2 Years Xbox Game Pass Ultimate via Game Pass Core: $239.85 + $1 New / $18.95 Lapsed Subscriber (Approx $9.99 P/M) @ JB Hi-Fi

440

Since the VPN hacks are very "temperamental" now this is the safest way I have found to get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a few years at a discount using all Aus Money and AU vendor's websites.
This hack has been around for a while and sure it's been listed before but I used it the other day and got my Xbox subscription to Jan 2026 So can confirm it still works.

When converting to Ultimate an Xbox Game Pass Core 12 Month sub you will get 3:2 convert so 2 months for 3 months or 3 years of Core will get you 2 years of Ultimate.

You need to be either a NEW or EXPIRED Xbox account (not active)
Check you have the option to activate Ultimate being advertised at either https://account.microsoft.com or (https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-game-pass?xr=shellnav)
(don't use it yet)

Purchase 3 years XBOX Game Pass Core 12 Month - Xbox [Digital Code] from Amazon or JB for $79.95
Activate all Core Pass on your account via https://account.microsoft.com/billing/redeem so you have 3 years of Game Pass Core Active
Now use the link to update your account from Core to Ultimate pay for New accounts $1 or $18.95 for expired and converting to Ultimate will do 2 month for 3 months so you will get 2 years of Ultimate.

3 Years of Game Pass Core 12 Month sub $79.95 * 3 = $239.8($6.66 Per month Core)
converting to Ultimate $1 or $18.95 for 1 month
You will get 24 months (Excluding convert to Ultimate costs) ($9.99 Per month) for Ultimate

Retail $18.95 for Ultimate * 24 months = $454.80

The above hack does not work for Active Subs the conventions are not as good and closer to the real costs

I just used a 'VPN hack' just the other day. 2 years and 1 month for ~$150. I was expired and got it until Jan 26.

    • Which VPN hack did you use?

      • -3

        Nunya works pretty well

    • Where did you buy it from?

    • +2

Did you use the Turkish uncle Bill?

    • Could you tell us how? Please.

      • I did it few months ago too. Just used the free google extension and bought from eneba

    • Please share which hack you talking about. Thanks!

    • +13

I just bought from CDKeys 3 x 12 month Turkey Live Gold memberships - used VPN to appear in Turkey and then redeemed at the redeem site.
      Huge 'hack'.

      • Miss the old 1:1 gold to ultimate

      • Why was I only able to do one year. I thought they put a 12 month max on Turkey and Argentina.

      • this doesnt work anymore - just tried it and ended up getting a refund

        • +1

I just did mine earlier and it still works using the method in the Reddit post about it.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/XboxGamePass/wiki/index/gold-ultima…

3x12 month Core keys from CD Keys, then Turkey VPN to activate, then back into the AU account to "upgrade" to Ultimate for 18.95 which then converts the 3 years of the Core at a 2:3 ratio, so you get 2 years (+1 month for the 18.95) of Ultimate.

          • +1

@sp3tsnaz: I'll try again in 2 years time +1 for the reddit post, my mate hasnt renewed yet.

          • @sp3tsnaz: Can you give me a hand, please? I used the VPN method 2 years ago, and now it's expired. Back then I bought it via ENEBA, but can't seem to find the deal anymore. When logging into CDKEY, the prices are pretty much the same, so I see no savings there at all.
Do you connect to a VPN before logging into CDKEYS to purchase the core 12 month packs or is there a specific keyword I should use when searching?
            Thanks!

        • Just bought 2 years Core via cdkeys for turkey = $128.98.

          Then followed the reddit example.
Added it (with vpn) to microsoft account.

Then disconnected and bought 1 month of game pass ultimate.

Now its showing as expiring on 10th January 2025?
          Super confused.

**Edit - think its 1st October 2025 which sounds about right.

  • +13

    So expensive…

    • +7

Yeah if the vpn hack isn’t working next time mines up got renewal I won’t be continuing.

I simply don’t have enough time to play video games to justify the price.

Cheap older games from Amazon will be my go to.

      • +3

Just redeem the free Epic games.

      • +1

I think a lot of people are in the same boat. Xbox numbers must be pumped because of the cheap prices in the last 3 years.

      • Yeah, I have to end up buying games when they leave game pass because I don't finish them in time. Even then there aren't really that man that interest me.

An hours or two demo would be good enough for me to decide whether I want to buy a game, don't really need game pass.

      • Yeah, and I am way too depressed to even be considering playing new games anyway.

      • +2

Xbox should do a hour based discount. So if you only want a 10 hour a month gamepass its half price. I got 2 kids that use my gamepass so its worth it for me. But me alone no time.

    • +4

$10/month isn't expensive, you only need to play like 2 or 3 AAA over 12 months games to make it worth it

      • +1

Who has the time? Took me 60hrs to finish Horizon and 100hrs for Forbidden West, now i'm 45hrs into Days Gone.

      • no decent AAA titles have been released for a while

      • -1

2 or 3? I hardly have the energy nor time to finish one AAA game in a month

        • +2

Think they meant 2 or 3 over a year? (I could be wrong)

    • +4

PlayStation Plus Deluxe just shy of $200 pre year. Now that’s expensive

      • Any workarounds for PlayStation Plus for cheaper subscription? Just got the kids a PS4 but the subs are so expensive including from Turkey.

  • Thank you

  • Can someone tag the vpn hack to try

    • It's not a "hack". Buy a cheap sub (Argentina, Turkey etc) from g2a or similar sites. Turn on the VPN, go to redeem.microsoft.com. Done.

  • You need to be either a NEW or EXPIRED Xbox account (not active)

My 3 year subscription expired several months back that was when jb sold cards cheap each year and you could convert.

My subscription is expired since it ended as Microsoft can’t get the funds as old card so where does this put me when doing this? Do I pay the $1 or the $18

I did see officeworks was selling slightly below cost ultimate cards 3 months for $47 odd but that comes to $190 plus which is more than this deal

    • Your an exisiting member so you would need to pay the $18.95 first as per the above instructions.
Therefore you are better to buy the 12 month core card. I hope this helps you

      • Why just 12 months? Is it not better to max out as much as possible.
So what’s the deal again if I just wanted 1yr or 2yr or max out at 3yr?
How much core do I need and is it one off 18.95 how do I know this will work for me and will Microsoft not want updated card details then.

        • The process works and you are right that you should load up 3 years and then it will cost you another $18.95.

I just followed the process exactly as posted with a recently expired account I can confirm I've now got Ultimate until Jan 2026.

          • @mitchjc91: So just a one of $18.95 regardless if one year or two or three years?
And what about my account having a card thats expired obviously Microsoft is contacting me probably automatically often saying to update details to pay subscription.
Obviously getting cards etc as mentioned on this post no card purchase are needed and will not affect things right?

            • @bwatt72: Check you've turned off auto-renew. It may be prompting for new card info if it's trying to renew your membership with an expired card.

I had payment info saved but auto-renew off. Make sure that you're logged in to your Microsoft account then confirm the link OP posted presents you the offer to proceed: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-game-pass?xr=shellnav

Not entirely sure what you mean by "no card purchases are needed". You need your card to pay the $18.95 and core membership activated on your account of any length, 3 years being optimal.

The core membership gets converted to ultimate at 2/3 the length plus the 1 month you pay for upfront which requires card payment info.

You would be the $18.95 up front for one month regardless off how long your core membership is then it should work out to:
$80+$18.95 for 9 months of GPU
$160+$18.95 for 17 months of GPU
              OR
$240+$18.95 for 25 months of GPU

              Hope this helps!

Wait what, I better not be forced to leave my comfortable Turkish homeland!

  • +2

unpopular opinion…but these may seem like great value. I've had gamepass for 4 years now. Half legit and half Turkey VPN etc..

it's expired recently, where did that $650 get me?

none of those games are mine. I dunno, maybe I'm old school lol. Physical media is GOAT to me.

    • -5

Even with physical media, you're still only licencing it, not owning it, exactly the same as if you buy the digital download.

      • +1

Theoretically, yes, but practically they are worlds apart.

      • +2

        but you can resell it..

        • -1

Yes, but in terms of "mine" it's no different, as neither are.

    • -7

      OK boomer

      • +4

You know 'ok boomer' is kind of old now right?
        Quite ironic.

  • +3

It may be an old statement but at least you can re-sell or trade in a disc you can't do either with digital content. Physical equals $ back but digital equals zilch.

    • How many games are you buying for $15 or whatever per month?

  • +1

If you want to save money, you can share your account with up to nine devices. However, only the main account can play games with game clients like EA, Ubisoft, and others since they don't allow account sharing.

    • Wait what? On Xbox or on PC? On Xbox the access applies to any user on your "home" console (single device) and to your user account on any console. It's common to set the home console to a friend/family member and vice versa, but that's still just two people. How the hell do you expand that to nine devices?

  • Does it matter how long after expiry to add these on? As mine doesn't expire til end of January.

    • +1

      Nope, next day is fine

  • +4

Just purchased 3 x 12 MONTH XBOX LIVE GOLD MEMBERSHIP (TURKEY) from CDKeys ($50.39 each). Applied to redeem.microsoft.com account via VPN to Turkey. Disconnected VPN and upgraded membership to Game Pass Ultimate. Now expires 6/2/2026. Total cost : $170.12.
Did not get the $1 upgrade offer, so had to pay $18.95 to upgrade.

    • Did you already have a subscription when doing this? I have a current one and have been thinking of extending it before they lock this method down!

      • Membership was expired. You don't get the chance to upgrade when you have a current subscription, which is the part that converts the three years Live to Game Pass Ultimate.

      • -1

I would want to know the same. wakeipaaron?

    • As someone who’s sweet previous turkey subscription has just expired 2 days ago, do I need to wait any time to cash in on this?

  • This should technically work with EB games too as they're selling 12 mths for 79.95?

Only issue I see is when I try to click into the EB games website, the link is broken/deleted etc

  • +2

Also just did the trukey xbox live gold upgrade and worked. Thanks to those who have helped above.

Just a heads up, if you change the paying currency on CDKeys to USD and have a CC with decent exchange rates, you can get it for a little less. I got 3 x 12 months for $143 AUD

  • +2

Turkey Xbox Live Gold 3 x12 months, just converted to 2 years for me, 16 Jan. AU$154 + the one month of $18.95. Used Nord VPN obfuscated Turkey server.

  • Thanks to the above posters. Turkey Xbox Live gold 3x12 converted to 2 years for me. I got 3x codes off Cdkeys.

One note: make sure your MS account is set to the Australia region before you redeem the vouchers. Mine was set to US and when i tried to convert to GPU i got an error "Your subscription is from a different region" as I was trying to do the GPU upgrade via the Aus xbox store. The US xbox store worked OK but they don't have the $1 offer.

I had to contact Microsoft support to change my region to Aus before it worked via the Aus store.

  • Wow JB are useless. I'm trying to buy 3 of them… After the first one the other 2 have been cancelled. What a joke…. Tried buying another one again… Same thing

  • Does the Turkey VPN method still work? My sub expires at end of month so I'd like to know if it's ok.

  • I just bought a new laptop which comes with a "free" 1 month of game pass. which i have not activated yet.
I assume i should do this before activating my "free" month or it will count as an "active" subscription and doesnt work? does anyone know?

  • My Sub just expired and wanting to know if anyone has successfully used Turkey method 🙏

    • +1

Just renewed my game pass, the VPN method with buying overseas Game Pass Core keys and upgrading to Ultimate still works fine (I bought an India key and used free UrbanVPN).

Important to note however is recently Microsoft has changed the limits on how much Game Pass subscriptions can be stacked in certain countries (13 months max for Game Pass Core). I assume this is tied to the code itself, but I am not certain.

      These countries include:
      * Argentina (EA Play)
      * Brazil
      * Chile
      * Colombia
      * Mexico
      * Singapore
      * Taiwan
      * Turkey (EA Play)

EA Play duration is unaffected apparently (though with the 13 month limit I am not sure if that means if you go over that limit, that only EA Play will have the longer duration or if it is guided by the length of Game Pass Ultimate)

The 2 exceptions are marked by the EA Play next to the country, they also will follow the 13 month maximum.

This will only be an issue if you are planning to stack more than 12 months for conversion in those countries.

      • Interested where you got your India keys from? Eneba?

        • +1

Yeah. There's different key sites out there with their own pricing differences. Worth looking up on multiple sites if you want best deal (and to try and find keys that aren't from the countries with 13 month limits if that is a concern).

Paid about $53 dollars for a 12 month key after services fees and all that.
