[Unobtainable] Add an Item to Your eBay Watchlist, Get Bonus $10 eBay Voucher @ eBay

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Mod note:

eBay has contacted Ozbargain on the afternoon of December 6th and has requested for the details of the deal to be updated, as it initially did not outline the terms & conditions of the $10 'Voucher' (which has a $100 minimum spend requirement, only applies on 'eligible items' and excludes postage costs). As the title & description of the deal omitted these details, it has been moved to the forums as unobtainable.

Update Dec 12: The terms of the offer changed again. Please read the new terms found
at https://pages.ebay.com.au/buyer_coupons/2023/watchlist10/

  • So how do you get the $10? No instructions or the process stated. I added an item to watchlist now what just wait?

    • +2

Yeah set reminder to check on 13 December.

    • +1

Yeah, add an item before the 12th and it will be issued after then (I assume). Ebay still haven't provided the full terms so I'll update the post once its explained.

  • +2

Add it to your Watchlist from 1-12 Dec Add them all now NOT one a day ?

  • The wording is a little confusing. Is the prize value equal to the watchlist item price as long as it is below the max prize amount?

  • +1

Btw I would suggest around a $2000 wishlisted item. 10,000/5 = 2000 so it’s around the equal ish price.

    • +1

You mean that the item i put in wishlist should be priced near $2000?

  • Sounds good but critical info is the minimum spend of the $10 voucher

  • +1

So each watchlist item is a ticket with a max of 10 tickets. Does it matter at all the value of the items in watchlist? The wording suggests they will give you one of the watched items.

    • It's not clear to me about the value. The t&c appear to be contradictory

      From t&c

Single use eBay coupon to be used to purchase items in the winner’s Watchlist or otherwise listed on eBay.com.au,

The terms and conditions applicable to the use of the eBay coupon to be used to purchase an item(s) in the winner’s Watchlist

I really don't know if the coupon has to be used to buy the item on the watch list

      • +1

since the prize is an actual coupon, I don't believe it makes difference what the participant adds to their watchlist or its value. otherwise, what would happen if the watchlist item is no longer available when the participant wins? or what if the participant adds an item that's $5000 but the winning prize is $2000 coupon is ebay going to force the winner to buy it?

  • +1

I’m here for the tears. I hope I have understood. Suddenly Ebay’s going to deliver vouchers, for free. No eBay plus membership or anything? Reliably? oh boy this is going to be entertaining.

  • -1

what is the most expensive thing i can watchlist to win hmm

    • the value of the item doesn't make a difference nor does the item itself as all winners get a coupon with a value of $2000 for 1-10 dec, and $5000 for 11th dec, and $10000 for 12th dec

  • +2

eBay is unfortunately the only selling system I am comfortable with. However, it has the most annoying customer service. Their algorithm needs some work as offers that are promised not working sometimes or not arriving at the date they are promised. I would really be happy to see an alternative rising. (Don't say FB marketplace)

  • +2

Does anyone understand if you can just add 10 items right now today and be eligible for the draw each day? Or do we have to go in and add items each day?

    • based on t&c, if you add 10 now, it'll go into tomorrow's draw and you can no longer participate after tomorrow as you've used all your 10 entries. I'm going to add 2,2,2,2,1,1 each day

      • Ahh I see. I just added a bunch of drones priced around $50 yesterday. I don't really mind, adding things every day sounds like work.

        • for only 6 days isn't a lot of work, if you miss a day, you just include more in the next watchlist

      • dang, just added 6. at least ive got 4 left i suppose thanks for the translation!

      • -2

I'm going to add 2,2,2,2,1,1 each day

lol, you are lowering your chances of winning …

  • the T&C say promo ends 12th Dec, but the blurb above the T&C say ends 15th December, which is it?

  • Do those items need to be in Australia?

    • +1
      Items listed on eBay.com.au and located in Australia;

      Items from Australian Sellers;

Items that are ‘Buy It Now’ format, and not in Auction format (even with a ‘Buy It Now’ option); and

Items that are not Excluded Items.

    What a convoluted w@nk

  • +10

Didn't think my respect for ebay could get any lower, yet here we are

  • +2

    I'm surprised eBay contacted Ozbargain

  • +2

Their web team and/or marketing area are laughable. They look so amateurish compared to Amazon and other competitors.

It's why they have to keep offering eBay Plus at substantial discounts. Even OzBargain Premium is streets ahead of it.

  • +2

Knew this was bs. Anyone get the $10?

    • +1

      $100 minimum spend

      • Ah thought this was the wishlist/watchlist promo just for adding items to watch list.

    • +1

I received a message from ebay saying i got a $10 voucher, but it's minimum $50 spend. But when I clicked on the T&C, it says $10 of $90 spend. Haha expected it.

      • +4

Lol better off ignoring it and saving $80.

      • this $10 from NOV promo "buy $90 receive $10".

  • When do they give the $10 voucher to anyone who participates?

  • eBay has once again updated the terms of this offer. In an email they sent, they wanted Ozbargain to highlight 2 new clauses, even though the deal has already been moved to the forums as unobtainable (I'm not sure they know that). I've marked them with a ❗ emoji to show you what the new terms are.

    The new clauses are:
eBay members must be subscribed or opted into eBay marketing communications to be eligible.
Number of voucher redemptions reduced from 5 to single use.

    • +1

Thanks very much for the updates Scrimshaw. I just want to apologise for the troubles my post has caused you.

  • Yeah I doubt people would even receive a free $10 voucher for adding one or more items to their watchlist.. will have to unwatch them all eventually.

    • Can't you unwatch them now, since the promo ended yesterday?

      • Sure.
Wonder if anyone got a tenner..

  • +1

I just got my $10 voucher for this.

    • I got $10 with minimum spend of $100

      • That is what everybody gets

        • +1

          yap…$100 minimum spend.

          • @s0805: No deal
            5 /15 spend better

  • I didn't get my voucher so opened up a support case, they advised this:

"As promised on chat, I have forwarded the details to our team and they have checked that you opted for only General email promotions.

They have suggested that you will need to enable all notifications under Marketing communication using the below link and be assured once you do that you will receive the voucher in the next 72 hours.

    https://commspreferences.ebay.com.au/commsprefs

If in case you still don't receive the voucher even within the timeline you make the changes please reply to the same email and our team will look into this again for you."

Yes, different to the T&Cs of the banner and promo but I've changed the settings and will report back if the voucher comes through.
