My dad has this. Decent as a tablet. Very slow as a desktop.

    • its ChromeOS right ? how u run it as a desktop?

      • +1

When you connect the keyboard, the OS ceases to appear and act like a tablet - it acts more like a windows lite version. You can't play all of the tablet apps while the keyboard is connected.

        • when you connecet the keyboard u got different layout, the apps u running ar still the same, i don't see any reason why tablet mode is faster.
you couldn't run all of the tablet apps while the keyboard is connected becoz the android simulator doesn't support, this also won't make the tablet mode is faster…

            @samelight: I didn't comment on the speed.

            • @ilikeit: but u replied to me !
we ar talking about the speeds and u join our conversation with a different topic?

  • Love the price not too sure about the eMMC.

Yeah the 8gb version is much much much much better.

    • Yup I'd second this. I've got the 8GB version and even on that the performance struggles a little bit at times, would definitely recommend getting that over this 4GB version if you can.

      • And I'd third this. I have the 4GB version and bought an 8GB one because 4GB wasn't enough, 8GB of RAM has been fine for everything I do.

I'll fourth this, not that i have one just want to be part of the chain

          • +3

@Headless: I'll fifth this, seeing as I love lining up at the shops.

  • Hold out.. could be $99 in 3 months as they clear stock. Like when they sold the M10.

    • love the m10

    • Have the $99 M10 👍🏻

What's happened to this community ALDI know questions asked return policy is a building block of this platform.

    • 60 days actually…

  • Nice deal ops.
A quick google search shows that Officeworks has one for $247 with double storage space …but limited stock

    • OW has MediaTek processor. Aldi has SD. There may be other differences but I lost interest.

  • Perfect for some Lumafusion editing.

Trust aldi to get the 4gb ram version slowwwww.

All of the granny Karens who obsess over their special buys (should see the FB group…) will claw each other's eyes out to get one assuming it's an amazing deal, and not realising their smartphone probably has more computing power.

      • Lol absolutely right .

This is the first gen Duet right? Not Duet 3 nor Duet 5?

    • This is not the latest Duet, Probably first gen. Duet 5 has 13.3 OLED screen with 128gb eMMC sold last Black Friday sale by The Good Guys for $212 in this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/815570

      • myself..like many are still awaiting stock, we've been told February lol

    • +2

This is not the first gen, I assume this is the Duet 3.

The original has a mediatek helio p60 (?) SoC and this one has a Snapdragon 7C Gen 2. Also 1 vs 2 USB C ports. Though as many people have mentioned 4GB RAM is not enough for anything but the lightest use. And the VERY slow EMMC storage means when the system runs out of RAM and starts swapping it's basically unusable.

  • 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC storage…..back to the future….lol

  • +1

the memory kills this deal, cause the 8GB version was available on Amazon for $299 before.

  • I saw the ad from ALDI, thought it might be a lightweight and cheap device to travel with, but then did a quick google.
Got the Lenovo website as one of the top links on Google.
    https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/lenovo/lenovo-edu-chr…

    DYOR , however … TLDR :
(only) everybody who (thankfully) disclosed that they got the device for free, rated it super high and gave it 5 stars.
All other reviews (which sound legit to me) : 1 star - avoid at all cost !
