    • yes, can post tmr

Any idea on how long will the laptop last on battery?

    • Based on Latitudes that my kids have the battery that comes with it should 2-3 hours left. You can get aftermarket batteries for about $75 and replace them yourself if you're comfortable with a screwdriver and pulling one cable from the motherboard carefully, all in takes about 15 mins. I've done this to my own refurbs and the battery life is between 5-7 hours depending on the laptop model and battery capacity.

You may also choose to get a 1TB SSD instead of the 250 that comes with this.

Have a look at the online manual for this as these kind of Dells are fairly serviceable and upgradeable.

Dell Latitudes are underrated IMO. I used to use one of these (or similar) for work and in some ways they're better than a Thinkpad

    edit: VGA and RJ-45. Beautiful

    • Tap rejection on the Dell was woeful and I've never found a Dell that does it well, or could have it disabled. (Accupoint)

      • Is this in regard to a touchscreen or something?

        • No it’s the little nib on the keyboard. On the Dells you’re not able to disable the “tap to click” so there are missed movements, when compared to Thinkpads

    • in some ways they're better than a Thinkpad

      Which ways?

I've got a Dell 7xxx series and I don't particularly like it. Touchpad is meh (I used the nipple exclusively on Thinkpads so no comparison there), thermal management seems worse, no manual camera flap, and the always on LEDs for the power button drives me bonkers (I have put tape over it).

  • How is the battery condition on these?,

    • +4

All excellent health on BIOS or brand new battery.

  • any one chatted and got a further discount? Im tossing up between Dell Latitude 5490 i5-8250 vs Dell Latitude 7370 vs Dell Latitude 7250 | Core i7-5600U $30, $50 difference retrospectively.

The gen 8 processors are a big leap, especially power use. A gen 5 is a long way back in history, a Core i7 gen 5 will be a power hog…

      • +3

And Gen8 Supports HEVC hardware decoding. Movies will be OK for the next 5 years including 8k from Gopro and other cameras.

    • +1

Don't buy the i7-5600. It's about eight years old now, it's not worth paying for.

Don't see it as a big deal as easily googled the same model around the same price, or cheaper with less ram.

  • Hey OP. I'm out of the country until 20th Jan so cant receive this, nobody to receive it for me. Any plan that you can make for me?

    • Please call us, number is 0413 325 051

I'm out of the country, won't bother. Thanks anyway

  • Hey OP, what’s the delivery timeframes for Melbourne?

  • 3 to 4 business days

  • Sure, you could get it for less elsewhere, sans warranty however

As always, being an 8th Gen owner (laptop and desktop) and IT person, ill leave a link to my last post (i posted whenever these come up) about the thermal throttling (issue) and mitigation advice (some of which may not work because its Dell):

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/api/folder/list/c?tid=14429355

    • link does not seem to work but yeh I was going to point out thermal throttling as something to think about. Ive got a 7xxx series and had not issues since day one with overheating and throttling and this very typical of this generation of dell laptops. (don't get me wrong, I really like dell but not the lack of performance on this generation)

  • Hi, would dead pixel also be cover warranty?

  • Thanks OP, just ordered one. Nice little deal for a second laptop.

  • my work laptop died so i got one of these hopefully it last longer then the last refurbished laptop i bought

  • How much extra to upgrade to 32G, and how to do it on your website

    • 32Gb would be a waste on a laptop

  • Showing as sold out now. Will you be getting more back in stock or is this finished now?

    • It is available now if you still looking

  • Here the specs say no back lit keyboard but the website specs says yes it does. Ummm which is it? And postage/freight??

    • From the Dell website, it can be either but the stock model will not have backlit, the corporate that purchased these would need to purchase the option for backlit.

From Dell website: Backlit keyboard: Yes (optional)
