    Sale price $36.59
    No more $22.99? :((

I still have couple left when it was $17.99 at autobarn 5w40 .

      • +1

Exactly what I am waiting for… Bought two last time, used them in my two vehicles already, regretted I didn't buy more

        • +1

Same, however I believe you were limited to 2 containers per customer, otherwise I would have bought 10…

      • FYI the Autobarn was "synthetic" rather than "fully synthetic".

        • +2

Even this "fully synthetic" shouldn't even be sold as a synthetic, it will be a group III base stock. Only group IV and V base are true synthetic oils.

You can thank Castrol for all the confusion, winning a court case to call group III oils synthetic so all the other brands had to do it to compete.

There isn't many true synthetics easily available, but Penrite 10 Tenths and Nulon Racing are some Australian group IV/V oils, some others are Amsoil, Redline, Motul. With the Exception of Penrite you will usually pay $100+/5L for true synthetic oils.

            4. fully Synthetic
            5. Utterly synthetic
            6. Balls deep
  • Cries in European

    • ….and what language would that be then ?

  • No technical data sheet? Keen to compare some of the test results against the Castrol edge 5w-30

    • +1

You can contact GW with any questions - I had some questions about an SCA-exclusive GW oil that SCA didn't have a clue about so I ended up calling them.

I was put through to their technical department who were very helpful. I was quite pleasantly surprised.

    How I change my oil:

    • Engine to op temp
    • Engine oil Flush additive
    • Idle for 15-20mins
    • Drain oil & remove filter
    • Install filter (pre fill oil in the filter if possible)
    • Pour in new oil (fill to the max line)
    • Run engine for few mins
    • Check and refill oil
    • Add anti-friction/anti-wear/MoS2 engine oil additive (trust me those work)

Repeat this every 5000kms (not 10,000)

    • +5

Imo oil flush additive is a waste unless the oil is well overdue and it's a bit sludgey. Also 5000km is overkill for sure, 10,000km is fine for most engines

      • +3

Oil flush does work, I personally experienced it in my 125cc scooter and 150,000km. Even if it's a brand new car doing an oil flush after every alternate oil change wont hurt.

And I say 5000kms cause you can feel the difference of it running smooth. Oil is cheap engines are not. I rather change the oil than the engine.

        • -1

          125cc scooter

are those the really annoying ones that rev and smell very bad?

          • @Poor Ass: Nah it's a Vespa looking one mine doesn't smell that bad (only in the mornings or cold start for a while)

            • @SahitDagani: does it go ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and very noisy where ever you go?

      • completely agree. waste of money imo for folks that drive normal cars. may be worth it for performance cars/special applications etc.

    • -1

Also, if you've already filled it to the max line, don't add even more after running the engine

      • -1

I'm hoping they've missed out a "let it sit for half an hour or so to settle" before the check/refill step.

      • I said so cause I see when the oil goes around the engine the level dips and in my scooter I saw a dip after about 200kms. I like to keep the oil level maxed throughout until the change interval.

    • Dunno why you're being negged, sounds perfectly fine if you want to go that way. Most regularly driven and serviced cars won't need the flush or the 5K interval but if that's your preference go for it. My only addition (for nitpickers) is to wait 5 minutes before your final check/top up. Obviously the vehicle should be on level ground when you check the dipstick. You haven't said what oil or filter you use, presumably high quality products?

      • +2

The negs suggest there are at least two dipsticks short of a sump on this deal.

    • +3

Idle 15 mins making the oil hot so be careful when draining oil.

    • The Car Care Nut on YouTube is a pretty switched on mechanic. He says if you fill your oil to the full mark while the oil and engine is cold, then you have could have overfilled it. The advice is to 3/4 fill it and then check again once the oil and engine is at operating temperature. Top up as necessary.

When I do my oil changes, I follow this advice. Then I check again after a drive.

Looking at my Subaru manual, the advice there is to check your oil 10mins after stopping the engine. I guess they have tuned their dipstick marks to allow for some of the oil to settle back in the sump.

      • +3

        Hello and welcome!

    • I change mine simply by driving the car then topping it up. Every 15,000k I'll change the filter.

      • Two stroke?

  • Can I use to my i30 diesel?

    • I have a 2015 i30 diesel and purchased this oil for my car. A3/B4 is what you want when you don't have a DPF.

    • If you car has a DPF then ideally you'd use a low ash/SAPS oil (ACEA C spec) from the start. Gives some protection from the corrosive S and Ph additives in many oils. Reason? DPFs are expensive to replace IF you're unlucky.

      • Thanks for info. i30 diesel no DPF at all

        • Good news. What anti pollution system do they use? Urea?

          • +1

@Igaf: My i30 has no pollution controls at all. It's a Euro 4 diesel. If I get feisty with the throttle I can make a nice cloud, but that's something I avoid doing as it's totally foul.

  • good deal, I got 4. I do tru to change at 5000kms, but often its 10,000 :)

  • I'm disappointed that I missed this deal. I'm actively searching for a 502 oil! :(
