Most likely an Amazon Listing Error and actually the Boom 3 (not Megaboom 3).

    • Regardless,i managed to get OW(VIC, Elsternwick) to pricematch, took about 10mins for them to figure out whether it was boom /megaboom, originally they brought me boom3.

  • +1

it says boom 3 in the product description i wonder if they will actually send megaboom 3

  • Ultimate Ears Boom 3 Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker - Sunset Red

    Says boom 3 👀

  • +7

    Confirmed with Amazon. It's boom.

    • booo-oom!

  • +9

I sent link to TGG via chat, they price matched for Megaboom 3. FYI $98 + I added 3 year wear and tear warranty $30 = $128. Order processed and will be collecting in an hour. Thanks OP!!

    • +1

Got a screen shot by any chance?

    • +1

TGG said "they are not match this price" :(

    • +1

I just got 1 priced matched via chat
      Thank you!!

      • unfair, paid for it from goodguys then checked wrong item. won't honour now!

      • was that before or after they changed the amazon title ?

        • not sure wasted like a hour on their chat & have asked for a refund…

  • +11

Why on earth would you pay an extra $30 (nearly 30% extra!) for a warranty, that you would likely still be able to claim anyways!

    • -7

Manufacturer warranty is 2 years and its just for faults. I will be using the megaboom for sports and recreational/pool - prone to rugged use with kids. So 3 years for wear and tear for an originally $329 produt for just $30 is a worthwhile investment for ME.

      • +2

Extended warranties are sold for profit - they're never a good deal, because the averaged cost of the repairs is always less than the cost of the warranties.

To put it another way, for every 10 warranties sold, the only person who comes out ahead is the person who claims. The other 9 people (of which you have a 90% chance of being one) have just paid $30 for absolutely nothing.

        • -4

you are right… but Im a sucker for peace of mind. I have claimed with TGG for my washing machine, TV and deebot - no questions asked. I get total credit to purchase brand new products at the end of 5 years/ close to the end of warranty for the slightest wear and tear. So "I" AM happy with it and I go with it. I understand its not everyones cupatea. Happy holidays all…. stay happy…..

        • +3

That has nothing to do with extended warranties. That is any type of insurance full stop (including warranties).

All insurances and warranties are sold for profit. Doesn't mean that it isn't a good idea to get it, or a good idea not to get it.

It all depends on how risk tolerant the person is.

          • @John Stone: Yes, absolutely.

But the difference with car/home/travel insurance is that you can't afford to cover the loss without the insurance in place. Any incident could completely bankrupt you - this is an entirely different risk assessment.

If there's no way you could cover the loss, then it's difficult to argue against the insurance.

Additionally, in a competitive market like car/home/travel insurance then the premium is fairly closely aligned to the actual risk. This is dramatically different for a store-bought extended warranty.

  • Amazon corrected

    • Oh, was middle of live chat goodguys they've sent order for regular boom & now they changed amazon damn it.

  • It still says Megaboom in the listing and when you add to cart. I took heaps of screenshots to show Amazon if they send the Boom.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3 Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker - Lagoon Blue

      Style: MEGABOOM 3

I was tempted to do the same, but I think you'll probably be disappointed.

  • This or jbl charge 5?

    • Charge 5 is usb-c. Gets my vote.

  • No good on JB Hifi chat..

    • No, link for payment regular boom. Tempting buy & when go pick up show the screen pic taken earlier for mega…

  • +2

No good on tgg. as soon as you mention megabom 3 they auto send you the message.

  • Anyone had luck at a local officeworks?

    • managed to get OW(VIC, Elsternwick) to pricematch, took about 10mins for them to figure out whether it was boom /megaboom, originally they brought me boom3.

  • Just tried with TGG as well. No go.

    • +1

No luck. Canned response via chat about incorrect Amazon listing/ wording.

  • I just spoke to Amazon customer service and they confirmed I’ll receive a UE megaboom 3

    • Same. They were pretty adamant too.

  • Got them to price beat a megaboom 3 at office works for around $93. Not a great speaker compared to alternatives, cant complain at that price though.

  • This is giving me de ja vu of this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/817906

  • Link not work anymore

  • Yeah I bought two style "megaboom 3" from Amazon. I was shattered when I opened the box. Boom 3

    • Did you return them?

      • Not as yet. Trying to decide if it's still a worthy gift or not.
Went through the process of returning one of the two, but I want to chat to support first

        Had you bought?

        • I bought it, though I was interested in the Boom 3 anyway so I may keep it when they inevitably send the "wrong" one.

  • Have screenshots of Amazon chat confirming its a megaboom, happy to roll the dice and return for a refund if I don't win

  • Got package today and its boom 3.

  • I was just on chat to Amazon and they said I will get the same product as ordered. But then added that if it is different I can send it back for a refund…

  • +2

I jumped on the chat after I received the Boom 3, and they offered refunding me the money and letting me keep the Boom 3.

    • I ask for this same offer and they refused. They offer me to buy mega book 3 and will price match. Refund the difference.

      • What do you mean by price match and refund the difference?

        • +1

The new boom is $255. You will pay $255. Then get back to Amazon and they will refund $255 - $98 = $157

          • @ozalibaba: Ahh, right! Makes sense now. They are definitely doing that a very complicated way. I thought they'd of been able to generate a coupon code or something you can just apply at checkout.

  • +1

Wasted an hour on Amazon chat but the end result was that if I buy the Megaboom 3 they will refund me difference so I only pay $98 + give me a $5 voucher for my efforts. So essentially ends up the same as anyone who got TGG or OW price match.

    • Did you have to send back the Boom 3?

      • +1

        Yes

  • +2

I just went back and forward with 2 different people in the chat for ages. The first person said I purchased the Boom 3 and send it back for a refund. When I said no they need to honor the purchase, he disappeared and another person eventually confirmed they will give me the difference in a gift card if I purchase the Megaboom 3.

  • Back in stock

  • Seems to be back in stock - for $149

  • +2

After telling me to return the Boom 3 and order the Megaboom 3 with expedited shipping they are now refusing to honor the price or pay the shipping.
I called today and they really don't listen and can't grasp something outside of their instructions.
I asked to speak to a manager twice and he refused.
I have just submitted a complaint to consumer affairs and suggest others do they same. It is against consumer law to advertise a product and send a completely different one.

  • Mine arrived. Like others, it was just the Boom 3, even though the Amazon chat member guaranteed me it would be the Megaboom 3. Contacted Amazon chat and they said that all they could do was offer a refund, but they wanted me to pay shipping. After I complained, they waved the shipping.

Just checked the listing again, they're still listing the style as "Megaboom 3", even though many have reported the issue. Seems pretty dodgy from Amazon.

    • +3

Make an online complaint through consumer affairs. It will take 5 minutes. The more people who do it the more chance Amazon will be penalized and they should make them compensate us too.

      • but what is the contact number of amazon au to submit the complaint?

        • +1

They don't have a complaints area that you can contact. You have to contact their customer service team who are useless.
But once you have done that and gone nowhere you can contact consumer affairs. Mention that multiple other people are affected too.

  • I received BOOM 3, contacted support and they sent another one… which was also a BOOM 3. Contacted again and they let me order a MEGABOOM 3 in black and they've given me a refund of the difference between the original BOOM 3 price and MEGABOOM 3. So ended up getting MEGABOOM 3 black for $98 with a little bit of pain.
