I saw a couple of other Dewalt deals on Amazon were posted earlier today so I had a look to see if I could find any others and found this.

I already have a DCF891, but thought I'd share for anybody looking for a mid torque impact wrench, or even just wanting a gun to use for rotating/changing tyres. With 745nm of breakaway torque, it'll do that with ease.

Outrageous value, shame it’s not the 891, that thing is straight up the best mid-torque you can buy.

I hadn't used my 891 in a while, had being using my 887 driver for everything recently. Grabbed the 891 for something trivial just so I didn't have to change so many bits on the 887…. christ I forgot how much torque that thing puts out.

  • Cheers OP 👌👌

  • All gone

    • Wonderful, I was debating in my head if I should buy this just to loosen my lug nuts and decided to wait for 10 mins to see if there were any takers. $150 saved!

What do you guys do with impact wrenches (for home/DIY/garage mechanics) anyway? The only use case I can think of would be making wheel rotation much quicker.

      • That's really about it. For wheel rotation, brake jobs, working on the lawnmower etc. I have wanted one for a while simply for convenience + speeding up the job, but have trouble justifying it given it would only be used a few times a year.

        • Exactly the same thought. Definitely good to have, but really going to be underused.
Rotation is twice a year, brake bleed maybe once every 2 years, and disc/pad replacement would be once every few years. x2 cars probably average to 5-6 times/year max? And you still need to use a torque wrench to put them back.

      • Anything you need to use a wrench on with a bunch of force. lots of car things - hitch connectors, bike racks, anything with nuts and bolts.

        • I've never driven a trailer before, and I am actually pretty surprised that you need a nut wrench to hook up one. Thought it should have a way to be quickly removed and put back.
Bike racks as in the hitch type? My rooftop racks only use small hex nuts that tighten up with Allen keys.
I really can't recall seeing other 10+ sized nuts besides on my wheels around the house.

          • @truetypezk: You don't need it to hook up the trailer but if you change the hitch/tow components or use anti rattle plates, you'd want them tight. Eg: I use a tow ball for a trailer and swap it to a double hitch with extension and tow ball for a bike holder with trailer. The anti rattle plates need to be very tight to do their thing and there are 2 of them in that set up. Using a manual wrench takes ages and doesn't tighten to the same degree.

            • @bargainshooter: I see, thanks for the info. Do you use these to tighten up nuts? I thought usually you need to use a torque wrench to get it up to the specifications.

  • Any good cheap 1/2” socket set for type
    Of wrench

Probably not what you mean by cheap, but Milwaukee has a $200 deep impact set that has every size from 8mm-36mm. If I was to start again, I'd go with that.

I currently have the Repco deep impact set in the red tin which I got for around $130 at the time, regularly on special. I've been happy with that set, but I've had to buy random sizes that weren't included.

Plenty of cheap impact socket sets on Amazon that will probably last long enough for home use.

  • Is dewalt 18v battery compatible with those 20v max tools?

anyone obsessed with collecting these tool skins? i DIY stuff around the house, poorly might i add, but the appeal lies in actually having a collection of these sitting pretty on my shelf. So far i've only got the hammer drill, impact driver, the mini impact drill i got for a steal and the airblower. This would've been great to remove the nuts off my wheels and to add another to the tool shelf .

I keep missing these Dewalt deals.
