Apple MacBook Pro 14.2" Laptop (M2 Pro, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) $3599 + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C) @ Mwave

Looks like a good deal. If you are thinking in comparison with M3 Pro, apple on campus rates for MacBook Pro M3 Pro for 36GB/1TB come out to be 4200 (last checked 26 Dec 2023)

  • So Mwave's MBPs are better than others by 0.2". Noice.

  • Fantastic price. I would have had the IT department buy me this one if it had been this price a couple of weeks ago.

This gives me some reassurance that I made the right decision buying one after a whole day of number crunching 😆 thanks

    • It’s been at this price since Black Friday I believe. Mwave store rep actually posted the deal here.

      • I think it went out of stock in minutes after it was posted. Most likely stock allocated to black friday sales was limited.

        • +1

Nah that's not true. I've been closely monitoring this laptop.

The other things listed in the ozbargain post were sold out. This laptop was still available.

          • @crimsondarkn: Interesting. Do you think it's a good, meh, or a bad deal? And why

            • +1

@Nalsra: Probably the best deal for 14" M2 macbook pro i've seen. Unless you want the M1 with an extra 1TB refurbished. Currently on Apple store for $3800.

If you have a corporate discount 5%, that knocks it down to about the same price.

              • @crimsondarkn: Thanks. For me M2 pro made a bit more sense with slightly better performance for graphics, video editing, and potentially a better resale value (m2 pro being a 2023 release).

                • @Nalsra: Sounds good mate! Just curious, from your research, what made you choose the 14" over the 16"?

                  • +3

@crimsondarkn: primarily my budget and the fact that even a 27" extended screen is not enough for me, let alone a 2" addition costing hundreds of $. This one was just the right price point and the specs that I needed (and wanted, for the most part). I would have gone with MBP M3 Max for 4700 on Apple on Campus if I had the $. Max seems way more resilient (price wise) when reselling and is super future-proof.

They previously had free shipping the month before christmas

    So much RAM ,

    • +1

It's like 4x what's needed! Do people seed their torrents directly from RAM??

      • Good for graphics, visuals, video editing though, especially with genAI software making it easier than ever

      • +1

these days i wouldn't build a system without at least 16gb tbh

        • -3

8GB RAM on apple is like 32GB on windows. So 4GB is enough.

  • +2

Not as good as the deal in june , m1max 64gb 2tb for similar money , very happy with mine

    • +1

Bloody hell mate. I looked up that deal on ozbargain. Absolutely insane and even cheaper than this.

      $3.1k for 64gb and 2tb 14" M1 Max.. Hot damn.

      • +1

agree. that is CRAZYY. y'all were super lucky you caught that

    • Agree this was the GOAT. Had one in my cart and pulled out of buying only for my i5 2017 Pro to die a month later! Still stuck without a machine thanks to a total dry spell of any decent deals (this one isn’t very good- see my comment lower down)

wait for apple refurb? just picked up my 14 m1 pro with 16gb and 1tb for $2539 today

rn $3800 yields you m1 pro with 32GB and 2TB

    • -1

      nah, this is new

      • +1

apple certified refurb is same as new. just comes in a different box. same warranty

        • ah I see. You got a great deal
Would be even better if apple on campus discounts applied to refurbished macs

          • @Nalsra: I wish! haha sadly it does not. neither AOC nor EPP pricing applies

          • +1

@Nalsra: did a deep inspection of my unit:
            - body is spotless
            - screen is spotless
            - keyboard is new
            - battery has 18 cycles on it

if something was used here - could have been the main board

            • @shabaka: That's great. Plus the apple warranty should take of the rest of the worry. Thanks for sharing.

I wonder why it's had trouble selling at this price since Black Friday. They keep extending the promotion and mwave staff mentioned they have too much in stock.

I also have the m2 pro 19 core 16" 32gb, and even that gets quite hot to touch now and then, so i wonder whether the thermals for the 14" would be worse. It also goes into swap memory quite often too.

    • But one with these specs is nowhere else to be found. I'm also thinking, if there was a common issue it should have been on resale a lot, but I hardly saw any. I hope heating is not an issue, although, less likely for it to be worse than my organisation provided hella noisy dell.

      • +2

I agree. It is a good deal compared to what's out there right now. This setup is actually 2899 USD RRP, so it's actually a $600 AUD saving, give or take

    • +2

You can get the M3 Pro with 36Gb/1TB on AOC stacked with the forthcoming Coles 10% saving on Apple GCs at a lower overall price point.

Not surprising they are struggling to shift these.

      • When do you think the Coles Apple GCs are gonna drop? Can you actually stack up to $4k?

        • +1

There is a deal coming up any day now at Coles. (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/817969)

Yes I believe you can stack $4K. You need to add them to your Apple account rather than just using them at checkout as there is a limit on how many GC you can apply at the checkout page.

One thing worth noting with this deal (That I did not realise) is that this deal is for the top-specced M2 Pro processor, whereas the baseline M3 Pro will be slower than this (But much better efficiency). So it perhaps is not as clear-cut as I made out and you need to consider what you want the machine for. This particular M2 Pro actually performs in line with an M2 Max for certain workloads, which is impressive.

  • rejoice me mates, Apple Certified Refurbished has restocked $2299 base MacBook Pro 14's with M1 Pro (8c/14c) 16/512

    best value Apple silicon ever.

Pro 16 with 10c/16c M1 Pro and 16/512 is $2879 for those who like 16 inchers. These are real desktop replacement, but kinda heavy. I am 14 inch fan myself
