      Qatar Airways Bans YouTuber

Wouldn't that be a reason to not ban them?

I would prefer not having youtubers on my flights.

      • +1

No zootubers allowed 5 metres around meee

      and also fired the crew

I think that's the particularly impressive part. Not only did they ban the guy that took the video, they fired the entire crew haha. Noice.

Pretty happy not to support a company with its morals in the toilet.

And posted that so he can recoup x100 from the youtube revenue…

Because 'your' truth is clearly untrue…

              • @jv: If the free flight bribe was valued at 10k do you think his video will make him $1M in revenue? Not sure about that one…

                • @adam7070: Depends how popular he is on youtube.

@Repstar is obviously and avid follower contributing to the revenue.

If the free flight bribe was valued at 10k

                  Probably closer to 2k

            • @Repstar: Because he’s not like Sam Chui 🤣

Free? He's not allowed to fly on an airline he clearly doesn't like…it's not like he's a political prisoner.

      • they fired the entire crew haha.

pretty sure most companies would do that to employees bad mouthing them in public…

        • Pretty sure it wasnt the employees from the flight bad mouthing the company on YouTube

          • @Repstar: That is what the link that you posted says…

Why did you post a link with fake news then?

              • @Repstar:

I suggest you read it again

I did, it clearly says what you deny it says.

        • +1

Yes, that does happen to specific employees, but not to entire crews. You are basically guilty by association.

Admittedly it’s not confirmed, though the searching of the women was indiscriminate too.

I don’t think Josh Cahill is a saint for not taking the bribe, but Qatar airways has just had so many problems with publicity in the past, it just doesn’t shock me they would do this.

@ozbking: What did Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani have to say about it?

Damn that has stopped me from wanting to fly using Qatar, seems like Singapore and JAL are my only choices if I ever want to go overseas lmao.

      • Have you considered, a cruise ship ?

      • lol not that deep bruh

    • I hope those articles help reduce seat competition in Economy. I might for once find an empty row of seats to sleep.

For the record, I have flown with QR before Covid and literally 5 days ago. Great experience and love the multi culture crew. Not something we see much with our own airlines.

Just today I was looking at booking some QR flights to EU in Jan for work. Code works great, will most likely book this week, thanks OP!

Despite whatever controversy surrounds Qatar, they easily have the best business class product currently, imo. Singapore being a very close second.

@adam7070 i haven't flown on Qatar yet, does it matter what aircraft or is it all standardized?

On the current xmas trip with SIA the A350 was nice, but I preferred the bigger A380 (with the lounge area), i have read many good reviews on Qatar but am not sure if it depends on plane type?

      • +1

I flew both QR and SIA business within the last month so my memory is still fresh haha

Regarding Qatar, I'd say it absolutely does matter. Their flagship product is the q-suite. In my journey with Qatar, I was able to try their 777, and A350, unfortunately not the A380. Not all A350s have the q-suites, the one i flew didn't - and shares the same business class as an A380. It's not as private as the Q-suite but still very nice. The Q-suite is just something else, but en route to Australia you can only fly Q-suite to melbourne/brisbane/adelaide. But benefit of the sydney a380 business cabin is the upper deck bar. Seems awesome! And I should mention, their flagship lounge in Doha is simply unreal!

And I agree with that, flew to India from sydney on SIA in business recently and I enjoyed the a380 leg much much more than the a350 one, it's just so much more roomier. And unbelievably quiet. I'm not sure if all SIA A350s have the same cabin but the one from SIN-AMD was no way near as spacious as the A380, but that's a 5 hour flight so no complaints.

777 is frankly loud as f**k (but i still love it) so if you do go the A380 route at least you won't need to use earplugs 🤣

        • @adam7070 i looked at dates last night and there were "mixed cabin" legs, as some were in "First Class" but it was for a connecting leg from Doha to Cairo etc, so is there a big difference for connecting flights (on A350 i think) in "First" or is that just their branding/naming and its like the VA versions of 'business class' where there isn't a flat bed for BNE to AKL flights etc ….

I was in Qatar last month, flew back to Perth in first class. Was a decent flight.

Their country, their rules, that's how I see it with Qatar. I like Josh Cahill, but it is what it is when it comes to airlines affiliated with the country they're operating in.

  • Hi! Does anyone know if when you use the discount code you still get the ability to make one change to flights? This benefit seems to disappear on your chosen flight when you use the code.
    Thanks!

  • Does Qatar process bookings in Australia? if I pay with a credit card that usually has a foreign conversion surcharge, am I likely to get stung?
