What exactly is recharging when not in use? Can you explain the process? How does the mat cool down when something sits on it without any chemical reaction? Why is this better than the ones on Ebay that are larger for lower price?

  • When the mat isn't in use, the gel goes back to a more solid state, when the pet sits on it again, the gel liquifies and cools down.
Sorry, I don't know about the ones on ebay, only the ones I sell

Maybe reset would be a better word than recharge as recharge makes it sound like an electrical item when you mention several times that it isn't electrical, and that's just confusing.

Here is a reference if anyone wonder how cool cats should look like

  • Rather of an expensive water balloon. does your thermometer confirm sub 20 deg C surface (or is it just a gimmick)?

    • The products on the site could be utter rubbish, or they might actually work as claimed. The cooling mat essentially works like those pocket hand warmers, that you activate to solidify, which then starts an exothermic reaction.
This is supposedly something that liquefies under stress and undergoes an endothermic reaction, then when the stress is removed, it solidifies again while undergoing an exothermic reaction (getting hotter after the pet gets off). Certainly something that works in theory.

The only problem I would have with it is repeatability, don't know how often it would be possible to use this before it stopped working.

      • the mats will last for years if cared for properly, and you don't have a dog that likes to chew

and you don't have a dog that likes to chew

there wouldn't be many dogs around that don't like to chew…

    • nice one rep for forwarding this ad, only you elected to not get to my concern. I had sought a numeral. Could of got that from a thermometer under your cat mat. Pls remember preparation.

"Pet Protector is non-toxic and contains no chemical elements; THEREFORE IS COMPLETELY SAFE FOR YOUR NEWBORN PET."
No scientific information presented. The statement above is terrible. Contains no chemical elements ! Yes probably only compounds or molecules. Surely this needs some data such as what kind of temperature decrease there would be or a graph of some kind would help someone decide if this product is of any use.

    • sorry, I think you are getting the products confused. Pet Protector discs don't reduce teh pet;s temperature, they are for flea and tick control, there are scientific test doc on the corporate site - http://www.petprotector.org/?ID=10382

The cooling pads are filled with food grade biodegradable gel which is non-toxic

      • lol, the studies you refer to these ones?

        http://www.petprotector.org/PDF/Certifications/jovellanosen.…
        http://www.petprotector.org/PDF/Certifications/studies_engli…

they're barely even in english, it looks like a year 10 kid wrote them, they're about 3 pages long each

these are no different to the stupid magnetic field power bands that get sold at shopping centres in low socio-economic areas

and i agree with poster this is just advertisement for the site

oh, and love the referral link, i'm assuming if i decided to take up the offer where i receive $100 free dollars for signing up as a "distributor" you would receive some kind of monetary compensation?

    • Contains no chemical elements !

      It's made of anti-matter…

has anyone tried using these for themselves?

    • I use them for my cats, and have sold them offline to many satisfied customers :)
Quite a lot of cat show people bought them last year to put them in the show cages during the hot weather, many returned to buy more after trying them out.
This is a brand new site that I have just launched and am including free postage on all products until the end of the month.

So why are they a bargain at this price?

        • shipping will be $9.95 after October 31, so you are saving nearly $10

  • wow, thanks for the intelligent comment Rutger, I use the discs myself and I am a Aussie, and trialled them to make sure they did actually work before becoming a distributor.

    • +1

Can you explain how they work? It doesn't say on the website. Do they have internal electronics?

      • they are weight activated, so when your dog or cat lays on the mat, the polymer gel changes from semi-solid form to liquid. which gently brings down body temperature by absorbing the pet's body heat. You can put them in the fridge or freezer if you choose for extra cool, but not necessary

        • Sorry, I was talking about the pet protector like the deleted post above.
I understand how that mat could work, but I have no idea how the pet protector could work.

        • oh lol sorry. From my FAQs page, more info on that page:
The Pet Protector disc works without incorporating any battery, the POWER supply is the "earthly magnetic field" and the animal motion in it. Attach the Pet Protector disc to the pet's collar. To guarantee effectiveness it should stay attached to the collar permanently including when you give your pet a bath or even if you have your pet x-rayed by your veterinarian.

        • I read that, and I think I've found the reason for it working in another sentence:

"It is important that your pet is completely chemically cleaned of visible ticks and fleas, and specially their invisible larvae before placing the Pet Protector disc."

So a pet without fleas doesn't have fleas? I could have told you that. I'm guessing that in the "scientific" studies the pets with the tag were chemically cleaned in accordance with these instructions and the rest wasn't.
This really doesn't instil confidence in me.

30x40cm would probably only fit a pet rat.

This is at least twice the size for $15 less:

Reps post is just advertising his new site, no bargain here.

30x40cm would probably only fit a pet rat.

lol, not the rats around here… they'd need a medium…

    Cheaper here, $47 delivered ($39.95 + $7 delivery)

    http://www.cooldogs.com.au/index.php/dog-cooling-mat.html

compared to $59.95 for the medium one above… so $13 cheaper

By the way, in Malaysia, exactly the same one that is $59.95 here costs $AUD 11.60
    http://lolipet.com.my/goods.php?id=15
That gives you some kind of idea what the cost price really is…

    • is it the shipping?

  • It's cheaper by far anywhere else. Kilsyth Bargain Center, Melbourne, I bought one for $5, larger was $10, stacked to the roof.

    • I don't think you're comparing like for like…

  • Wow !!!

    Sold out in 2 hours… Ozbargained !!
