    Thanks OP. Got the WF-1000XM5.

Seems to be all time low for both?

      • +21

You do need a deal for a pair of glasses.

        • I got them for 350$, 330 could be with a birthday voucher or something lol

          • @sqheaven: You need a deal for a pair of glasses too.

      • That was such a crazy deal (or was it a price error, I forget), its never been anywhere near that price since

        • Sorry, I found my invoice, it was $350, I got TRS on it and just had this idea I paid around $320-$330 for it, but yeah, hasn't gotten anywhere near even though it's getting older.

  • WH-1000XM4 seems to be at an all time low as well

  • Isn’t it meant to be free delivery with eBay plus? Still says $8

    • Delivery was $5 for me. I also have eBay plus.

    • They have no express post option on their listings, so eBay won't add eBay plus benefits to it without that.

      • +3

        That’s some wild reasoning. Cheers

        • That was a reply from one of the mods when I reported the title for fixing on someone else’s post

        • They created eBay Plus to compete with Amazon Prime - mandating a quick delivery option seems perfectly sensible?

  • +4

Also got the WF-1000XM5 after watching for a few months, thanks for finding!

    • Same here!

I almost bought it a few days ago at $318. Glad I waited!

      • Wish I had waited :( couldn’t believe it when I saw this post! Oh well

    • Ended up only paying $267 with 4% eBay gift card from SmartSpending (work/corporate discount)

  • Tried to price match through JB HiFi online chat but they denied it, might try my local.

    • They wouldn’t price match it since it requires a coupon. But you can get them to match the base price

      • nah even without the coupon they were saying they don’t price match eBay.

        • +4

It’s the same price on The Good Guys website

  • Do yourselves a favour and grab the WH1000XM4 over the XM5. The 4's sound cancelling destroys the 5.

    • +2

So backwards is better how does that work

      • +2

Compared to the 4 yes, backwards is better. Sound cancellation is better with the 4. It also folds up. The ear pads are more comfortable. The only thing 5 is better at is sound. But if you're buying this you're getting it for the sound cancelling, otherwise you'd go for a proper headphone set.

        • Is the earpiece section on the 4 the same size as on the 5?

Reason I ask is wear glasses and have tried the 5's and found they don't sit on the ear and push onto the glasses arm so more comfortable, but sound like the 4 is a better choice.

          Cheers.

          • +2

@Kizz: I cant speak for how glasses feel but I'd say the biggest difference between the two is the 4s are a little wide So you might still get the same issue. I'll be honest, the 5s are not that comfortable to begin with. the 3s obliterate them. I could go for hours wearing the 3 and still not notice. With the 5s I have to constantly adjust. One time I took them off and my right earlobe at the very bottom had a little bump. I was surprised to find out the bottom of the earpiece was in a position where it was pressing on that. I'm describing it badly but it was annoying. I hope the 6s feel better because aside from the sound I am very disappointed with the 5s.

            • +1

@vlahka: Many thanks for you're reply vlahka. I think if the 4's are wide, it may move them them away from the top of the ear so I think i'll give them a go, seems the padding on the 4's is a little softer too which will help.

            • +1

@vlahka: thanks for the warning, I'm still happy with my XM3s (except for the mic quality) and wondering whether to upgrade

              • @fredblogs: The 6 should be out in around 8 or so months. If you're happy with the 3s then I say wait. If you have plenty of money to waste, thats a different story!

    • +4

The XM5s also don't fold up like the XM4s. Not the best for travelling. I like being able to fold up my XM2s and put them in my bag.

    • +3

This is just straight up incorrect, go look at some reviews

      • +4

I own the 3 4 and 5. I think I know how they work. The noise cancelling for the 5 is dependent on the noise around you. In the reviews you see them in loud environments. The headphones recognize this and work accordingly. But if its noises that get loud now and then around you, it doesnt work. With the XM3 I cant even hear someone talking next to me. With the 5, I can hear someone in the kitchen. Do a search about XM5 sound cancelling not working and you'll see this. Plenty people outright complaining.

        • +1

thanks for this i had no clue. guess im waiting for xm6. hoping it folds :/

        • Is this not an adaptive mode that you can turn off in the app?

          • @theguwithnoname: Sadly no. You'd think there would be an option but sony thought they were being smart.

    • +1

Curious comment, have you tried both, my xm5 needed to connect to app first to be great but I can stand next to a washing machine on last cycle and barely hear or vacuum my house and not know if it's on, not sure how it could get better

      • +1

Yes tried all 3 versions. The sound cancelling is adaptive for the 5. So if a sound pops up you hear it. A constant sound is filtered out fine. But with the 3 and 4 those loud random noises are also filtered.

        • Are the 3's better than the 4?

          • @johnnytran: I'd say the 4s are better. Not leaps and bounds but definitely you can hear a difference. And from memory they fixed a defect that the 3s had in the headband where it would crack. I've used mine heaps and not had an issue, but I dont treat my stuff roughly either.

  • +1

I got a voucher code "SNSMD663BJKW3G7M" for $20 off, so I got it for $273
    Not sure if its targeted

    • +1

Unique numbers like that are targeted deals

    • +1

I got this too $274 gor being ebay plus member

  • +1

    So tempted by the XM5…..

  • +3

Thanks OP - went with the WF1000XM5, hopefully it's a good upgrade from my XM3s.

    • let us know how they compare :)

      • +2

They arrived today. First impressions are that they have a much better fit, are lighter and better sounding than the XM3s.

I think they're are a little quieter at peak volumes than the XM3s, but that's ok unless you're permanently blasting them.

The sound is probably the biggest departure, the XM5s are a bit more refined with a wider soundstage and more separation between the channels so you hear a bit more (or they are EQd to have that effect).

So not a major upgrade, but an upgrade and they are a bit more comfortable.

  • +1

Anyone know if these have aux in ports?
thinking of using one with a meta quest, along with other uses.

    • +1

My XM5 has headphone jack if that helps.

    • +1

Yes they will all work fine with your Quest using the included aux cable. Just be mindful if you try to buy a shorter third-party cable that it has thin enough plastic around the connector to fit into the headphone's aux jack.

  • far out I bought it the xm5b during black friday for $340. Do you know if they take returns?

    • If you have eBay+ & are still within the return window, possibly.

      • Nah I got it from good guys directly unfortunately. Not sure what their policy is.

  • +1

I have commbank cashback $30 over $200 spend for thegoodguys but couldn't find wf xm5 on their website:(

  • +4

    Thanks OP,
Your post made me check Amazon. I ended up getting the XM4 from there instead @ $294:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Sony-WH-1000XM4B-Wireless-Cancelin…

Not in stock, but it will send when it becomes available. No rush, is for me - not the xmas tree.

$10 more I know, but their returns policy is second to none in my experience. Was worth the piece of mind.

  • +1

Thanks OP, was eyeing either the WH-1000XM4 or the XM5s for a couple of weeks now, but at these prices got both and will give one away for Christmas!

  • got the Bose 45 deal - are these much better or should i stick with them

    • +7

Could be a personal preference, I have both, and I prefer the XM4.
Unfortunately, my partner has taken my xm4… and I miss my xm4 terribly. So I might buy another one.
I don't love my QC45 due to the sound is not as bassy compared to xm4, and I found the max volume in QC45 is a bit quieter compared to XM4.
Comfort-wise - QC 45 is comfier than the XM4, however, the Bluetooth connectivity on the QC45 is annoying when it's connected to multiple devices. It can even tell you it's connected to a device that is currently switched off but was connected previously. The device switching seems a lot more seamless in Sony as I never experienced the frustration I experienced when it comes to XM4.

However, if your current QC45 doesn't bother you, then I guess stick with it :D

      • thank you. i havent picked up the 45s and was thinking of calling anyway but not sure if this would be a better pick for me either

        • +2

If you haven't picked it up, then I'd take XM4 :D Good luck!

    • This is my take on Bose vs Sony, my advice would definitely to see if you can test them both from a friend or something because they're really different particularly in terms of sound

  • Any ideas for $6 item?

    • Call up Officeworks! Pricebeat at Officeworks - paid $279.30 for XM4 - picking up today. (TGG official site has the same price as eBay price as well)

      • officeworks dropped the price to $294 to match.

        • Ohhh bummer.. guess OW got onto it now! :(

        • I guess just price match with jb hi-fi and get a birthday coupon, leading to $284

  • Excellent prices!

  • +6

Finally nabbed the WH1000XM5s after waiting for a deal - thanks OP. Will be lovely to use on the plane .

And now my watch has ended

    • Up vote for HODL-ing out for a deal and also the GoT reference

  • My old pair of Bose QuietComfort 35 still sound great to me.

Apart from the upgrade to USB-C, does anybody think these would be better than my Bose cans?

    • +1

I don't have QC35, but I have QC45 and XM4, XM4 is better imho. My partner took my XM4, and I miss it every day, bought it back today. :D
One of the things that bothers me the most is the Bluetooth connectivity with multiple devices with QC45. It's frustrating switching devices. :(

      • +2

That's my biggest gripe with the QC45/SE so far. I really wish they'd have an option in the app that would let you not connect to multiple devices automatically. Hopefully will come in a software update.

  • Tempted to get another WH1000XM4 as mine is 2 years old now and have been amazing

  • +1

    motherf….just bought some xm4's for 320

  • It seems to be 420$ now, not 390$ ?

    • have you applied the code?

    • Use code SAVETH

      • "Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again."

we are talking about WH1000XM5 on ebay offered by good guys?

        • That’s correct. It should work and shouldn’t need eBay Plus either

  • +1

    Thanks bought one

  • +1

Does the $6 item have to be from the TGG?

Also, are there any current gift card offers that I can quickly grab and apply to this deal?

  • +1

Got JB hifi to price match TGG. While doing it, TGG pop up showing brice beat price for $289. JB price matched at $289.

Used 15% discounted ultimate card bought at Coles in Sept, reducing the cost down to $245.65

Will claim GST in Jan as I head to Japan, effectively bring the final cost at $219.38

    • +1

Nice! Make sure you spend atleast another $50 at JB or you can't claim refund

      • Ah!!!! Shoot. I forgot.

Does it have to be on the same invoice?

        • Nah mate, jsut same company within 60 days of ur leavin ;)

          • +1

@JJthompson: Cheers. Thanks for the reminder. Will definitely buy more stuff during Boxing Day sale.

  • +2

Has anyone used the xm4/xm5 headphones for the gym? How do they hold up? Or am i better off getting sweat resistant ear buds/ earphones?

    • I have used my XM3 a few times in the gym when i lost my Jabra's 75t in ear and personally do not recommend.

Biggest Issues I find is that if you do anything removely explosive, they move or fall (e.g deadlifts on the way down), when laying down on a bench (i.e.) doing flat db press, and can't really do pull-ups with them properly.

I guess this would apply for most over-ear headphones; some people who either don't care if the headphone falls or take it easy might not be as bothered by it.

    • Xm5s come with a little card that says don't use them in the rain or have them on your ears or your neck if you're sweating

    • Used XM5 at the gym once and never again. Started sweating as soon as I got to the gym floor

  • Just fyi for anyone upgrading from xm3 to xm5; found out after buying the xm5s that they don't have NFC one touch connectivity. It'll only impact android users (and likely why Sony removed it) as iPhone has neutered NFC.

  • +5

Cheers OP! Probably the most unnecessary purchase this year!

  • Cheers OP, new set of cans for mum.

  • will good guy store price match their ebay price with discount code?

  • Looks like XM4's are sold out, but officeworks doing pretty similar price $294 plus you got the 2 hour click and coll if you're impatient.

  • Tempted to upgrade my WF XM3 to XM5 but I only use them a few times a year… anyone notice any significant difference when using them on aeroplanes?
