Come now, sugar is only mentioned 9 times.

          • +3

@Bdawg: yeah but it is all balanced out by the skimmed milk powder.

    Not suitable for Vegetarians diet

    • +3

Yes. I still don't get this. Why add Gelatine in every thing we eat. Youghurt, Ice cream, Biscuits, Cakes etc.

      • +4

Used as stabilizer and easy way to thicken it especially if making large volumes of items at once

        • yup - if a product has, or is made with cream - check for gelatine. Or honeycomb.

Similarly, cheese - check for animal rennet.

          Other half is vegetarian.

      • +1

Not vegan but I don’t like eating things which contain gelatine either. Just no need for it.

        • +2

There are vegan alternatives to gelatine now, such as agar agar.

    • +1

      Not suitable for human consumption

  • Bought 2, thanks O.P.

    500g of cake for $10

    • +1

Cake is surprisingly expensive to make, even in a factory I bet at $10 this will be below Cole's usual margin for homebrand products.

  • looks like a fantastic deal. only $10 for a basically professional cake.
problem is i already bought the cadbury pudding cake on special in coles $7, and my freezer is too full.oh well. that is also 500g. more or less the same. chocolate is chocolate.

Found it. Thank you. It's in the freezer section of supermarket.

  • how to check stock?

    • You can try searching by store either online or in the app.

A bit hit and miss though, we went to a store a suburb away based on the app only to find no stock (and doubt it got ozbargain'ed that fast!)

  • This sounded like my dream cake. Wasn’t able to find any in the first Coles I went to :( Pray brothers and sisters that the next Coles will bear fruit

Square box in freezer. Mine said $11.25 reduced from $15. But scanned at $10. Was located next to frozen peas and carrots, definitely not where I would have expected it to be.

      • +5

Was located next to frozen peas and carrots

Did you see any gift cards hidden next to them

        • +2

Gift cards were about 6 aisles away towards the checkouts , in a display that was in the way.
Tasted the cake ,it's great. Use by 18 months time. Went back tonight and purchased another. Have 2 in freezer now.

      • +3

The peas and carrots are also promotional items for Christmas so they get put at the promo ends (at least for my Coles). So wherever they normally advertise their freezer specials is where people should be looking

      • +1

Thankyou :) Found plenty at another Coles. I am a happy, chubby ozbargainer

  • Not a bad price if you need a small one

  • Had to try a couple of Coles stores but got one in the end, thanks OP!

Got it, expiry date June 2025, can’t believe how long these last

    • @ozvictor I can't find the sugar content amount on the Coles website. Does it say on the packaging? Thanks

      • +1

you can zoom in on the package photo on the coles website.
25.3 grams sugar per 83 grams serve (6 serves in 500 gram cake)
30.5 grams sugar per 100 grams

        • Great thanks

  • Thanks OP can’t wait to try this!
