  • Ooo sweet deal op, any idea if ram and/or storage are expandable?

Edit: ah shucks dedicated GPU, would've bought it in a heartbeat 🥲

Get the oled version. I got it two days ago. Superb.

        • +3

Yep. I bought one for my sis as I have a gaming laptop. But goddamn the screen is gorgeous. I want to keep it for myself 😅. The oled is worth and the price is a steal

          • @Raj09: Officeworks also have same oled model but ryzen 7 for $1,197, which one is the better deal?

            • @JetLi: Depends on your use case. I'm using for occasional tinkering about with code, entertainment and study while travelling.

The ryzen 7 might be more suited for heavy use. But there's no dgpu so don't put your hopes too high.

          • @Raj09: Can you confirm if CPU is R5-7640U? The officeworks description says quad core (not hexa)

        • +1

Bought one just over an hour ago and already returning it due to severe graphical artifacting as soon as even a slight load is applied. Sample size of 1, but maybe something to keep in mind.

          • @BleakFallsBarrel: is this the ryzen oled version? that doesnt sound right? maybe a fault?

            • +1

@FsYK: Yeah, we went with the Ryzen version for the OLED screen. Definitely faulty, the replacement seems good so far. Much cooler than the first too. As I said, it’s a small sample size and the replacement seems to be all good so far. But it’s something I’d want to be aware of if I were buying again.

      • oled ones aren't touch unfortunately

      • @Raj09 How is your sister finding the battery life on the device? What are your thoughts on getting the ryzen 7 model

        • +1

From what I heard it's going well. Battery life is pretty much as expected. Mind you she's using for study and movies

      • Thanks, for pointing this out. I decided to get OLED. I don't really value touchscreen much and I see it potentially as an easier point of failure. This is replacing a laptop I got 10 years ago, which is still chugging, so I expect only the same expectancy…

      shucks dedicated GPU

      No?

      • +1

Yea no dedicated GPU 🥲 can't edit it anymore

  • Keep in mind meteor lake is out and delivers much better power efficiency + graphics.

    • How long do we have to wait for Aus market tho. And longer for deals or reasonable price :(.

  • I just bought this similar Acer model from HN yesterday with the OLED screen. (note not touchscreen) for $997. They also had a promotion to get 10% back in HN gift card as well.

      HN one has 8GB RAM

    • +1

That's an 8gb dude. I looked at that as well before buying the officeworks one

      • So is this laptop ram upgradeable? If it is then may be HN one is better deal.

  • +1

I got one from OW, amazing laptop but the speakers absolutely sucks !!!! You will be disappointed with speakers and you are warned

    • Yep. Had same experience. I put some headphones and an amp and dac

      • Sorry what's an amp and dac and what did you do to make the sound better ?.

        • I have an ifi dac /amp. You plug your headphones into them and plug the dac to the laptop via usb. They are better if you need great sound from your laptop. Else you can also have cheap usb dac which you can hook up headphones to

Got this yesterday and upgraded to Win11 Pro. No regrets so far. Running multiple vms on a vmware makes it about to fly but nothing crazy so far.

That 13500H and 16G handles the load easily.

    • Whats the best way to upgrade to pro and how much did that cost?

      • $169. Go through the Windows Activation option through the Settings menu. It will take you to the Microsoft Store where you can find upgrade to Pro option.

Core Ultra is game changer compared to older Core Intel

    • +1

You also need to consider AMD.

  • Not as good as the OLED with RTX 3050 6GB that was available at the same price.

    • Touch screen?

  • I dunno if its just me who finds 14" screen too small for regular use.

    • Here I am lamenting the loss of "usable" 11 inch laptops. It all depends on use case.

      • Yeah, I’m with you. Although 13.3” is probably my preferred. However, the physical footprint of this Acer 14” is actually smaller than my Toshiba Satellite 13.3”. As the Acer is thicker/taller, the Toshiba looks more sleek.

    • I much prefer a 14" form factor if I have to move the laptop often but at home I do pair it with an external 24"

  • What's the RRP for these? The specs are pretty good for the price but is this discounted at all?

    • it was 100 more a couple months ago

  • Got the oled version with ryzen 7 7840u/780m.
Screen is impressive and may very well replace my thinkpad which I was adamant could not be replaced.
All in all a great package for the price, only wish they did it in a darker aluminium or a black.

For those who don't know, I'm pretty sure all the swift go's have 2 m2 ssd slots.

  • Off topic - will the Ryzen 7 OLED version work when connected to a dock (via USB C) to allow multi-displays?

I'm not understanding all these USB symbols on Ryzen laptops :-(. My google-fu is weak.

I know Thunderbolt on Intel laptops lets me use multi-display when connected to the dock (I get the lightning symbol near the USB C port).

    Thanks

I am also considering this one from JB Hifi. For $1049 I think it is quite good value considering both of these are similarly spec(ed).

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lenovo-yoga-slim-6-evo-14…

    Thoughts, comments on this one?

    • +1

I bought the yoga slim 6 from JB on BF which have a better build quality (e.g. metallic) compared to this Swift go.

    • The resolution is inferior

    • The swift is a winner at the price and is much better value. The build might not be the best but it trounces the lenovo.

    • In my opinion, both are good value to buy for basic use. Acer one is more actractive with a little bit on price. But i choose Slim 6 for its stylish look, modern design with oled screen. For me Full HD+ screen is enough entertainment on youtube, social base. Another aspect, on a review about the item on youtube, the magine is good for charging battery overnight automatically always keeping at level of 80% based on user's habit, helping much for lifetime batttery use.
