Stack via JB Perks (new members only) $39 > Join JB Perks > $10 welcome coupon email arrives instantly > JB Online Chat to price-match > they send weblink > Use coupon at checkout

Can confirm this process works as I picked it up just now at $39 for a new game (that the developers are obviously going to have to improve over time with fixes and new content). Not a bad Xmas present. Alternatively you could get JB to price match in store showing BigW link and then using your JB Perks email coupon. Note that their webchat is only during daytime hours only (see my post below).

Price drop since yesterday, new post to reflect updated store\links

Mixed reviews for this game, but for half price on a 3 month old release before Xmas - I figure it's a pretty good deal :)

JB will price match - chat to them online and have your JB Perks (new members only) $10 voucher ready to use at checkout:

thanks to posters @rukia @gwindsor for BigW \ Amazon price reduction update.

Mixed Reviews will be coming from Horizon and other racing game fans. If you're playing on controller it will likely feel like you're trying to turn a boat on corners. I highly recommend a wheel to get the most out your experience.

Most of the neg reviews I read were related to performance, opponent AI, game design such as progression and layout etc. Dismissing criticism as 'hur dur arcade racing fans can't drive, get a wheel u scrubs' is pretty disingenuous.

Wow, fair effort to get to that conclusion from what was actually written.

  • Do forza games face the same problem as crew games where they turn off the servers and the game you paid money for you can no longer play at all?

    • Some prior versions of Forza have been delisted because of licensing, but they don't need a server connection to play. They still work offline if you have the disc copy or a prior digital purchase. The problem with the physical copies of Forza Horizon 5 and this one, Forza Motorsport, is the game is unplayable without an additional download, and may not be playable in the future. Both games are over 100 GB, and because Xbox doesn't use 100 GB discs, they would've had to ship it on three discs.

i just got horizon 5 and it did a 122gb download granted its been out for 2 years

and then it did another 14gb…

GT7 wasnt nearly this crazy but it sits on about 110gb on ssd?

      • +1

There is online requirements for this game. You can play offline but apparently saving progress is impacted in certain modes

My negative experience with the game was a bug that kept crashing my game after 2-3 races, and then it forgot the race I just did (ie. Just a bug that wasted my time). Tried it on PC and Xbox with same bug then gave up. Ymmv though!

  • What do you all think of Horizon 5 (2021) vs this game?

I feel like I would like Horizon 5 more with open world approach and you can do whatever you want

    • I prefer track based racing games, but everyone is different, I play both.

Both games are free to play with Xbox Game Pass. You could sign up for a month and try them out and see which you prefer. Even better if you qualify for a free trial.

Just beware that Horizon Motorsport was an 8 hour download for me on a 50Mb connection. I'm not sure if that is normal or was due to problems on their end, but it was very annoying when I hooked up my new Xbox and wanted to play it while I had the house and TV to myself for 7 hours :(

dont you guys just slap in the disc, let it download and then switch inputs on your receiver tv to play the ps5 or the pc???

its gonna be 100gb+ on most AAA titles isnt it?

just let Australia's 3rd world NBN do its thing

        • No disk if you use Game Pass, just download and play. Most games will download a playable amount and let you get on with it (though the Xbox will stop downloading while you are playing) but this game needed to download the whole thing which is several 100 Gb before you could even start. So yes, switched inputs and spent the day watching movies instead.

Depends on whether you get most enjoyment from traditional races, or exploring the world, chaining stunts and doing non track race events like drag races or off road racing.

I think for most people Horizon will be the more safe/mainstream bet. Motorsport will appeal to those looking for a more traditional sim like experience, and who have a more interest in the real world tracks included than made up locations.

  • thanks was thinking bout it when it was $69

    • yeah this is sad

I'm pretty sure Horizon and GT7 took like more than a year to get to $49 and FM8 does it in 3 months…

  • OOS on Amazon

    • Bugger was going to grab from Amazon

  • So it says requires internet do these games become obsolete after a while unplayable?
I have all the Forza horizon editions and only just got the horizon 5 recently where I noticed was harder to find physical.
But it for a good price new actually less than second hand copies. I used to play a lot of horizon and not played in ages so need to get back into it.

But are they still playable I expect when I buy these games physical I should be able to play them when I want and years ahead.

I’m just curious with this saying needs internet maybe to do with downloading etc.
So what happens to these games as they get old still playable yes?

    • it should be the same as FM7

its playable but all online features wont work

this is not the same as GT7

    • I posted this further up.

      https://support.forzamotorsport.net/hc/en-us/articles/214254…

In short game progression is tied to online connectivity. You can do races offline but to retain progress you need to be connected.

      • i'm not a fan of the whole progression in this game

like how to get upgrades for your car you have to grind races in each individual car???

this game really isnt worth your attention

problem is the only other choice is GT7 and that has its own can of worms

        • LOL @ "this game really isnt (sic) worth your attention"

          • @mickeyjuiceman: yeah i'm sorry that missing apostrophe upsets you bro

            have an updoot

  • Hi All, I've updated the description outlining how to get this for $39 at JB via price match and then use of JB Perks (new members only) $10 welcome coupon.

  • That’s good if your a new member to jb perks once they use your number you can’t do it again which is annoying as would get it from jb hifi

    • family member might be happy to sign up with their details\card and give you a present :)

      • Family member already one an used long time ago

  • Such a shame it dropped so fast. Maybe they’ll fix the in game progression which seems to be a common complaint.

I’m waiting for Microsoft store to do a similar deal so I can get play anywhere.
