    Great price.

(profanity) samsung watches price are down down like no tomorrow

    • +4

That's cause Samsung gave lots of them away for free as a bundle with their phone.

      • Yep, a great way to make your product worthless.

        • +1

Not really, probably cost of making them is way less and giving customers experience for much less after they launch a new model.

        • Isn't that better for the consumer? Free watches lol

    • About time Google did the same with theirs

  • are these any good pairing with non samsung phones through third party apps?

    • should be able to. install samsung health.

    • +1

does it have samsung pay if paired with non samusng phone

      • +1

        Has google pay.

        • but samsung pay is locked to the button, you lose the use of the button press

          • @furyou: Huh? The buttons are customisable.

            • @puffinfresh: Can't change the long press of the bottom button opening samsung pay unfortunately - the other buttons you can.

        • Unfortunately, Coles MC is only compatible with Apple Pay and Samsung Pay

    • +1

I noticed that if I use work profile on my phone, notifications for work apps (Outlook, Teams) would only work on a Samsung phone. tried on pixel, no notifications and couldn't make it work. notifications for Work profile app only show up on the phone, not on the watch

on Samsung phones I get notifications from apps regardless of profile.

Seems like you're limited if you're not using a Samsung phone.

      • Not really used it with Motorola flip. Samsung health is fine, from memory ECG and Blood pressure no, biggest problem was samsung app store that comes on samsung phone . Most other features were there….Still worth it…..

    • Looks like the sleep function won't work without a galaxy phone, see clause 3 on Amazon page:

      Counts your sheep for you
Know your sleep with our new and improved sleep tracking technology. Plan your bedtime, detect snoring, understand and track your sleep stages (awake, light, deep, REM) via 8 animal sleep symbols representing your sleep type. Better nights lead to better days. ¹ ² ³ ⁴ ⁵

      • Sleep as android is a good alternative for that function

      • But do Androids dream of Electric Sheep? My Samsung watch tracks my sleep paired with my Pixel, but it's an older model.

    • +2

I'm using the GW6 with my Pixel and it's fine. I installed the hacked health app and removed some Samsung bloat. The only minor thing is some watch faces won't let me use Google Fit to display steps and instead only load data from Samsung. Ironically, the Samsung faces tend to work and it's third party ones that have the issue.

  • Can you get a standalone prepaid eSIM for this ? Or are you tied to Truphone or an add on for postpaid as with Apple Watch ?

    • +1

You can do it, I've done it but it requires a small level of complexity.

There is a way to add an esim via QR code if you go into developer mode (or something like that).

      • Ok thanks. Do you need an Android phone at all to set it up or for ongoing use ?

iOS only household here, but that’s bloody cheap - could be good for one of the kids

      • do you have a guide for this? I have a watch5 pro LTE and I couldn't figure out which SIM to get for it and how. I am not eligible for number sharing as it doesn't work on voda prepay, so it has to be a separate eSIM

        • +9
          • @AwesomeAndrew: thanks for this - v helpful. I bought the watch, already have Telstra mobile (for work, eSIM), and thought this might be a cool thing to add in to the mix. Do you find the LTE aspect really that useful or handy? I will have to do some research now to figure out how to make the most of the features :)

            • +1

@swampson: It's useful when you still want to use internet or view messages etc. when going to exercise without bringing your phone.

              • @AwesomeAndrew: at the moment, i have an old Garmin watch that connects via BT to my S21 .. when the phone's token app asks for the 'accept' button to be pressed, I can do that from my watch which is cool. But obv the phone <> watch need to be in BT range.
Any idea, with the LTE watch would this still somehow work ('accept' from watch), if the phone is completely somewhere else?

          • @AwesomeAndrew: Wow, thank you so much for this! Bought Watch 5 pro a year ago, decided to get LTE version which was $50 more than bluetooth. Could not justify switching to $50/month plan from Telstra and pay $5 extra to share the number, was hoping that I would be able to use LTE on my watch someday. Today is the day. Decided to try Lebara eSIM, worked perfectly.

        • +1

I used AA2's guide selecting Vodafone PAYG for the new SIM (not number sharing with existing).

Found it easier to go in store to get them to convert physical SIM to eSIM as I didn't want to install the eSIM in any existing device.

In store didn't understand it was possible, but converted to eSIM for me.

  • Can it be tracked using apple? I want to use it on my son to track him but don't want to fork out apple watch prices

    • +2

Yes, I believe you can using the Smartthings app.

edit: I tried it for you, and the "find" feature does not show up in the app on iPhone. Sorry. There may be some way, but I do not see it.

      • Thank you for checking. Appreciate it.

    • Hello Desi friend, I have an Apple Watch SE LTE setup for the very same thing. Set it up as a Kids watch. Get a TruPhone $10/month plan and you are good to go. Can track via Find My App. Call, message etc.

  • +3

Just want to mention this: JB Hi Fi trade-in value: $140
$199 is a good price actually

  • Can this be used for tap and pay?

    • Yeah

    • You can but it doesn't work very well like apple watch do. I thought I got a faulty ones and I got a replacement, but it turns out its still the same. The eftpos terminal keep failing reading the card through Galaxy watch, not sure if it gets better on watch 6.

  • Would this make a good Xmas present for my wife? She has match stick arms. Would this look too big on her?

    • +2

I bought it for my 8 year old son 😂

      • A 40mm watch much better suited to kids imho

        • +2

But this one's cheaper. I just went into buy first think later mode.

  • Nice. Great alternative to the subpar Pixel Watch.

    • Been eyeing a Pixel Watch 2 on the marketplace for a while as I'm using a Pixel phone. This GW5 to swap for PW2 might be a good idea?

      • +1

Might take a bit of tinkering around to get some of the health functions to work on the GW5. I found the PW and PW2 to be too overpriced so happy to jump through some hoops to make it work with my Pixel 8 Pro.

    • Do you have a pixel watch?

      • No. It's been on my watchlist but never seen it dropped down to sub $200 before. Also lots of reviews stated that it fell short in many categories.

This, however, is worth being a deal.

        • it was $180. using it right now. $200 for an lte watch is probably a better deal overall if you can get an esim or you pay big bucks for number sharing

  • Shopback has 3.5% cashback

    • +2

That's for regular watches, not smartwatches.

  • +1

If your wrist is over 18 cm in circumference then 44mm would look ok, else go for the 40mm one, it suits everyone

    • the bigger the better (c)

      • lol, it will look ugly, plus will struggle to fit under the jacket sleeve.

        • If you are rocking a clock wrist.. you don't conceal it under your jacket sleeve..

You present it proudly like a boss.

        • +1

maybe? but battery life on those 40mm ones sucks. also harder to read notifications. if fit is priority, then these are the trade-offs.

but checking my wrist, it's just under 18cm, and I had 44mm galaxy watches for 1.5 years now, wouldn't want to try 40mm

    • My (37yo male) wrists are only 17cm. I'm glad I went with the 40mm.

  • Sapphire is sold out?

    • dang. yes.

    • yep

    • Sapphire is sold out?

I think only Silver 44mm LTE at this price.

  • So if you are using Boost prepaid? Can this share the same SIM? Or do you need to buy a standalone SIM for this?

  • Wow. Cheap

  • +1

    Buy first think second.

Can I replace the white band?

    • +1

Yes you can - they have a very generic size that I can't remember so you can buy all sorts for it!

      • +1

        Sweet.

    • +1

      Band can easily be replaced

  • I just sold a Galaxy Watch 5 40mm (no LTE) yesterday for $250 second hand 😅

  • OOS?

  • +1

    too slow :/
    looks like both colours gone

  • +1

Battery life on Watch 5 is dismal.

    • +1

Yep, pair that with LTE and it's even worse.

      • Yep I hope the guy up there who asking tons of questions about LTE esim read your comment.

      • It works fine with LTE as a backup for wifi and bluetooth.
But if you want to go out all day without a phone, and use the watch for maps, calls, messages a lot, yes that can be a problem.
It is not a complete phone replacement.

  • Was never going to last at these prices.

  • +1

Wow great price IMO!! So tempted but already has gw4 44mm and no issue and look like new since purchased 1yr+ ago. FYI I have wrist 16cm and I returned the 40mm and got the 44mm no regret. To me its day and night difference; bigger easier to look at and the battery last longer

  • oos

  • Looks like a better deal than the previous Samsung Galaxy 6 secret sale? except this one is silver only

  • OOS OMG

  • Great price to replace wife's dead Garmin. Glad we waited.

  • +1

I was here when the silver 44mm was available, took my sweet time. Its gone. Fair play, another day then.

    • Took about 50 minutes. Not bad lol

  • +1

Dammit. I was doing too much research :( Ah well.

    • +7

See the trick is buy first and then do extensive research and watch bias online reviews to yet justify another potential unnecessary purchase. That is the Ozbargain way.

      • +1

Totally. And then when it arrives, if you no longer want it, return it :P … I should've shot first, asked questions later … typical!

        • +3

With Amazon you always get some time to cancel the order anyway.

          • @MiscOzB: Only get charged when the item is shipped

        • +1

I found Amazon return to be very painless so yeah, buy now think later.

          • @Grey 13: i have only returned couple things over the yrs - but i wonder if they reach a point where they would resist if someone tried to return "too much" stuff, or used reasons that have not turned out to be entirely true ….

        • +1

I bought one. It says delivery 2nd January. That means it prob wont be despatched till after Christmas I'd think. If I have second thoughts over the next few days … I'll cancel.

I new if I hesitated, I will miss out.

          • @Noddy Doldrums: Mine said it'd shipped by Sat.

            • @Grey 13: Perhaps its because I don't have Prime. There was an option to get it earlier but It was going to cost $7.99 I think.
