  • Put refurb if this is refurb

    • thanks , missed that

  • Thanks, got one for a family member whose laptop is so old it doesn't have Bluetooth. Just an FYI the ad for the g5 says Win10 but website says Win11.

    • +2

yep comes with Win11 Pro , Ad has been updated now

      • the dock on your ebay store is heaps cheaper than your site?

        I need a second dock

  • Any express shipping?

  • Can anyone tell me if this is a decent laptop for a year 7 student? We don't need touchscreen or anything. Just want something reliable with decent battery.

This will be a just-good-enough laptop for general office or study work, but the price is a bit much - this should be at the $250 mark given it's already five or six years old.

If you can trust your kid to look after a touch screen, I'd be inclined to get the Toshiba instead.

      • His primary school Chromebook somehow got run-over by a bike so yeah, I'm thinking refurbished is the way to go lol.

It is a bit old though, this one.

    • Very decent. Maybe not the best price ever, but good specs, and the battery should last a day.
14" may be a little heavy? Toshiba looks good.

      • Weight without charger is about 1.5kg - that is on the heavy side
In my experience these Pro Books can take a few knocks too and just new enough to connect to school networks etc
If battery lasts 6 hours or more as claimed this would be OK

        • I'd get the Toshiba then - 1.1kg.

  • For the Toshiba, does mint condition means looks new?

    • Ordered based on this so I hope so :)

  • Toshiba one has to be the bargain here???

Not so cheap I think for 8gb ram…

Aren’t these going for $319 on Reebelo

  • typing here on my HP gen 8 intel i7 elitebook - an old work laptop I got in 2018 and which is still clanking on doing 8+ hours a day 6 days a week; super reliable over that time with no warranty calls and battery still good for around 3-4 hours. YMMV but I've been impressed with it.

I way prefer it to the piece of junk new Dell latitude that work got for me early this year. Top of the line but it failed twice in the first two weeks with warranty call-outs required, and its now sitting gathering dust because I travel a lot and can't trust it to actually keep working while out on the road. What a complete dud that machine proved to be; worse battery life new out of the box than a 5 year old HP, heavy and completely underwhelming performance for a $3k machine.

Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station (With Power Adapter)

Does this mean that the Toshiba can only charge with the presence of the dock or can it be charged independently?

    • From what I read/saw on YouTube, it does USB-C charging so yea it can be charged with another USB-C charger as well.

  • I keep eying off these refurb laptops to give to my 8 year old to do a bit of coding and start learning how to use a PC. So hard to know which one to go for. What does the OZB hive mind think?

  • OP, any further discount on the Toshiba without the dock?

  • Anything with 16GB ram? Looking for 5-6

    • The HP units you can upgrade yourself.

      • I'd consider it if I needed 1 but can't be bothered for 5+ ✌️

        • PM the OP who is a rep

  • Thanks for the Toshiba - it arrived well packaged and in great condition. I'm really picky but had low expectations considering the age. It is in remarkably good condition. Humungous bezels and the trackpad feels very cheap compared to modern devices but it's a great tavel/portable device. Nice and light/sleek. Very happy with it. Merry Christmas :)

    • Also got mine delivered just before Xmas and impressed with overall condition, however battery is definitely not new and not lasting very long on just light use.

As I also wanted this as a cheap, beater for travel, but not so happy with battery that doesn't last v. long.

How long you are getting out of the battery on yours?

Have emailed them to ask for replacement (battery or laptop) and no response yet after a few days :-(.

  • I was trying to ask for a tax invoice, sent email 3 times since Xmas and have received no response at all. :(
