Ordered this from The Good Guys today, same price +$5 shipping but with an additional $75 cash back from Shopback's 15% promo (since expired).

  • Very tempting.

  • Do these have wireless charging?

    • No. Should last you a week though

      • Should last you 2-3 weeks if not more with daily gps use.

  • It may be a year old but unlikely it’s discontinued. Garmin continue to sell there older watches for years after they release them.

    • More like two years old as of January: https://www.techradar.com/reviews/garmin-epix-gen-2#:~:text=The%20Garmin%20Epix%20(Gen%202)%20was%20released%20on%20January%2018,as%20the%20Garmin%20Fenix%207).

Not discontinued yet, but something to consider.

  • How much of an upgrade is this over the Venu 2 plus?

    • No clue but I’m rocking the original venu and it’s so great I’d hate to see it not used while I wear a new one.

It’s all scratched up so not sure if I could sell second hand for anything

The Quantified Scientist on YouTube regards the epix series as one of the most accurate amongst garmins watches. Garmin's forums indicate that they've slowed down or altogether discontinued software updates for the venu 2 plus. Garmin tend to do that even if they continue to sell old models.

Apparently the epix series has a better and more user friendly UI.

      Hope that helps.

  • Why so few votes? Thought this was a great deal.

Probably the cheapest Epix Gen 2 model currently available locally (Amazon had this at the same price back in early November) if you're on the market for a new fitness watch.

Pretty sure it was this price a while ago no? I was gonna get it but opted for the sapphire version instead

      • Which Sapphire colour would you get? Black or white?

        • +1

Wanted white but was oos so got black and don’t regret it. White would be nice though. Happy to answer questions.

          • @cerealsmok3r: Thanks. I'm still sporting a Quatix 5 Sapphire which is silver. My dilemma is do upgrade and with all stealth black to changen it up from the incumbent. I wear this watch daily eith differnent bands for sport work/casual wear.(first world problems!)

@Dcseah: I went for the white one because I was worried of the dlc coating on the black one getting scratched and looking manky after a while. I've hadthe white one for a year+ now and the bare titanium is very soft and scratches quite easily, but after a few weeks the titanium was smoothed enough that it just feel like a nice worn in patina. I think the black one does match up to coloured bands better because the white case stands out more but I got used to it.

@heeatseggs: Yeah this became one of the reasons why I switched to black when it became apparent that I couldn’t get the white in time.

Wanted to trs it but Lo and behold I forgot lol

            • +1

@Dcseah: Haha yeah it’s tough! I mean if you’re only after aesthetics then that’s a purely subjective question you need to ask yourself. If you’re talking stats and features it obviously got more but depends on if you want to use them or not and how much value you place on them.

I came from using just fitness trackers for a short while so I’m still getting used to it and think it’s heavy after ~2 weeks of usage. The main reason I got it is to start tracking my fitness data and to optimise my training and weight loss journey. I’m working towards a triathlon and want to get there in the shortest amount possible. So realistically it was between this and the Fenix pro and this just happened to be on sale and still has a bit more support to go with it

              • @cerealsmok3r: Just curious when you are doing triathlon training and you feel like not much left in the tank how do you push yourself to continue?

          • @cerealsmok3r: Curious how long the garmin watch be used before needing to replace it

    • Is this better than the fenix 8?

      • Fenix 8 isnt out yet unless you meant the Fenix 7 in which case they are pretty much the same thing with the difference being the screen type and the battery life.

        • Oh typo sorry meant fenix 7, I see thanks

      • +1

        There is no Fenix 8.
It is the same gen as Fenix 7 but worse than Fenix 7 Pro

        • I see thanks

Curious what the difference between the 7 and 7 pro fenix

I am using this, bought it almost 2 months ago from JB for $696.

        • Me 3. So happy with my purchase. Love the touch screen.
