Do these come in white? Why would anyone want a black thing poking out of their white wall?

    • +15

      Are you a war widow

    • +5

      to charge their laptop

    • Maybe because normal people DNGAF about the colour of USB chargers? Or people who don't have some weird subconscious desire to own Apple products?

    • -3

Don't know why you are being downvoted. Maybe ozbargainers have fancy black outlets or something.

      • +2

Because being precious about the colour of a charger plugged into a wall plumbs new depths of triviality.

        • White is the typical colour for chargers as it matches the outlet. I don't think preferring that to continue is precious but each to their own.

          • +1

@allewell: Your head is going to explode when you discover that grey plugs are commonly available, standard C13 power cables for computers or kettles are usually black, and industrial leads come in a rainbow variety of fluorescent shades.

And not only that, outlets are also available in more than just white.

The world would be a boring place if everything was the same colour.

Is this one better/quicker than genuine Samsung Trio wall charger?

  • -2

You can buy 2 of these for about the same price and you'll then have extra flexibility in using them as they are not stuck in a wall outlet. Plus you'll have an extra USB A port

    • +3

You buy these to put in the wall socket tho

      • Just like the one I linked to, that's how it gets power.

It also has the advantage of being able to be used further away from the wall rather than stuck at the wall

    • Only 1 left in stock with AU power cable and USB cable for $47 including gst

      • +1

They've limited it to one per account at that Choice promo price :)

I've been monitoring the usb-cable less one for USD24.30 for the past few weeks and noticed the limit

    • +14

Hi, I'm interested in more examples of more expensive chargers than the deal. Can you post some more please?

    • +2

      Lol, Todo.

Looks like they forgot to give the brand an actual name

  • I'm interested in a charger like this but with a power cable instead of plugged straight into the wall. Would anyone happen to have any suggestions?

    • The ugreen 100w or 65w, or the anker 543 (newer model with 2 USB ports) All recently on sale for boxing day so better off holding out a bit if you can.

      • Yeah, I bought the ugreen 100w Recently, but the charge on the main port drops as soon as you plug another cable in.

        • All chargers will do that as they renegotiate a new current draw I thought. You mean a cable or a cable with a device at the other end?

          • @kulprit: Another cable that’s not plugged into anything.

            • @DryScissors: If that cable is already plugged in when you start(but no device) do you find it charges slower?

      • Honestly I probably don't even need anything this fancy come to think of it. I'd literally be charging phones and other small USB c devices. No laptops or anything. All I need is USB C PD to fast charge the phones I guess

    • Zyron has a 67w charger where u can buy a additional extension cord. I've got the combo and it works a treat

    • See spaceflight comment above with aliexpress uri. Unfortunately not many in stock right now but I've had one for month or so now and it's fine

Heymix 120w GaN comes with AU cable, AU + international plugs.

      • But high risk it will burn your house down

        • +1

Interesting. I've done a quick search into this and only found a few third party reports.

Have you had some personal experience?

I've got four heymix chargers now and their solid amazon ratings gave me confidence.

  • +2

I got this from Hymax instead, and think it's a better deal:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B0CBXBL9DZ/ref=ya_aw_od_pi…

There is a 30% off coupon, so the price comes down to $55.30. Two USB-C and two USB-A slots for older devices and a multi adapter for travel. Mine is in white, but they also have black.

    • Is Hymax a fake Heymix? Must be good.

      • My bad, Heymix it is lol. Not that it's relevant, the amazon link has all the correct information.

These things are great for reducing power bricks. Most IT gear is 5v or 12v.

Get some USB c to 12v DC, plugged into one of these bricks and IT device. Happy days. Multiple devices powered from a single brick. Epic

    • Could you please elaborate on this. Are you saying there is a way to use USBC to power 5 and 12v DC devices and eliminate those bulky power DC power packs ? Please provide an example.

      • +3

        Exactly this!
        I’ve got a Zyron powastone GaN2 version with 3x usbc and a usb a.

I’ve just purchased some of these: tunghey 2Pack USB 3.1 Type C USB-C PD Male to DC 5.5X2.5mm Male Power Jack Extension Charge Cable Charging Cord Adapter 1.5M (12V) https://amzn.asia/d/3G2Xle8

I chose these cables as they have the negotiation chip built in. This means that the cables are only good for 12v devices. You can get them much cheaper on Aliexpress but I wanted ease of returns for the trial.

        I now have:
        - Arris NBN device (12v)
        - wooYi N100/4*2.5Gb LAN device (12v)
        - 8 port 2.5Gb switch (12v)
        - Aircon WiFi AP (5v)

All running from a single power brick like this one.
Why? Reduce number of plugs and power bricks, reduce power consumption. Some of the native power bricks are inefficient (more energy draw from the plug that’s then lost in heat / bad components before the load transfers to the device)

        • How do you select the 5v/12v output voltage from the PD->DC cable?

          • +2

@bdl: The cables have a trigger board in them that negotiates the voltages. That’s why I’ve selected specifics cables. You can get adjustable cables on Aliexpress to switch between 5/9/12//20v

The PD supports all these voltages and the cable does the negotiation as the “device” has no concept. The device just receives its expected 12v and powers away happily

            • @dave31: If it's only 5v you could also use a standard USB A cable as it will only ever do 5v so reduces the need for more expensive USB C cables

        • How do you deal with surge on this setup? Powerbricks can do that or you still use a surge protector between the wall socket and this GaN charger?

      • Game changer

  • Can this charge a laptop via USBC?

  • I have the 120w white version. It's been great so far.

I take it when travelling to charge my legion 5 so I don't need to carry the 1kg brick around. And it fast charges my phone at the same time.

  • Is this deal expired? It comes up at 89$ for me.

    • +1

Yes - use the direct link I posted above
