. Not getting caught again.

    You are not addressing the issue.
    
    You have previously been called MacX Video Converter, MacXDVD, WinxDVD and probably a few others. Lifetime doesn't mean much if you drop a product then launch the same thing under a different name.

I've been using videoproc vlogger for about 12 months now - fully featured Video Editor, download ,install don't even have to register or get a license, it's not crippled in any way that I can tell. I had tried handbrake and capcut before this (all free).

I used it for a bit. Been a few weeks since I needed it. I think it was the last giveaway version. Version 5.4. Pop up came on opening saying I am using outdated version. I don't really care but closing the dialogue box exits the program as does clicking update now. I tried updating to the latest giveaway version which was 5.7 but then my code from before didn't work and was limited to files under 5 minutes and not registered. Had to roll back the version and program wouldn't open unless I turned off the Internet

  5.7 became the last giveaway version. Compared with 5.4, 5.7 has integrated a new video compression tool in the toolbox. As you can see on the landing page, the free update is not included. So the code didn't work after you updated the software. But you don't have to roll back the version. Please visit the landing page (click "Go to deal" in this post) and ask for a new code, then use it to activate 5.7. I hope this helps.

    Laptop I installed this giveaway version ended up DOA. Got a replacement, but can't reinstall now. Was previously activated. Now license email & code not recognised? What is the work around for re-installs ?

      You got a new computer and tried to re-install the software on it? Here is the workaround:
      1. visit the landing page by clicking "Go to deal" in this deal post.
      2. submit a valid email address to request a new code as well as download the software installer.
      3. install and launch the software.
      4. click the register button in the software, and input your email address and the new code to activate it.
      
      Update: if you can't find the register button, just click the gear icon -> about -> remove the license you previously used for activation, then follow the above steps. Hope this helps.
