    Good find OP.

Also worth considering the Edge 30 Fusion for $50 more: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/motorola-edge-30-fusion-5…

    Comparison: https://nanoreview.net/en/phone-compare/motorola-moto-g84-vs…

After analyzing all the data, we think that the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion is definitely a better buy.

If battery life is more important however, this is a better buy. Especially considering you’re really paying $299.

I’m using the G84 from previous deal, can vouch it’s an excellent phone but for $50 more definitely get the Edge 30 Fusion.

Note: GC given on the spot if purchasing in store. If using click and collect or online delivery, GC gets emailed in 5 days to the registered email. They wont hand out physical GCs for click and collect orders.

If buying this phone, it comes with a “basic” case which is not good if you’re clumsy and drop phone often (like me :). I ordered the below one and a screen protector too:
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/284450783262
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124678568071

Hope the above helps, sorry for the long post.

You helped these pagans , no need to apologise.

      • -1

gadgets4geeks also have a selection of case for G84 as well. My friend pick the heavy duty black one. No so heavy duty feel but better than the stock one.

Also these guys advise if you are using a case, DO NOT use a full coverage screen protecter as it will peel off. Very helpful people.

        • +1

The zuslab screen protector I ordered is not full coverage, it leave a few mm off the borders to allow for case. Also a DIY one, the bubbles get self creased out over a 24 hour period. I found it super easy to instal.

Also worth considering the Edge 30 Fusion for $50 more

but there is no gift card for the Edge so isn't it $150 more?

      • +1

Yep, it was too late to edit my comment :)

      12gb ram in g84 vs 8gb in edge 30

      • +1

        Also micro sd card slot….

        • -4

Can't understand why anal about SD card in 2023…..

Yeah, I heard all the argument, just though I say it….

          • +1

@syswong: Well to be fair 256gb will fill up quickly with the large video and pic files of today. 1TB is kinda needed unless you upload your pics to the cloud often.

            • -2

@nobro25: That is why I say why people do that in 2023…..

TV and movies: everything is online.
Personal photos and videos: Cloud is so…. cheap
Games: Morden games are so complex can't see anyone running that on SD card

So my point was someone has to be on the old internet habit to need an SD Card. Then the question is why not encourage people to change that habit? SD card fails, phones get lost. It is really not a good idea to keep so much data in one place anymore.

              • +2

@syswong: Great if you want to use cloud services to store your media - but it's not a universal desire. I'll use it for sharing and backup but not for main storage.

  • Very good 👍 mobile 📲 for $299

  • +1

Edge 30 Fusion was $350 at The Good Guys not too long ago, and for those asking if it is worth the extra money I'd say, from my personal usage, it probably is. The battery lasts all day, the charging is extremely fast and the performance is solid. It does get hot when playing intensive games but in general it is an excellent device.

    • hows the camera at night time?

      • +1

        Not a great camera.

  • Are any of these recommended for recording videos?

Looking at getting one for recording shorts (cooking recipes, etc) for YouTube…

    • +3

What, the G54 has no OLED, half the storage, and only 8GB of RAM.

This G84 is a way better deal for $100 more 🤷🏼‍♂️

      • Esim is important for some…

        • I put my friend's SD card in that slot, how does that fit a physical sim🤔🤔🤔

          • +2

@syswong: Esims are digital - no physical card required.

            • @bargainshooter: I mean the G84, it is dual physical sim with the second slot for either SD card or Sim card. How did the physical sim fit in that slot?

              • +1

@syswong: Suggest it can either do 2 sims or 1 sim + sd card

                • @bargainshooter: Yes I know, I just wonder how the physical sim goes into the SD card slot, it's different size….

                  • @syswong: Generally 90deg orientation of same spot.

                    • -1

@Ulysses31: Thanks, saw that when I was checking out the hack for the SD slot.

BTW just in case anyone is still watching this thread, this phone is junk, guess you do get what you pay for!!

  • +1

Fantastic phone, just wish it had eSim! I'd be all over this deal if it did
Will wait for a killer deal on the Edge 40

  • +1

Bought from last deal for 338$ with price match. Its really good phone, no issues so far, performing good. Only thing is lack is good camera but its not terrible. Screen is really bright and colour are very vibrant. NFC, 5G, Headphone Jack, FM Radio, Dual Sim, Memory Card all that for this price is decent deal.

  • What's the RRP of this?

  • -5

I'd stop buying physical sim phones and only buy a phone with e-sim, nowadays.

  • Dear All, how to get $100 bonus? Is the final price going to be $299? Thanks

  • Thanks for your link. Sorry for my elephant brain. How to manage to pay $299 instead of $399? Thanks

    • +1

You have to pay $399 and you get a $100 gift card

    • Elephants actually have similar brains to humans

  • To those who are after spare android phones: get whatever Xiaomi is on sale off AliExpress, that’s where the bargain is. They have consistently exceeded my expectations.

    • +1

Ali Express is yet to exceed my expectations.

      • I had about 8% of the items (in terms of quantity, not $ value) I bought since Black Friday refunded due to low quality. It’s not too bad, similar to eBay disputes, just need to provide photo/videos. They seem to be fair, just wish they could ban those dodgy sellers. I guess most people don’t bother asking for a refund and that’s how the sellers got away.

    • As much as I like to discourage buying PRC brands, This G84 deal is a good deal for its spec….

The only Xiaomi has all the key spec of the G84 is Xiaomi Redmi K40S, which is a China model so god know how they play with the OS and goes for almost US$300. Also no local warranty. It has better processor and camera though.

      • My understanding is they can be easily rooted and you can load custom rom. Yes, the warranty can be tricky, but might not be missing much judging by the tales told by Samsung survivors 😅

        • My understanding is they can be easily rooted and you can load custom rom.

Then non of the apps require device security check will work. Aka all your bank apps, government apps….etc

but might not be missing much judging by the tales told by Samsung survivors 😅

Samsung user since S9, and I swear by their services and warranty. All my stuff is done in store though. Not sure about what other do.

Also Samsung software update is so good now, unlike Xiaom, PRC dunping tactics, just sell and don't care about support.

          • @syswong: I thought they have something to hide the fact that the phone is rooted, wouldn’t be too far from how windows activator works? I’ve not played with it though.

It’s a relief to know that Samsung has upgraded their post-sales services. It’s been a major factor for me to stay with 🍎. Very hopeful 😇

            • @frugalftw: Rooted phone will fail Play Integrity which is replacing SafetyNet, both an APP security API.

Apart from warranty, the way that Chinese phone deploy android is just too risky not to mention they all have to comply to CCP regulation hence I said got know what is in their software.

It’s a relief to know that Samsung has upgraded their post-sales services. It’s been a major factor for me to stay with 🍎. Very hopeful 😇

YMMV just like Apple. I have both and seem ok except when Apple remove Apple care from account credit. Still need to talk to them about that.

  • Just visited my local JB. Apparently they are all sold out in store for the western half of Melbourne. The salesman's advice was to buy it online and receive the gift card in the next few days - but that means the gift card can't be used for the phone purchase.

    • +1

but that means the gift card can't be used for the phone purchase.

The gift card is given to you after you pay so you cannot use the card for the phone even in store. Unless yo know someone in store then that may be possible.

When I did the transaction for my friend, he cant be border to use it so he sold the GC to me for $50. I also saw others try to sell the phone at around $360 (there is a few of these already). Amazing how much trouble people willing to go through to score a gift card,

Maybe I should use discounted GC plus the $100 GC I got for $50 to buy another one and price beat them at $350. Still make $140🤣🤣

      • Ah, right. I misunderstood Going Broke's comment above (I thought they'll honour it on the purchase in-store). Well, it's all online-only now anyway from their website, for the one colour remaining.

  • stock finished online delivery and store for midnight blue and for marshmallow blue not available for online delivery and only available in few stores with limited stock and you can't do click and collect … !

    • Not a great phone but at this price I am surprise it took this long to get to this stage.

Within reasonable distance from Sydney area Bankstown, Liverpool, Warringah Mall showing stock but better call and check.

      • I was made run around by high schooler working at JB….! Calling them means nothing.

I called and they said they have it in stock and within 20 minutes I was at the store and the sales guy checked and said they still have it and he will bring it out for me…. 2 minutes later he came out and said the phone they had is on hold for someone else….! Now this guy tried to sell me another phone before going behind the door… Obviously they are playing silly tricks .. !

Anyway that phone was there for another day but on hold now how many people would have gone to store to pick and end-up buying something else ?

Extremely fishy in my opinion but anyway I will buy something else .. !

        • I was in a store when the deal just started and took them total an hour to find the stock and sort out the gift card, not to mention I was buying on gehave of someone else ! Sometimes it just not go out way😢😢

May be when you call you should tell time you are 20 minutes away and hold one for you too.

If you are actually phone huting then may be follow frugalftw's advise and look for some CCP dumping at AliExpress, Giztop also has some deals for about $400.

          • @syswong: I did in past bought Xiaomi from AliExpress and delivery was super smooth, how I prefer now stock android over anything else.

Motorola has been great with me over last 5 years… It last 2 to 3 years but considering low cost I don't mind buying new one after 2 years.

I have already purchased JB gift voucher so no choice but to buy from them this time.

  • Finally out of stock
.. see if someone can check using below link and report it… I did but nothing happened… :(
