DJI Mini 2 SE Fly More Combo $495 + Shipping ($0 QLD C&C) @ Videopro

720

LONGGGGG time lurker…. First time poster. Normal price at JB and others still around the high $600's. Was looking only a few days ago and the price was $597 at Videopro. Come down $100 in last few days. Could probably price match locally with big chains like I did.

Good deal especially with the fly more combo but I recommend getting at a minimum a DJI Mini 3 Pro if budget isn't the determining factor due to Mini 3 Pro having

    • 4K footage
    • longer flight time
    • bigger sensors

Make sure you get the RC, it's a massive quality of life improvement with a screen.

I agree with these sentiments. I have a Mini3 Pro and the RC controller. Briefly considered saving a few hundred bucks and getting it just with the standard controller and attaching an iPad, but so glad I didn't. Ease of use and time to deploy is very underrated. And for an extra $20 or so you can get a clip on controller cover that pops up to stop glare, and closes down to cover the controller completely. It's a no-brainer. OP, Mini3 Pro definitely worth the extra money.

Right on. Forgot to add the 2 SE doesn't have Active Tracking mode. Having the 3 Mini Pro following you while recording is a neat feature to have that I have used quite a fair bit, especially with solo hikes.

        • +3

You can download the 3rd party app Litchi to have it's Follow Me mode in its place. The app costs $40. I've been using it on my SE and it's pretty good.

    • Theres a few very good reasons (iykyk) to get a mini 2 SE or Mini 2, depending on how you want to fly it.
Is the pro 3 better, it certainly is, but I wont part with my Mini 2 until it dies.

      • Have been flying the mini 2 (fly more combo) for a few years now. Some things I really wish I had:

        • RC with screen. While everyone else in my group is out exploring a destination already I am still in the car fiddling with phone, wires, opening the app, etc.
        • Vertical shooting (camera rotate to portrait) - so we don't have to crop every time we upload to today's social media
        • Better low light performance. Footage is pretty much unusable (too grainy) before sunrise or after sunset. May look ok on the little screen but super obvious when published

Other than that its the best travel drone I've owned and can't rate it enough

        • i mean i wish i had some of those features as well but its not worth a new drone and losing the great features i already have that arn't available on the 3 or above, but each to there own.

      • I dont know but I want to know

        • +1

          DM'd

        • I don't know but all this secrecy makes me want to know.

          • @EBC: h4x0rz

            • @ChatCPT: So people are hacking them to remove no fly zones from the drone? That seems like a terrible idea… Are there other, better, reasons to hack a drone?

              • @EBC: cannot confirm
also height limits getting more amazing shots?

    • I've read numerous posts and agree with your thoughts
However I'm learning to fly one so losing or crashing a "cheapie" is a better option in my case. Was also looking 2nd hand and the wanted prices on Sparks and 1st gen Minis are crazy.

      • +1

It's really not that hard to crash these things with obstacle avoidance with all the senors (except sideways or up - Mini 4 has improved on this).

You can get the DJI Refresh 1 or 2 year plan, it's not that expensive for peace of mind and helps you become a better pilot knowing you are covered and can take risks.

That's what I did, and even then being a complete noob I have yet to crash it. Even covers if you lose it.

I have the SE and if you are in an area flooded with wifi, the connection to it becomes rubbish.

The Mini 3 Pro uses a different connection and isn't impacted by wifi.

I do want to upgrade, however the entry point for the SE was too good at the time and being my first drone, has been great for me to learn.

      • +1

Theres a massive difference between the original SE and the mini2 se. The mini2 se doesnt use wifi, you can get upto 10km range with the 2 SE

        • That is really good to know, but looking into it the SE 2 uses Occusync 2.0, whereas the Mini 3 Pro uses Occusync 3.0. I've found Occusync 2.0 to still be affected pretty bad in areas with heavy wifi as it uses the 2.4ghz spectrum still when I have used my friend's Mini 2.

    • I bought a Mini 3 Pro a while back and unfortunately there is definitely a massive design/manufacture issue with the lens/sensor on the camera. Mine had extreme softness/defocus in one corner of the image. When I RMAed it I got a new one which… also had this issue, in another corner. I went through four (!) different drones, all of which exhibited this issue in one corner or another despite DJI claiming that they had been 'tested' before sending them out to me.

I wasn't after perfection but my goal was photography and the photos were for my purposes unusable. Much worse than, say, photos from my phone which cost less than this drone.

In the end I returned it for a full refund from JB.

If you google this issue lots of people are reporting it. My opinion is that they have an issue where the sensor isn't exactly parallel to the lens and always ends up seated slightly off-kilter so that one edge/corner or another is not quite in focus.

Shame because the drone itself is awesome.

Much better drone… but shouldn't have been $1500! And don't forget the above is $495 plus shipping.

I walked in to JB HiFi and said "looking to buy Mini3 Pro with RC controller, but don't want to stuff around going back and forwards with pricing. Give me your best price and I'll buy it". $1100. *EDITED: nope, just re-rechecked was $1000! If they can get a quick sale out of you at the end of the day without stuffing around 'selling you', they will and appreciate it.

    • You can usually get it for about 750 ish

  • Wow. Good deal. I paid $800 back in May.

  • Been watching allot of DJ audits and all the other drone audit youtubers recently.

  • +2

Managed to get it price matched for $495 C&C at JB in VIC (they didn't add the shipping cost)

    • that's a good effort well done… they normally don't do that!

    • They turned me down said since it's on backorder on Videopro… I'm also in VIC

    • Hey bro have you got the tax invoice for that? Mind sharing it with me?

      • Can do but I think you need to turn on DMs or something?

  • do you guys know how to buy the battery for cheap? I forgot to take out the battery and put it in my checked luggage, they threw away all of my battery so i need to buy replacement. lol
    Sad

which airport was this? few of my group had the same issue with gopros, airpods, etc departing Queenstown airport. very skeptical that they were actually 'disposed of' as stated on the form.

      • it was Shanghai airport. It didn't get dispose in departure airport (Sydney) but in Shanghai when i transit there. My stupid cost me big time.

  • Great value if you don't have one yet and want to get started, but note batteries aren't compatible with version Mini 3. However Mini 4 is compatible with Mini 3.

  • Is it good for roof inspection. What is cheapest good drone with high quality video and image I can get for the task.

    • Why not try one of many $100 drones, if that's your purpose?

      • Will it have obstacle avoidance? Dun want the drone to crash on the roof

      • Make model, if you actually know any?

  • My Mini1 just crashed, get this or wait for sale of the Mini3Pro?

  • +1

thats insanely cheap for a drone for the fly more combo.

  • oh no FOMO kicking in and these comments arent really helping

but I had a spark when it came out and hardly used it. I'd like to use it on holidays but I see other tourists taking their drones out and it always looks like they are doing something dodgy

    • same, i barely use my mini2. I got so much footage and all sitting in my laptop for nothing. So tired of editing them lol

  • No0o0 just brought mini 2 se for $478 yesterday

  • Back up to 625 dollars now.

  • +1

They Jack the price to $625 now, was planning to price match at JB after work, guess it saves me $500

  • Did anyone get these? Anyone having buyers remorse? Ill buy off ya
