    • Nah 1000/100 for $109 per 30 days? is better

      • Which provider does 1000/100?

    • NBN? With who?

  • Convert these to monthly please

    • +2

Use your calculator or your brain to work it out

      • Who is doing 1000/100? Need something custom like that

  • +1

As usual +1 for Launtel. Amazing speeds, almost no congestion, great communication and the best latency to US from Aus i have seen. Not with them atm because I’m getting 1000/40 for cheaper but would go back

  • +2

Can someone explain the guy with the moustache on the Launtel Site. Maybe it needs a caption competition. "James finds out his OnlyFans page will pay for his mortgage"

    • It's been discussed on their whirlpool forum recently, he had the moustache when they did the photos (maybe Movember, I don't know) and it's like an inside joke leaving it up. Going off memory here so maybe don't quote me.

This is a duplicate and who the hell measures plans in money per day.

    • +1

Per day is good, if you cant budget or use your brain to think more then you shouldnt human.

Who the hell measures plans per month - who started that trend? Why not do it per 2 months? or 6 months or yearly? Look at insurance companies they do yearly. So who started the trend.

    • +1

That's how they charge. You can change plan every day if you like and you just pay the daily charge for whichever plan was the highest cost for the day.

How to get on ozbargain business guide.
    * Have high prices
    * Drop high prices by a few bucks so it appears cheaper but still expensive
    * Make OZB post

    • Also provide a service that is top notch, just ask ACCC - https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/News/ACCC-Measuring-…

        • +1

Too bad the same can't be said about the business side where they make all their money. Understaffed and lack of skilled workers.

    • -2

Also measure in per day instead of monthly like everyone else to make it harder to see these are more expensive than most providers

    • +1

you should try comparing their prices against other RSPs at the same speed levels, you might even find that they were already quite competitive, if not cheaper.

      ABB's 250/100 tier is $209/m.
Launtel's used to be ~$161 a month and is now ~$136 a month.

I am not a customer for now, however I really like this model of speed up/down. If you have a full house of people you can turn it up, and you can turn it off on holidays.

    This be the future.

  • these guys are so expensive, for not really much gain meh

  • These guys are great. I used them for a couple of weeks when I was between ISPs. I would have happily stayed, but they were a bit more expensive than my current ISP and I need to save my pennies atm

  • +3

Honestly one of the best providers I have ever dealt with. Probably more suited towards technical users. They offer extensive telemetrics and statistics on your user dashboard, and you can change speed whenever you like. They know their stuff and are still small enough to be approachable.

They remind me a bit of Aussie Broadband from 10 years ago.

  • I almost update to the new pricing before noticing that even though the daily pricing is cheaper on the 250/100 plan I’m on $4.50 vs 4.56 the 1000/400 plan is a lot more expensive. I can get it for $7.45 a day right now.

    I’m on old grandfather pricing.

  • Good list over here for higher speed NBN services, I think for the higher speed upload plans Launtel is pretty much the best bang for your buck.

    https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/nbn_highspeed_plans

  • Do they offer offer lower speed tiers like 25/10 or 50/20?

    • Not anymore. Launtel starts at 100/20.

    • You could go on their "Standby" plan which works out to be about $15/month and get 1mbps lol

  • Easily the Best ISP, sure they are more expensive, but even if you dont need the support, the peace of mind in not being locked into anything or hasstle is worth it. Going on a holiday? I can reduce to a low plan with a few clicks, no chatting to anyone, no pro-rata..etc…

The plan flexibility and ability to actually lease a static IP with flexibility is unmatched. Out of Exetel, Superloop, AussieBB, Leaptel and Launtel. Launtel is #1 and the rest arent close.

After doing the ISP shuffle for months I ended up staying with Launtel! Yes they are not the cheapest but the low latency and snappiness of the network is fantastic and the consistent speeds are also a bonus. ABB was useless in Tasmania and their support in my experience left a lot to be desired even though they acknowledged the routing issue I was experiencing.

  • Can I turn it off during the week and have it only turn on Saturday and Sunday for example?

    • You can do that.

  • Just wondering if anyone has switched from Aussie Broadband to Launtel and noticed any change in the level of service/speed?

  • Does Launtel invoice daily and expect payment daily?

    • They're like a prepaid phone. You pay credit in advance and then slowly it reduces depending on your daily rate (at least that's how it worked when I was briefly with them). Not sure if there's a way to automate that or not (eg just get charged a month by month basis).

      • You can setup auto recharge. It still works on the daily system and just recharges when it gets below a certain amount.

  • I have mobile broadband connection for daily use at home. If I were to use this service what sort of devices do I need (modem, router ?), does Launtel provide those devices with the service? Please enlighten me here.

    • What you need depends on the type of nbn. Check here. Do you have FTTN, FTTB, FTTC, FTTP, HFC, FW?

      • HFC

        • nbn provide and install the HFC NTD which is a cable modem. nbn's HFC NTD gets plugged into your own router. I don't think Launtel sell a router. HFC max speed tier is 1000/50.

          • @Twix: Thank You @Twix, I signed up the new connection with Launtel, so will they be sending me that HFC NTD modem or should I be arranging that one myself from eBay?
I will directly connect the ethernet cable to my Laptop as I have Telstra mobile broadband device for wifi service at home and won't be needing the router.

            • +1

@homerjaysimpson: I don't know if nbn are doing HFC NTD self installs. When I was on HFC the nbn guy installed the HFC NTD and tested the signal. Don't purchase the HFC NTD from eBay as it won't be assigned to your address and won't connect to the nbn.

The HFC NTD to your laptop is meant to be used temporarily for testing purposes. I would pickup a $20 Telstra smart modem/router.

              • +1

@Twix: Thank You, I will look into the HFC install procedure in nbn website. And I will pick up one of those Telstra router. Thanks for enlightenment.
