As others have alluded to, the 3GS is not worth your time or money. It lags far behind the newer iPhones and lacks the features of more modern smartphones.
I would recommend getting a cheap android phone over this. For the same price (or less), you will get a faster processor, better camera and larger screen (eg. http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/htc-one-v-black/)*

Errr..like the $50 LG Spirit? It is about the same speed wise, screen resolution, more RAM, 32GB expansion
And the LG supports Wifi tethering which this does not, granted the touch screen accuracy is unbeatable on the iPhones but doesn't warrant >200 dollars for a slow ass phone which is only really usable with old iOS 3

I have a friend on iOS 5 and it's very slow, and I doubt you use a 3GS phone on the regular otherwise you would agree a 600MHz CPU with 256MB RAM is wayy too slow for web browsing, games and even other basic tasks running on an OS that was designed for way faster hardware

If it were Apple refurbished (with new shell, battery and Apple warranty), it would be an OK deal, perhaps for the technophobe mum who you want to introduce to a smartphone. However, this is far from an Apple refurb, and you'd be much better off saving for an iPhone 4 8GB for $449 new from Apple. Or just choosing any of the other quality phones out there, like the Lumia 800 for $288 from MobiCiti.
Seriously??? For $269.98 you can get far better + latest mobile than this.
