  • You need to tell us what it is in title.

  • The Apple iOS6 Maps app's data is from TOMTOM, I start worry about this brand after the Apple Maps app experience. :(

    • obviously you have never used an TomTom GPS before……

  • LOL.

    Always wanted a Dicksmith instore..

    • had a look at the reviews on their website and was surprised to see so many bad reviews.

Picked on up instore today. The 180 has bluetooth.

Actually was going to go look at the Garmin Nuvi 1450LMT they have on special for $179 with lifetime maps and saw this. Screen is super responsive, bluetooth works well so far, loads of options and 5" screen.

I was aware of the JB deal on the Via 160 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/81456

        • Flyerone, have you tried the map update? Any issues?

How do you find the device when picking up signals?

The bad reviews newguy eluded to above (which I googled this morning) didn't sound too promising… but I guess not every unit would be like that.

Haven't tried a map update yet but it picked up my location in a flash inside my house. I'll give it a run tonight. I have a 260 klm round trip.

  • There's some positive reviews here.

These are quite recent so maybe a few bugs have been ironed out from the DSE reviews.

Okay so for those who care, I experienced none of the bugs mentioned in the 'bad' reviews I read.

GPS fixes were fast and I had 10 or 11 fixes every time I checked. The device itself has all the features I could ask for at this price point.

Routing for my journeys were logical and what I expected. There has only been about 400MB used of over 4GB so I might go customise this thing up a little with some of the community content, if there is any avaialble. Or make my own :)

I updated maps to v8.95 from v8.65 (under the 90 day guarantee) along with cams and software using the tomtom software and web page. All worked flawlessly.
Registered for the lifetime maps and am waiting for that to be processed.

I was concerned about the mic sensitivity for phone calls as our main vehicle is an 04 Tarago and the mounting point is a good 50cm from the driver, however, the three callers I quizzed on call quality all said it sounded fine. The volume for the speaker was also fine but was on full volume.

    • Thanks mate. Much appreciated.

Looks like a true bargain… better than my Garmin deal which cost me over $200 for 4.3" + lifetime map updates.

  • review really put me off

if i have those problem can i ask for refund ?

  • In case someone does a search for this model, I'm pretty happy with this GPS after the latest updates from the TomTom website. I think it's great value for around $140.
