  • OMG good price!!

  • +4

Ordered from Amazon last night as Bose store was still $280 😑. Guess I’ll be returning them!

    Edit: guess I won’t.

    • +1

      $249 on Amazon AU

      • Yes that’s the price I bought it for. I have a Student Beans account though.

    • Why didn't you return it?

      • Bose store originally sold out after 15 minutes. All good now, just waiting for them to ship and then will start Amazon return.

  • Decent price think I paid $30 at some other random time with student beans code.

    • +12

      30 bucks is pretty good.

      • +1

        $30 more I should say

      • Pretty good is an understatement

  • wow. that went like hot cakes.

  • OOS? it was posted like 20m ago.

    • +2

It was OOS two minutes after it was posted unfortunately, missed out as well

      • -1

as much as these are good, lack of high res codecs make them a hard skip for me.

        got B&W PX7 S2e instead. I know I am a sucker for that signature

        • How is the B&W signature? I know Bose are overly warm.

          • +1

@ninnypoop: Px7 have been on a bit of a journey, from original wireless Px model. this last iteration is quite a tweak again - they are on the warm side, but crisp and exciting, super detailed, with solid bass extension. depends on the type of music you prefer, but put these on and give your favorite music another chance. quite likely you'll discover it all over again

Px7 S2e apparently has some of the DSP and tuning inherited from premium Px8, I don't know if it's just a marketing spiel - I had Px7 (v1, not S2) and S2e certainly feel like they take things up a notch in every department. although I probably liked Px7 design slightly more

            • @shabaka: @shabaka Can I ask how much (and where) you got the PX7 S2e for? They're on my radar, but wanting to try them on first, before shelling out for them. Heard the earlier versions were a little uncomfortable for extended periods due to the clamping force, though it's improved with the latest S2/S2e.

              • @toastfacegrillah: I had Px7 (the first version, pre-S2), and yes clamping force was considerable, but not uncomfortable

I find it slightly harder to get a good fit/seal with S2e as there's less clamping and pads are larger too

but long term they are very comfortable as soon as I find a good fit which is not too hard

I got them from David Jones they were on discount the other day for 479 and still are, but almost sold out it seems. few more stores sell at this price (or original 599), try google see what's near you and try them on.

they are lighter than Px7 and more comfortable long term, although Px7 felt more rigid and premium IMO (now I guess that went to Px8)

sound wise Px7 had single signature, no adjustments possible. and they sounded awesome. S2e have simple adjustments (bass and treble) and can be tweaked to match what Px7 gave. they have more resolution and wider soundstage however, compared to Px7.

they sound substantially better than XM4.

  • Just ordered one. It says: Temporarily out of stock, but you can still check out.

    • How? The buy now button is greyed out.

    • Yeh I just refreshed page and managed to buy one

  • Able to grab one. Thanks OP! Was showing OOS but kept refreshing and it appeared. $210 is a great price!

  • Damn out of stock again

  • Bought these (SE version) in the last deal.

It's a game changer for me on the train with ANC. Don't need any music playing for ANC to work its magic.

  • After refreshing multiple times I was also able to get one ! Thank you OP! Let's hope there's enough stock to send out

  • Order placed and confirmed at 10.50am after several page refreshes.

  • Back in stock now!

  • BACK FOR REAL!
    Just put the order through.
    Don't forget cashrewards ;)

  • For those not able to get student code you could use the refer a friend to get $20 off.

I just purchased from bose for 249 and at the end the refer a friend popped up for $20 off

    • Not sure if the referral works as it says on the website $20 off first Bose order of $250 or more. Not sure if it rounds up to nearest dollar.

      • Probably why its at 249

        Good spot

  • +1

    Thanks OP
Been watching these waiting for price drop
Purchased 12pm ACST with studentbeans code (after many attempts between 11-12 pm)
Stock still showing as of this post
    Great price!

    • +1

yeh i managed to score one on the refresh..

big-up to the OP L-plater.. single tear drop falls from my eye as I raise thumb slowly

  • Thanks OP.

  • Don't need one, bought one anyway.

    Thanks OP

  • I recently bought second hand Bose 700 for $260 - would these be better value? ANC is important to me but probably more so the Bose 700 was appealing for the noise reduction during calls (ie, reducing the noise for the other person on the line).

    • +1

Not super familiar with the Bose 700, however it seems Bose is quite generous with their return policy offering free returns and a "90-Day risk free trial". Might be worth picking up and comparing yourself and just returning if you don't need it.

      • Thank you! Probably I should have done this.

  • +2

Should I wait for xm4s to go on sale again or cop these?

    • If you can score 15% off gift cards you could get from JB Hi-Fi for around $320.

    • +1

Why would you choose xm4 9+over the Bose? Genuinely curious.

      • +1

better battery, slightly better audio. However i pulled the trigger on these. Great deal

  • Thank you OP, managed to get a pair.

  • Got one with Studentbeans code. Thanks OP.

  • +1

Did not really need these, but got anyway. Great price. Thanks OP.

  • Thank you OP, got one for $209.

  • Grabbed one, thanks OP!

  • Thanks

  • +2

Fk it.. going over my random-shit spending budget again this year…

  • +1

Is there a way to get a StudenBeans account/code other than hoping you win the lotto of someone randomly giving you one? Or does it require an ".edu.au" email address? (There's like a 100 people asking for a code in the linked forum)

Also I guess is $249 a good price for these if one can't get a code?

    • I'm not sure if it requires a ".edu.au" email address, however it does have to be an email recognized as coming from an educational institution. Here's what their FAQ says.

    • You can use your kid's school email address to sign up.

      • I don't have any kids (ノ ゜Д゜)ノ ︵ ┻━┻

        …but also, I don't have any kids. ┬─┬ ノ( ゜-゜ノ)

      • +3

I did that too. This was probably the first time that my child became an asset, not a debt.

        • But when checking from the website it stated that someone needs to be 16 yrs or older to be able to sign up? Or just need an .edu.au email is fine?

        • +1

I think in this case you mean a liability… Unless you borrowed the child >.>

  • $209, I think this is got to be cheapest ever…..

  • Yup guessed I put in another order for this one and then return the Amazon one once this one arrives then. Thx OP.

    P.s: (profanity) fantastic earphones…

  • +1

Thanks OP! Managed to score a pair this morning by refreshing. Was just about to pull the trigger on the $249 Amazon deal too! FYI - as this comes with a soft case, if anyone is interested in the hard case, they are currently on sale for $29 on Amazon.

  • Are we sure this similar to qc45 except the case because the retail price at jb is 279 not 445. Or is JB a different product?
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/bose-quietcomfort-se-nois…

  • Copped one. Thanks OP!

  • Anyone know if these are good for the gym? my main use is for gym and sometimes commuting. Looking at the XM4s and XM5s too. Im specifically looking for overear and not in ears

    • +2

I'd say it's really comfy for longer usage but the ANC is either active or pass-through and there are no in-betweens. If that is not a deal-breaker for you then go with this one as it is on par with the XM4 for sure. This is me coming from wearing a few overhead earphones and this one so far did not make my ears hurt or sweat and I've got some pretty big ears for reference.

  • I am waiting for couple of more days to get these and other stuff of JB (price match) for TRS, glad to see price dropping further

    • Assuming you know that u have to buy at JB? TRS is per ABN

    • Min $299 spend per ABN, I think.

      • +1

        Yep
"get these and other stuff of JB" (price match)
I have made multiple TRS claims, kind of have an Idea how it works.

        • Nice nice :)

      • $300 isn’t it

  • Got one, thanks!

  • +1

got a code off a mate, and just ordered, thks OP.

  • Damn, it's just short of $250 for $20 off using referral.

  • Wish I had a code :(

  • Not a deal since i got no code

  • Ask jb hifi to price match 250 and then use TCN 15% off to get it cheaper than student bean discount

    • StudentBeans discount is actually slightly better as 15% off $250 is $212.08.

      • True my bad

      • Also the trial thing with Bose looks nice. It's going to be my first decent headphones ever, so gonna see if it makes any difference to my current one

  • Can you use this for pc gaming ?

    • From their last F&Q: No. In general, the audio/video delay will be excessive and most noticeable in games where action and audio are supposed to be synchronised.

  • Used an old code I had that was still valid and got $50 off, not bad

  • thanks folks… got a code (from a student neighbor) and snagged one unit

  • anyone know if you can regenerate the code and then double stack them in the one order?

  • thanks OP. Bought one!

  • Does anyone know when this sale ends?

  • Thanks OP - used my sons student beans and got myself a pair.

    • How to get student beans code?

      • +1

get one if you have access to a .edu.au email.
        Signup at www.studentbeans.com
You can use your non .edu.au email to signup but will need .edu.au email for verification.
        Hope this helps

  • +1

didn't need them as I have the QC45, bought anyway, maybe son's Xmas pressy. I use my BOSE often to watch TV in the room without waking the partner. Showed their true value when pulling allnighters watching the ICC World Cup at all hours.

  • Was finally able to take advantage of one of these kinds of deals!

  • +1

Beans and web site currently working. Just bought a pair, should be delivered to me in SYD metro early next week

  • +2

For those like me who don't have a code, using TopCashback offer will make those for 219aud over Amazon, not bad.

  • 4% cashback from Zip got tracked. Hopefully Zip won’t reverse it later because of the code 🤣
