Just got an email from DELL notifying me of a $50 drop of the dell mini 9". I've been looking at this for quite some time, might be time finally to get one.

  • I think you can ring in and as for a 5% discount as well. Usually they give that out for just about anything. I'm wondering if you could call in to ask for a 10% discount and say that you were a victim of their recent $250 stuff up.

  • Another option is to get voda's 5GB bundle for $70/mo. Which is good for those who want 3G (better in spec and usability wise). Standard dell mini 9 + 3G usb dongle combination is still cheaper for casual 3G use.

  • It would be worth asking as they only went up last Sunday as the original price was $499. The guy at the Dell booth said the majority of everything advertised in their latest catalog has increased by $100. I checked on the Monday prices compared to the previous day and he was correct.

    • +1

Not right. Mini 9 started at $599, went up to $699 when the AUD slumped, came back down to $599 a while ago and now has hit a new low at $549. We got one price matched at Officeworks (shelf price still $599) for $521.55. Beats the Dell price by 5%, took it home today.

  • Well it must have been a kiosk only quote. The catalogue had them the day after for $599, and I got it written on the back of the guys business card at Dell Kiosk Mt Gravatt Garden City QLD on 20/11/08 for $499. Cheers.

  • Pfft they can keep it. After the Vostro stunts, Dell just isn't worth the time.

    • agreed!

  • After their last couple of episodes, I'd stay as far away as possible from Dell.

  • Regarding pricing changes that occur on the Monday/Thursday… there is a way to keep the previous weeks price just in case the freebie or price changes on you.

I take no responsibility for any changes to Dell's online cart system, but I found this thread on another forum to be potentially very helpful with price changes…
