  • Thats a lot of ports, would make me happy!!
Although, for people that don't need all the ports, consider a USB-C\Thunderbolt monitor, can be a lot cheaper and some include Ethernet + USB type A ect.
Went to purchase a dock for my daughter for an existing monitor, was cheaper to purchase a replacement monitor from the Dell factory Outlet and much cleaner setup.

What sets CalDigit TS series apart is that they’re using PCIe Ethernet instead of USB Ethernet, which is vastly better performed and more stable. However that also causing those docks Ethernet does not work if connected through USB instead of Thunderbolt.

Same reason for USB-C monitors. I actually moved from my Dell USB-C monitor to a dedicated Thunderbolt dock because of stability reasons.

Agree TS4 is top of the line for performance.

      • Thunderbolt docks are meant to wire the Ethernet correctly, not via USB. The Dell USB-C monitor you have are USB-C 3.2 gen 2 based with alt-mode DP 1.4 support.

Thunderbolt docks cost a lot more than USB-C based solution (because Thunderbolt has higher bandwidth). However, Intel didn't really do enough for Thunderbolt 4 so the upcoming true USB 4 chipset can technically exceeds it in terms of better storage speed support.

        • I know. That’s the problem. There are plenty TB3 and 4 docks only connect to peripherals via USB hubs for compatibility reasons. Ones that uses PCIe Ethernet and card readers are the minority.

          • @xmagic: Was googling to get some info on TS4 Ethernet, found this:

            TS4 Ethernet Port Problems

On Apple Silicon Macs, disable “Energy Efficient Ethernet” (EEE) feature.

            • @netsurfer: Mine is the opposite. The old TB dock I used was using Realtek USB Ethernet and it’s dead slow on Macs. Then I upgraded to TS4 and it made a huge difference.

But I won’t deny the potential compatibility issue with externally-connected PCIe devices. You’ll have to try yourself.

              • @xmagic: Did you test 2.5Gbps in both directions? Also, did you repeat the tests after a few days? Multiple people reported a consistency issue after a few days.

        • I mentioned consider a USB-C\Thunderbolt monitor, not that it would suit everyone. The Dell I purchased for my Daughter claims to support Thunderbolt 4, more than exceeds our Internet service, but I completely understand others NEED high-speed.
Just offered the suggestion, as seeing plenty of people purchase docks that perhaps other options would suit them better.
PS: The supplied cable supported Thunderbolt 3 only…most people also don't understand the criticality of the usb-c cable when it comes to Thunderbolt.

Cheaper on Amazon US (if you have US prime or do a trial). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GK8LBWS?psc=1

    • It seems this listing cannot be purchased through Amazon AU.

Works out to be $487. Is it free shipping to Australia?

      • +1

Works out to be around $600AUD, shipping $42, GST $53, & Exchange guarantee fee $18.

  • Jeez serious specs (and price) there. Would almost rather have a separate desktop and laptop at that price.

  • Decent discount. Just ordered one !

  • 600 bux and only 1 display out? What a joke! If its a limitation, they should atleast take 2 cables from the laptop and then provide 2 display outputs.

    • Supports dual 6K monitors. Just use TB or USB-C port for the second monitor.

      • -1

At that price, it's supposed to have it.

  • I have had nothing but trouble with this dock, replaced twice crashes my Mac on Wake and disables my thunderbolt parts on my PC if it’s plugging in during boot. I think there’s an issue with the way that it delivers power to devices. I had the TS3 and that was rock solid. Unfortunately this hasn’t worked as well

    • That's concerning man. So you're saying that the 4th version is not working as well as the 3rd version?

      • In my experience, no. I had the ts3 for 3 years without an issue that is why I got the TS4 but sadly had no luck. Support had been great, vut the unit is just not playing nice with my two setups.

    • I had this for a year and have no problem. MBP16 2019. Try clean (disk erase) MacOS reinstall.

      • Yeah have been through all of that. Also have two Mac Pro M1s and both have the same issue on wake.

        • Did you actually erased "Macintosh HD" (primary) drive using Disk Utility? Or just upgraded the MacOS?
