  • Is this a good deal? Getting my kids a switch for xmas and may as well stock up if it's a good deal.

If you only want digital games, then yes. Otherwise buy physical will save way more than 10%

Use dekudeals, far easier to find discounts than the awful nintendo store UIs. Physical games are annoying as hell.

    • Good for DLC, digital-only games, ans can be used to pay for Switch membership, so I'd say yes, pick up a a couple cards if you're close to a Target.

It was going to be for NSO subscription. DLC is a good point too.

Also take advantage of NSO game vouchers when using discounted gift cards. Can sometimes get better deals on first-party games than physical.

Note there's a limit of around $300 account balance in eShop. Don't buy too many gift cards if you're planning to top them up immediately.

Though eShop gift cards don't expire, so if you see better deals (there were 15% off deals in the past) you can stock up the physical cards and top them up later into account.

Just got a switch for the kids too, Digital game seem to be around $79 .. A few physical games on amazon 20% off at the moment $64

Id recommend checking out dekudeals to see the price history of games on eshop and Amazon, because who pays full price for games.

Good point above about the DLC. I go with whatever is cheaper at the time. Also good to have digital so you don’t lose the physical cards. Good to have physical if you like to swap games or bring to other homes.
Lots of pros and cons for this but overall I would say just buy one and hold for the odd digital super sale you see.

  • Good, will use for NSO Family Membership.

Definitely good for the digital game sales, which seem really frequent and in my opinion much better value than the PlayStation and Xbox equivalents.

However, speaking very generally, physical media is the way to go as you actually physically own it. There have been reports in the past about digital media that you have paid for being taken away due to licensing issues e.g. https://www.kotaku.com.au/2023/12/playstation-to-delete-a-to… (didn't mean to specifically target a PlayStation-related article - it's just the most recent that I read).
