  • Thanks got an Android one for the wife. I bought the carplay one last time and its been flawless! Really impressed for under $30 and delivered in about 8 days!

  • +1

This seems very cheap, anyone here with good things to say about it?

    • Pulled the trigger because the price was so low, arrived today and works an absolute treat!

  • Mine died from the last deal (less than a week of usage). Got it refunded
Edit: it's not completely dead - it just doesn't go past the boot up screen

    • i was about to purchase then looked at these comments just before purchasing.

now i am not sure if i should still buy it or not.
if it did that to you, and they are selling this cheap, i feel it will also happen to me. :(

  • Will cashback work ?

    • I guess CB is only eligible on affiliated products. Check product eligibility on this link by entering the product ID or URL: https://portals.aliexpress.com/linkchecker.htm

This one returns as non-affiliated one, so might not track or might score a less CB.

      • yea seems like you can buy at that price only through that link. if you go otherwise the price changes.

  • +1

Is there a similar one that can do both carplay and android auto?

    • It does.. but most are $50+. Wanted to buy one myself, need both carplay n android auto.

  • +3

Can you have priority when two phones are present?

  • I have got a Sony headunit for my 2012 toyota corolla. I assume this would not work with it?

It is the sony xav-ax5000 with wired carplay and android auto.

    • Dont see why it wouldnt

      • +2

It says it requires OEM wired carplay. I assume it is for the ones directly from the car manufacturer.

Anyway I bought it. Lets see.

        • Please pm me or post here when you find out. I have a Sony head unit.

          Thanks.

          • @muststop: Based on the ocmment below I already cancelled it. See philotex's comment below.

        • I have that head unit too.. Mine drops my phone some times saying "USB device not supported".. Tried many cables and different devices.. Hopefully this will fix it

    • +1

      https://www.ebay.com/itm/325786710302
This guy was complaining about Sony compatibility in his eBay listing.

      • thanks just cancelled the order!

        • You need a portable carplay unit or a compatible head unit to replace your current one.

Compatible one could be tricky, I ll go with portable one - available on eBay or FB marketplace.

    • I have the same Sony unit and I got the Carpaly version in the last deal.

It has been working fine with no issues. sometimes the booting up a a little slow but seem to be good for what it cost. Caveat is haven't used it for too long, so long term reliability is still a question i guess but for the price i think it's worth the punt.

if two phones are paired it seems to connect to the one that it finds first, i guess.

I also have it in Corolla but 2007:)

  • +1

I got a previous one for android auto in the same sale last time and it was a dud. Car doesn't recognise it (VW Polo) and the device just flashes slowly. Wired android auto works perfectly in the car with the same phone.

Seller was unhelpful. Wanted a return before discussing refunds.

  • I had absolutely no need for this as I have a kenwood wireless CarPlay unit in my old Mazda, and a three year old carplay2air dongle in my Santa Fe.
But at $23 I thought it worthwhile to purchase and compare. Who knows, it might have less startup lag than the carplay2air. And less than 1/6 the price.

  • Thanks OP! I've held of getting one as I wasn't willing to pay $80-120. $23 delivered for wireless carplay is great

  • How to know if car support wired in car play or android auto ?

    • +1

Google. Or just plug your phone in and see what happens.

    • +1

You car’s head unit has to already do CarPlay or android Auto in the first place over a USB connection. All this does is connect to the USB port and wirelessly talks to the phone.

It won’t give you CarPlay in its own.

  • Does anyone know a way that isnt too costly or have to jailbread a phone or whatever, that my girlfriends android phone can connect to apple car play in her car? Her car only has car play and not android auto so am wondering if its at all possible

    • On android, jailbreaking is called rooting. But it can stop apps like internet banking working, so might not be worth it.

    • mg3?

      • Yup, very annoying but thats ehat she chose haha

        • are we seeing the same girl lol "why?!" before this I'd never even considered that a manufacturer would lock to Carplay only, I'd thought maybe Android because of a lower licensing cost… or that she'd messed the settings and it was set to carplay and could be switched… but no.

  • +1

Says page can't be found. Is the deal gone?

    • Still there

  • My car came with wired carplay. Is this a wireless dongle to allow existing carplay enabled units to connect to phone via bluetooth?

    • I believe your phone connects to this via bt and this acts as the "cable" to your head unit.
I have a different AA adapter, but think the logic is similar between them all.

  • Is this for people who already have wired CarPlay?

    • -5

Exactly my question. I think it enables carplay functionality for non-carplay units. I would assume a simple Bluetooth dongle would work for existing wired carplay units but would want to have the confirmed

      • +2

It says wired to wireless so don’t think it adds the functionality

    • Yes, it turns wired carplay into wireless. If the unit doesn't natively have carplay then this is useless. I bought a more expensive unit for Android auto about 2 yrs back and worked flawlessly in my vw golf but now I ride a motorcycle so doesn't get used.

I am struggling to understand the adventage of wireless carplay. I use wired in my car every day as it charges my phone at the same time. It takes me 2 seconds to connect it and it never drops out.

    • +7

The advantage is that it’s wireless…

If you’re going 5 mins down the road or making multiple stops it’s nice to not have to plug your phone in every time.
I rarely do any trips longer than 5-10 mins it’s not necessary to charge my phone

    • 2 Reasons for me:
-Short trips I can't be bothered plugging my phone in but I'd like android auto up for music.
-The charger on the android auto interface isn't the fastest and I have one of those proprietary xiaomi fast car chargers that is stupidly quick on my poco.

    • I use wireless Android auto in conjunction with wireless charger. I can simply place my phone down and it's both charged and connected to Android auto

    • +1

I use my AAWireless for wireless android auto , and use a fast charger to charge my phone when needed

The wired port in my car doesn't deliver fast charging

    • +1

If you use your phone to pay for things at a drive-thru, this saves you from having to disconnect/reconnect your phone.

If your car has wireless charging, having wireless AA/CP makes far more sense than wired.

  • Thanks OP. Got an AA one. Been waiting for something like this! 👌

    • Anti Aircraft can be big.

      • +1

        For you

  • Thanks OP. Bought one.

  • I've used AAwireless since 2021 (got it from the indiegogo) and have had absolutely no issues with it except for a predictable 30 second drop out in a dead zone on my drive to work.

AAwireless is much more pricey than this, but the developer Emil Borconi basically invented this technology with a bunch of other guys from XDA developers in 2019-2020 and it has been super reliable and I can recommend.

  • Tried to buy 2 then stock error message came up, bought one successfully. However, I can't buy the second one. Looks like the deal has expired?

    • It appears there is one per account limit. I used my wife's account to order the second one and it worked.

  • Confusing says Mini Carplay&Auto Box Dongle Wired To Wireless For Audi BMW Mercedes Toyota Mazda Nissan BMW Suzuki Subaru Kia Ford Opel Skoda OEM,
I haver a grundig GX-3800 that supports carplat will it work?

  • +1

I have a very similar one from Temu. It works 90-95% of the time. The other 5-10% it can get in a loop trying to connect which i need to either unplug and plug back in or turn car off/back on.

In my opinion they are worth the money

  • +1

Anyone know if these things support "pairing" multiple phones? ie if I buy the AA version, and both my wife and I get in the car and we both have Android phones, and they are both setup via this device, which phone will connect? Is it easy to switch between the two phones?

Or does it only support "pairing" one phone at a time and you would have complete the pairing process to swap phones every time?

    TIA

    • +1

In my very short time using it it seems to reconnect to the last phone it was connected to.

When my wife took the car, the car bluetooth connected, but she had to manually tell her phone to also connect to the box.
Same thing when i then took the car.

In summary, your phone is connected by bluetooth to TWO devices - the car, and the box, it then also connects to the box via wifi.
its a lot less hassle than it sounds and for short trips it is very convenient

  • I got Apple carplay to avoid using bluetooth so I can buy a bluetooth device to connect to carplay

    I like it.

  • thanks op got one

  • Huh, worked it out. VPN causing grief. Thanks for that.

  • Reported as expired but deal is still live and working for me

  • Customs clearance unsuccessful

    anyone else?

    • I’m currently sitting on “ Import customs clearance delay”

    • My tracking history I have a "Failed to clear at import customs", then about an hour and a half later "Import customs clearance complete" and now it's Out for delivery "supposedly"

So will see how that goes.

      • I just got mine today. Can't get it to work with my Hyundai i30 (2016). Can't see to get the device added to my head unit's bluetooth. But will try more tonight. Instructions are terrible. Might have to see if I can find the orignal chinese and translate it myself.

  • +2

This came yesterday and worked perfectly on my Sony XAV-AX3000 headunit. It was actually faster to connect than my Carlinkit 4.0. However, I don't think it supports multiple connections and switching anywhere near as nicely as the Carlinkit, judging by the startup screen. I could be wrong though.

It's a gift for my sister who won't need to switch users constantly so no issue there.
Thanks OP, this was a fantastic buy!

  • CarPlay originally wasn’t popping up on my CX5 - tried another cable and it’s now working. Seems to work great.
    Thanks OP.

  • Got an android auto one, super simple and up and running <10 mins. For ref car is 2017 Subaru Impreza S.

  • Mine arrived today. I ordered two, one for Mazda3 and another for XC60. Both work fantastic. Thanks OP. Also, I noticed that the deal has come back. I can see AU $22 now.

    • Good to hear, yes it is on sale again. Once you head to checkout you will see total price including gst is $25.69, a little more than you paid but still a great deal

  • wow this thing is awesome, just installed mine yday, so good

  • Received mine today (AA), installed on i30 with stock head unit. just a small lag when i navigate the menu, other than that, it does the job. Phone seems to be getting very hot, I suspect the battery is going to discharge very quick now.

    • Mine seemed to work fine as well, except when I get incoming calls, sound doesn't seem to come through the head unit - I have an iPhone 12 which works flawlessly with wired Carplay - plays music fine (through Youtube Music), just calls don't seem to work - any ideas?

    • What year is your i30? I'm having trouble linking the device to my head unit's bluetooth.

      • It's one of the first that came with Android Auto/ Car Play. 2015 I believe

        • Thanks, I might PM you so we don't spam everyone.

  • OP- my AA wireless adapter just got delivered the other day and I think you can't connect with VPN turned on. I use Nord and it keep showing the Error 21: Turn off VPN as it may not connect with VPN service on.

I need to disconnect VPN every time if I need to use AA wirelessly.

    Any solution to this?

Edit 1: I guess split tunneling could be the solution, I'll try and report back

Edit 2: No, split tunneling didn't work for me (I use Nord)
