    Also only a pre-order.

  • Nice price. Already had it on preorder for $37.09. Amazon preorder price guarantee ftw.

  • +3

May as well wait a few months as "The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector's Edition" blu-ray set is scheduled for 2013.

    • +1

No doubt one of many many more releases to come to milk it fr all it's worth

    • Any info on this one?

  • +1

Not many Region Free players is there?

    • +1

      There's always AnyDVD HD…

    • +1

My cheap but awesome Toshiba is region free(after running the RF firmware Disc) or if you want to go upmarket Oppos can be modded to be region free.

      • The jb Soniq blu rays are easily made region free and are around $80.

(Also so glad I just ordered a hp micro server so I can watch these).

  • +1

I thought vendors were no longer legally obligated to provide region free players. I haven't seen many big name Blu-ray players offering this feature at least.

  • Are many PS3s region free?

    • +1

'Many' no, try all PS3's and they're region locked.

    • +1

Only for games. Blu-rays are still region locked on the PS3

  • I own the first two already, but still going to buy this.

I have the limited edition of Batman Begins and I didn't even like that movie, nor will I see it again. But I'll still get this because I'm a sucker for box sets and CE items.

Also, I don't think it will be region locked. The first two weren't. WB movies on Blu are never region locked (at least all the ones I own, which are from the US). Amazon's product description is probably not accurate.

  • +1

Warner blu rays are never region coded anyway, this will play on any blu ray player regardless of region

  • This would have been a great deal if it wasnt region locked or region A

    • Check out

      http://bluray.liesinc.net

Type Batman into the search box. All Batman movies are not region locked except for the 1966 Batman film which is distributed by Fox. All the rest are Warner and are not region locked as per darthhasbro's comment above.

      • +1

so why did the OP say?

"Region A/1 but no doubt we all know about region free players?"

Doesnt it mean only bluray players for region A will play it?

        • Obviously the OP wasn't aware of the region status of these discs, they are region FREE and will play in any blu ray player and PS3

    • I'm 99% convinced this boxset won't be region-locked, since WB never uses it.

This is a pretty good deal, considering just The Dark Knight Rises will set you back $25 on Amazon, so you basically get the other two movies for $5 more.

  • I'll be getting this since I own the others on bluray already and they haven't been remastered again for this trilogy edition.

    • so what are the differences between two? the limited edition with 3 discs and normal trilogy with 5 disc? hmmm.. i'm a bit confused here..

      • +1

this is only one movie! The trilogy is all three!

    • +1

Holy catfish, Batman - that's an amazingly cool looking item. Must. Resist.

  • I thought region-free bluray players are actually quite difficult to come by?

    • +2
      • Yes i can see that but i was responding moreto those people talking about region free players being commonplace, when in fact such players i thought were not approved by the HDMI HDCP people.

        • +2

I don't really care what the HDMI HDCP Police want us to do in the name of maximising the profits of movie studios.

Democracy in high definition died with the demise of HD-DVD which was designed to be region free.

All I know is that for less than $100 I can walk into any JB in the land and walk out with a Blu-ray player capable of playing disks from anywhere I choose to buy them from.

    • -1

cheaper from Amazon US, since it is region free

      • -1

I don't think they'll ship this to Australia, care to check?.

  • please add postage as well, post to Australia is never free. Charged $5.98 post to Melbourne. so in total, it is $35.94

    • +1

The $5 is a fixed shipping price per order, while DVD/Blurays are an extra $1 regardless of size (single disc, trilogy box set, CE, or season collection or even ultimate complete collections of entire 5 seasons of TV series).

That means if you already have an order with Amazon, and you're just adding this to the order, you're only paying an extra $1 shipping for it.

I never place an amazon order with only 1 item, because the $5 fixed shipping charge feels wasted on 1 item. I like to spread it across multiple items, save up a bunch of items I want then get them all at the same time. Even if I weren't, $6 shipping from the US is still very reasonable. It might cost more than that just shipping it in AU.

There is no hurry to order it now since it's a preorder. You can wait until there are other things you want, and then add this to that order.

I am assuming we use credit card to purchase from Amazon. The foreign currency transaction fee is $25. Does anyone have better payment methods?

    • +1

What? which card do you have that's outrageous the transaction fee on my card for this purchase would be less than $1

      • I have a westpac amex card. I purchased on Amazon Germany once. I got charged $25 for the foreign tractional fee. Plus the exchange rate is much worse than the bank's standard rate.

        • $25 for foreign tractional fee? are you serious? its normally 2.5% not $25

        • I also have an amex westpac card and have made many foreign purchases and never been charged anything like that it is however about the amount they used to charge for late card payments

    • +2

Maybe 2.5%? One has to wonder whether you should have a credit card if you don't know the difference!

Just joking. I'm sure you're not being stung that much though.

  • Its good , but I agree WAIT for the Ultimate edition..
