Not sure if this is an all time low but looks like a decent discount from the recent research I did for this tablet for my brother.

Double storage, double ram for an extra $30. Sounds good to me.

  • Got one as a Christmas present for parents

      ETA is January

      • Xmas *2024

        • It's arrived on Saturday so that eta is wrong

          • @HelpfulMilk: Nice, I thought this was a price error just like the other one and not being fulfilled?

            same company from memory.

Is this good for house monitoring? I.e checking indoor cams every now and then or are there any cheaper

    • any cheaper

how cheap do you want it?

sub $200 tablets are generally pretty meh

    • Yes I use it to check my camera's live feeds. I have about 12 cameras and it can handle it.

Any advice on this or something else for movies on a plane/bus, and light note taking?

    • I mean $280 you can't go wrong with that right? I bought one and the specs seems okay

      i am waiting on another deal on Lenovo 11.5" Tab P11 2nd Gen 2K 6GB/128GB + Pen 2, just recently was $305

      • +2

I think I'll wait for this too as I don't think you can use a pen with the Samsung one.

      • What are you liking about the Lenovo, that makes it better than this Sammy at/when approx/same pricing?

        Is it just the Pen?

Lenovo - older, less RAM (comparing both 128gb versions), MediaTek vs SD, otherwise pretty similar budget-end tablets
(half inch screen diff probably equals out battery capacities?).

Anecdotal perhaps, but Lenovo haven't been great with OS updates in the past & makes me really hesitant to go them again.

    • It gets the job done, I wouldn't do any serious gaming on it. Battery may last about 3-4 hours as the capacity isn't as large.

  • OW Pricebeat?

    • +2

Can't price match anything that needs a coupon code if I'm not mistaken.

    • +2

Just called them and they are unable to beat with coupon. So only 297.99 - 5% = 282.15

    Estimated delivery: 10 – 16 Jan. RIP

Tft screen and no pen support but great Samsung software updates and Dex support.

    • Does this one have dex? I know the a8 don't come with dex, thought its for premium/flagship models.

My a8 also doesn't support hdmi out.

  • How well will this run Roblox?

    • +11

I was told it runs crysis @ 4k 60fpm no worries by Harvey norman staff if i bought a $500 HDMI cable with it.

      So robolox should be fine

      • +3

Thems tablets get viruses ya know. Ya want to protect yaself online mate. Ya need the McAffee 3 year subscription too.

      • That's bullshit. Nothing runs Crysis @ 4k.

      • +1

Please tell me you didn't forget an extended warranty too

  • Mine just shipped so hopefully it will be here before Christmas

    • Did you end up getting yours? Or cancelled due to price error?

  • What’s a good case for this ?

  • Been thinking about getting a new iPad but don't want to fork out the money. My iPad is perfectly fine but its around 10 years old and only updates to iOS 12.5.7. This means that I can't play new games like Motorsport Manager 4 or Football Manager 2024 on it. As mentioned, I was thinking of getting a new iPad but don't really want to support a company that stops supporting its products after a few years. So, I was wondering if this is good enough for what I wanted to do, with the occasional web browsing, and how it compares to base model iPads. I've been looking at the 9th gen base model ipad which is currently around $450.

    • +4

I have a genuine question, your last ipad lasted you around 10 years old but you don't want to support the same company? Or did you word that wrong? I would be surprised if samsung tablets lasted half that length. If you want that sort of lengevity you have to go with an iPad over one of these samsungs. You can get them around the $400 price point.

      • +1

I've hardly used it to be honest. I have maybe put 200-300 hours into it over that period. And now that I want to use it, It isn't supported. This may very well be the case for all tablets, I don't know, but here I am typing to you on a PC that was built in 2015 and still working great. if you're wondering, it isn't an Apple product.

    • I have had a lot of Android tablets over the years (mostly mid range ones) and envied how Apple iPads lasted forever (iPad 2 especially) whereas my Android were sluggish and disappointing rather quickly.

I’ve gone full Apple in the last 12 months and can tell iPads go a loooong time. So much more value. iPad 9th gen for $500 is more value than any Android tablet <$300. It will probably last more than double the time.

      • +1

Cheers mate. I never doubted their build quality, but as someone who won't use it daily or even weekly, or perhaps not even for 6 months at a time, I wanted something cheaper. If I go for anything, it might just have to be an iPad. Cheers!

  • I had this tablet, kids broke the screen. Got quoted $350 for the screen replacement.

Did they price jack? Cant get $274

  • Parties over

Damn it. Just received an email from them saying they’ll be canceling all orders as it was a pricing error.

    • Crap, mine just got cancelled too! They put the reason as buyer request though. What to do with $250+ of eBay gift cards.

      • Yeah, I saw it and got annoyed. I contacted eBay's customer support but they didn’t offer any help. And, now I'm stuck with their gift card on top lol

      • How can they say buyer request, when it wasn’t

        • Not sure what the options are but it's probably better than recording they had a pricing error! And none of us are going to call up and ask them to change the reason code.
