Other than the optics of the delivery was the fridge delivered undamaged in the end?

      • +4

exactly my thoughts, dont judge the look, more importantly the outcome.

What kind of shallow criticisim is that?

As long as they do their job, who cares.

Hard labourers are the strongest people I know. Muscles don't develop to become large when you are labouring, but still develop strength and efficiency.

Just look at bruce lee, he looks average as hell with clothes on. But no one is going to say he is average in strength

You have a lot of trouble reaching happiness in life yeah?

  • +1

Just got it for 200$ more and without cashback :-(
Cant comment on the longevity, however, this fridge is great! Quiet, smart, big, BIG, B-I-G! It's huge! So much more space than our old F&P 500L.

    • @shshzi I’m looking at the slightly smaller 638L version of this - does the vacuum seal compartment actually work? What do you use it for? Any other pros/cons for this fridge?

      • If you’re referring to the French door variant with the smaller vacuum compartment, then I have this in frosted white - which makes the doors feel really nice. Yes it works although I’ve not tested it extensively, although I just chuck whatever I didn’t finish into the compartment and usually have it the next day which kinda defeats the purpose of it but I’ve read other comments where in their experience has kept their food the same as when they put it in even 7 days after. I’m a bit surprised how much I can fit in the small compartment but if you have people that like to leave leftovers frequently then I think you may need the wider compartment which the fridge in the OP offers - that’s my only regret with the 638L purchase and the crappy interior buttons to change the fridge settings, for a 3K tier fridge I expected on door touch settings which the other Hitachi French door offers but it loses the vacuum compartment and the automatic doors.

If it helps, though it’s not the best energy efficient fridge at 3.5 stars. With the bottom two compartments as freezers and the touch controls on which turns on the lights when you’re in proximity. Not always making ice but have recently the fridge uses on average $0.33 per day.

  • This fridge has extraordinarily low energy consumption for such a large fridge. I wonder if it can be trusted?

    • It uses a better insulating material, glass fibre over normal foams/urethane. Better insulation, lower energy use.

I found out it is not as good as my old Hisense one to keep fruit fresh. But it does have very large storage space for everything.

    • +1

Hitachi is light years ahead of hisense. And is made in Japan, not china

  • Wish I could get these but I don't have the height. Would have to rip up the cabinet above.

    • We were in same position but I was determined so ended up getting a circular saw and learning how to shorten the cabinet.

Edit: got a Mitsubishi not Hitachi but same height issue

have good experiences with their massager, hope the fridge brings me as much pleasure

This felt flimsy in comparison to the Mitsubishi 700l when I was looking to buy two weeks ago. I got the Mitsubishi instead. Solid built fridge.

    • agree. i saw some bad reviews on the hitachi. not sure if it's the same model as this one. but I have the Mitsubishi for 1.5 years now and happy with it.

      • I have a Mitsubishi and love it, but this Hitachi looks nice too and has some advance tech. Wouldn't buy though, don't like too much tech in fridges

      • I have this model. and love this.

  • +1

I'm very happy with my Mitsubishi.

I was literally seconds away from buying this, but decided to hold off. Current fridge, although small, is going fine, and with interest rates rising, I don't think spending this kind of money is wise for me at the moment. But so close.

  • I got the same model just last week but through Harvey Norman (As Bing Lee delivery ETA is in December but I need it now). List price was $4999 but managed to negotiate down to $4350. Loving it so far.

  • My wife and I bought one of these last Saturday from HN for $4499. I was pretty annoyed when I saw the Bing Lee sale, and then was even more annoyed when I saw it was even cheaper at Bing Lee's 'high-end' store, Signature Appliances, who had it for 20% off (bringing it to $3599.20 + delivery).

We spoke to our salesperson at HN, and they have agreed to refund us this difference in price. Something to try if anyone else is in the same boat.

    • Are you sure it was the 735L? These also come in a smaller 635L. If it was the 735L, you should have posted that deal at Signature Appliances! It would have been a cracker!

      • Yeah, it was the 735L. I only noticed with a couple of hours to go in the sale. I suspect they stuffed up and intended to have it 20% off from the usual $5499 price, not the sale $4499.
