Noob question guys. Can these be used for apple tv and ipad for navigating apps like youtube, netflix, kodi, plex or strictly gaming only?

I would check your TV/streaming stick settings and look for 'bluetooth controller' or something equivalent just to see if it works, but most devices should support it. For example, from memory, my LG TV explicitly has an option to allow you to pair a controller to use as a remote

It works as a remote for AppleTV. Haven't tried it with iPad.

  • Thanks ordered. Mine stopped updating

  • Metallic ones are also the same price :)

  • thanks OP, the controller that came with my ps5 has started to experience stick drift :(

    • how old is it? more than a year i take it, i just sent mine back a couple of weeks ago and they sent me a brand new one, mine was only 11 months old though

      • got it in october last year, so just over the 1 year mark unfortunately :(

        • damn, you should try ringing playstation, maybe they will help you out, worth a shot i guess, tell them it should last longer than 14 months

          • @Qazxswec: Yes, I would assume so. If it comes with the console (and the console needs one to use!), then they shouldn't be able to use "it's only $100 so we'll only give 1yr warranty" excuse.

            • @pizzip: What is the expected lifetime of a games controller as a product? If it is failing from regular use before what would be considered the lifetime of the controller (3 years? 7 years? Not sure exactly), then under your Australian Consumer Law protections, you could argue that it warrants a repair, replacement or refund. I have argued that same fact with retailers like JB HiFi over other electronics that have been outside of manufacturer warranty and they have complied with the law when pushed.

Sony, Xbox and Nintendo design these controllers to fail on purpose. It might work for them in markets with worse consumer protections, but this is Australia and we have laws to protect us from that stuff.

Bought mine through eb games, controller was 19 months when it started experiencing stick drift. They were very kind to exchange it after I emailed their customer support.

      • I'll give this a go, thanks for letting me know. Fingers crossed they honour it

  • My controller is 10-11 months old starting the dreaded stick drift. I bought it in Japan, however if I buy an Australian controller, would Sony know or care if I sent in my JP controller for warranty repair!

    • +1

each controller has a serial number and QR code so they would definitely know, whether or not they would care, i am not to sure

  • Anyone have a more durable alternative?

I broke mine after about 2 hours of fighting games and now the dpad constantly inputs down. lol

    • Agree, there has to be better controllers that dont have dpad or drifting issues. These controllers are faulty imo.

  • Any stores that would price match? Not sure if JB match online only such as amazon…

    • im pretty sure they price match amazon

    • +1

I price matched them to jb this morning
Used $10 perk voucher on top

    • JB should be able to price match, the EB Games in my area won't price match online stores.

  • Do these work on PC like the Xbox one's?

    • Yes, I used it the other day for SONY Remote Play. But it needs to be plugged in with the USB cable. Didn't try it wirelessly via Bluetooth yet.

    • Mine works fine wirelessly on PC. Even has adaptive rumble sometimes. Well, it feels like adaptive rumble to me - it goes brr when you shoot a small gun and brrrrr when you shoot a big gun.

  • Not as good as Black Friday but only a few dollars more. I'm more annoyed that Amazon cancelled/returned my Black Friday order for Volcanic Red as it was 'undeliverable' to an Amazon pick up location…. and then price went up to $115.

Luckily the CS gave me a promotional credit for the difference; which as I went to buy today, discovered it was down to $79… so net price $39. Win!
