Grabbed thanks, had some coins and ended up only paying $86.58

    • +3

Unbelievably I didn't know about these coins, thought is was rubbish. Just cancelled my order and reordered with coins, cheers

    • Is there something you need to do to use the coins? I've got so many coins and thought it was just automatic that they get added as discount, but possibly isn't so?

      • Would like to know too. Seems like only ever get $1 or 2 max added to each order

  • +4

AFAIK this is the best price its ever been. Great deal OP!

  • What do I connect the ethernet to?

    • +1

Poe switch or Poe injector or splitter that is connected to the network.

    • +1

Its a Power over Ethernet (PoE) device, so with the PoE switch (starting from $150+) you can power it up with the ethernet cable, as well as providing network. Can also do with a PoE injector too.

  • +4

Wish they had a fully wireless (battery) version.

    I've gone with the tp-link D230-S1

  • I was thinking about which to get, WiFi or PoE version. The WiFi as far as I'm aware is more versatile as it can be powered by 12v or ethernet plus it has a battery & you can connect via WiFi or ethernet (power also). But for the price I grabbed the PoE as the WiFi is about $50 more, I got it for about $87 with another item more discount.

    Thanks OP ;)

Edit Looks like I'm mistaken, the WiFi doesn't have a battery so one less reason to get that version.

Got for $85 delivered at the 11. 11 sales

    • Where's the deal link?

      • +2

11.11 sales likely well over by now

        • -1

Indeed, the point to be made is that they made the effort to brag about their bargain by comment and cbf setting the time to be helpful to the community through posting the deal at the time.

          • +2

@boretentsu: Being rather premptous aren't we? Wasn't a specific deal - used the generic coupons which have already been posted and upvoted. Bought amongst the 11.11 hype to complement my Reolink set up not knowing whether it's a noteworthy bargain. Clearly it was.

  • This might sound really dumb, but how do you apply a coupon on AliExpress? I can't seem to find anywhere I can use the BF8 code…

    • In the checkout page

  • Is it just me, or is the "10%" GST AliExpress charges always higher than 10%? Puts a bad taste in my mouth, and I try to avoid them (thanks, Temu) where I can.

    • temu less tax?

they must be making up the difference elsewhere …

      • It's more about the principle (Temu's prices are GST-inclusive).

  • +1

I'm being told the bf8 coupon can't be used with other discounts. I'm a bit of a noob on AE… Any help would be appreciated 👍

    • Same for me. Tried to order for a friend

    • +1

I actually bought and posted this last night at a higher price because I had the same issue. I logged out and in of AliExpress and it worked . Not sure why but it seems to work only mostly.

      • Ah K well I took the plunge without BF8 but it's still a crazy good deal regardless so thank you!

I've always been paranoid with AliExpress because the storefront in my eyes, is akin to the $2 shop selling iPhones. How do you find legit stores & products amongst the fluff?

        • I've bought so much from AliExpress and never had an issue. Having said that I usually buy garbage and when I don't I look for lots of reviews

        • I have never had more targetted spam than immediately after buying a couple of things on AliExpress. Most likely it was the store rather than AliExpress leaking my details, so maybe you're lucky. Also, given refunds and returns are practically impossible, I'd rather pay more and buy from Amazon/eBay or almost anywhere else! Maybe I just need to get a post office box…

  • I have reolink NVR and security cameras would it power it up?

  • Which plug type to select?

    • +2

Why wouldn't it be au ? It's for the chime . Just checked, greyed out now. Must be oos for au plug

Any tips, vids to help with mounting and feeding PoE through the wall to FTTP router?

    • +2

You're not technically allowed to run cables through the walls yourself in Australia, but there are plenty of guides out there if you do decide to go that route.
PoE should be easy though. Would probably just be Router -> PoE Injector/Switch -> LAN port hooked up to doorbell -> doorbell

      • I've done it a few times. It's easy, definitely fiddly, and can be difficult to run the wires (I am lucky to have crawl space under the floor). Yes, technically you're not supposed to do it. However, once you get it working then you'll never have to touch it again and connectivity is faultless.

  • How is everyone running cables to this thing? Through wall cavity? Ducting/conduit on the wall?

    • I managed to get mine down the wall cavity using the old doorbell wiring as a drawstring, but it was definitely not easy.

I could have kept the doorbell wiring as power, and used the WiFi version of the doorbell instead, but I prefer to keep all my cameras on ethernet where possible, and now it's done it's pretty schmick.

      • Thanks. wish my place was single story for these things.

Bought. Great deal. It prompted me to have a look at other Reolink stuff on AE. I just bought a refurb 16CH NVR with a 4TB HDD for about $230 using the current BF deal and the BF20 coupon and the seller discount on offer. Also had some coins to use too. Reolink are selling the 3TB version on their website for $356, so a tidy discount to that price. I've had good experience with their refurb products, so don't have an issue buying refurbs. They always present like new to me.

    • That's a fantastic deal you scored on the NVR. Got a link to where you found it?

  • +1

A lot of people have questions about wiring for ethernet.

If you have an existing traditional doorbell, get the Wi-Fi version so you can power it using the existing doorbell wiring and connect to your Reolink app/NVR via Wireless.

    Much easier.

  • Any idea will this work with Dahua NVR and the mobile app or i need to use the reolink app, just wanted to minimise multiple apps ?

    • The Dahua NVR will happily power the doorbell and record footage from the camera, but I doubt you'll get any motion or doorbell alerts without the Reolink app.

  • AU plug OOS, would any plug be fine seeming that it's PoE?

    • The plug relates to the chime, i assume an eu to au adapter would work fine however it would be bulky on the outlet.

  • This or Google Nest doorbell 🤔

  • If anyone is buying it without the coupon, Amazon.com.au is also an option
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0B7S1HMPC

  • Somehow got it for AU$85.63 once the spend/save, coupon, and coins were added in… Was on the fence about it but saw that it includes free returns (!! - not what I would expect from AliExpress) so figured may as well buy it and decide later :-p

  • One thing I didn't know prior to buying this doorbell, is that it is essentially a dumb door bell with a camera. When door bell is pressed, you don't get a notification or any thing it's only relying on the camera noticing a person. All my 3 reolink cameras just have false positives constantly so I ended uo turning notifications off which is unfortunate.

    • Not sure where you heard this but I've seen multiple videos on YouTube showing that you do receive notifications when pressed. It can also been connected to Alexa and google. https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/16938270669593…

      • Thanks for the reply, turns out I saw an old video and I have to update my nvr and cameras to receive this feature. Appreciated.

        • I believe Alexa/Google integration doesn't work if it the doorbell is used with an NVR; it has to be standalone.
