Thanks very much OP, got one!
This PSU was on the list for my next build, $155 from MSY pick up so I saved further $15 plus free delivery.

Something is worrying me is about the included cables, or is just Corsair messing around?
They show x2 power cables so is that all they include or is that just the description?

    • +2

I bought one earlier last month, everything is included as it should.

    • +2

The cable you mention is just showing that it comes with the newest revision cable that some Nvidia cards use. Corsair doesn't mess around with PSU, you'll get more than enough cabling to setup your PC.

      • When I bought a 1000 I had a bag of cables that I didnt use included. I do remember seeing that you cant use them with other PSUs though as some stuff is proprietary

    • +4

      Huh?

      • +5

        Yep. Clown time

    • +7

850w still works for most cpu/gpu, don't know what you talking about.

      • Exactly, works for most top end cpus and 4090s.

    • +37

      Username checks out

    • Spoken like someone with no idea, a 4090 would probably be the only thing that stretches it

      • +3

        850W is perfectly fine for a 4090.

        • +1

I've been using a 4090/5800X3D/850W PSU combo for six months with no issues.

    • +1

      Grabs popcorn

    • +7

Just built a 7800X3D & 4080 rig with a titanium 850w and the fan never even kicks in (which is >50 or 60% iirc). Got a deal you can post on those rocks you're smoking mate?

    • +1

Hmm, I'm still using a 550W PSU, lol.

    • +2

      Meanwhile I am comfortably running a 3080 on Corsair 620w PSU from 2009 🤡

  • +7

The "e" is a cheaper parts version of the power unit. Just an FYI. Do your due diligence.

    • +1

The "e" is a cheaper parts version

It's still a good quality PSU.

I have this and it's kinda loud, wish I bought the RM850x instead. Seems to be a common issue so I advise against purchasing this model due to its poor fan QC. https://www.reddit.com/r/Corsair/comments/11nrocm/rm850e_fan…

    • it's kinda loud

It could be a random batch who knows.
But it's shipped and sold by Amazon so no problem with return and refund.

      • But that's kinda wasteful.

        • But that's kinda wasteful

We don't yet know because I still need to test the PSU.
Some incompetent trolls referred to that video posted here confirming that the fans are noisy while the video shows a coil whine issue so you you can guess never trust the opinion of other people.

    • +4

Yeah this is 100% true. Mine makes so much noise

    • With this being a common issue, I'd also advise to get the 850x. I've been using this 850e model for a few months and thankfully mine has been working well and is quiet

    • +1

the rm850x is also on special for 169 on amazon… the rm850e is still a good buy even if its cheap components, still a better psu then the other competitors in that price bracket

    • Also applies to tge RM1000e, the fan is the loudest part of my system.

      • Same! My PC would be so quiet if it wasn't for the damn PSU, I am so upset

  • +5

I haven't seen a full teardown of any e model Corsair PSU's but as mentioned by other posters, they are a budget model.
I would think the 850x for $169.15 is a better deal.

    • Yeah - I was close to buying the 850e, but the reviews mentioning the noise elsewhere bothered me. The 850x is a better unit but it's not PCIE 5, if that matters.

    • +1

850x is a better PSU but if you have a modern GPU or are planning to get a modern GPU get the 850x SHIFT so that you get ATX 3.0 supported and have a better build quality than the 850e, just note the cables for the shift series come out from the side rather than the back.

the 'e' series are budget and uses lower quality fans and capacitors.

personally I went with MSI MPG AG (1000W one) since it seemed the best reviewed and best price at the moment

  • Can anyone recommend an SFX 500 to 750W supply that's really damn good, modular, no coil whine, nice warranty under $190 AUD?

    • I have the Corsair SFX 750 Platinum. If you find a deal at or under $200 then get one. Super efficient and quiet.

  • -1

Get the MSI A850GL for $149 from Scorptec

Much better performing than the RMe series

Corsair has cheapened out using HEC as the OEM for these budget PSU's whilst MSI uses the proven CWT who also make the proper Corsair RMx units

  • +1

X or E didnt care, yup lower components used but E still has 7yr warranty (10 for X) if im still using it in 7yrs id be surprised, its still 80 plus gold rated, @ 140 i bought 2.

    • I'm still using my 750w XFX (rebranded Seasonic) PSU from 2011 that had 10yrs warranty. It'll probably still work fine for years to come but I'd rather not risk it anymore since it's past warranty's date and probably has tonnes of dust buildup inside.

        • It's not about the warranty, it's the confidence they have in their product. (well at least it is regarding the $120 PSU, more expensive parts are obviously more while sending in to RMA).

            • @billadm: Sure, anyone could offer longer warranties but the reality is, they aren't going to do that if it's well past the point where product starts getting a high failure rate as it will end up costing them far more than the allure of longer warranty would bring in sales.

Just to confirm that I installed this PSU and it has been fantastic.
I read so many silly comments about noise so I must say let these people live like incompetent and uneducated trolls.
